West Texas Plants
Добавлен 28 янв 2014
My intention with this channel is to share videos of what we do here at West Texas Plants. Some will be strictly informative, explaining what I have learned over the past 15 years, loving and handling these plants. Some will be with the intention of making folks aware that we exist as a business and that these plants are available from us for use in the southwest as well as other parts of the country and world. Suggestions are welcome. Good or Bad. Thanks you!!!

Wizardry
sure, likes to bend over and pick up that pick bar. i would quit dropping it x20 times a minute.
That man knows his stuff. Ill take 10 of each. !
When I put in my pool I would spend significant pesos for a some of those beautiful specimen quality Y. Rostratas or Fauxianas and a number of hardy agaves around the base. I grow palms and bananas here in zone 7B North Carolina happy to find a nursery that does this. This is awesome I do wonder how one initiates an order?
I swear these are my 4 favorite yuccas too! BEAUTIFUL specimens I am jealous!
I really wanted to have that plant here in the Philipines.. I love Yucca❤️😍
perfect habitat for shrikes.
Greetings to all Rostrata Yucca lovers, if you allow me I would like to show you an artwork in honor of this elegant plant: www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Rostrata-de-Acu-a/1114804/7890886/view
The yucca rigida is amazing, I bought one for €50 euro from Netherlands to Ireland , about maybe 40 inches tall, leaves are spikey, maybe keep away from small children but I love yuccas, even our climate is ok for them I hope..
Nice video. I planted a Yucca filifera some years ago but it has been 5 inches tall (without leaves) all this time 😢 tried different methods to make it grow but no luck so far. So now I cut a larger trunk from another Yucca, I think is also a filifera and I hope it develops the root system. In the local Plant store, they sell a Yucca carnerosa or maybe it’s a faxoniana, it has small hairs between the leaves. The purpose is landscaping and harvest the flowers. I really like to eat them with some eggs. Southern Texas...
Our yucco doing well this year
I wanna buy that blue Yuk send it to me how much?
A Joshua tree?
Love all these species, but dont think anywhere near a patio is a good idea
But you are not really in West TX.
which one is the most drought tollerant
Thanks for question. I don’t have any available. I do know at least one exists, though it is more specific to the Sonoran desert. I can’t remember off the top of my head, but I think it was called “edible plants of the southwest “ or close to that. Good luck in your search. Lico
Do you have any books on edible wild plants that are grown in your area?
I remember when the first Y. rostratas started becoming available to nurseries in the mid 80s. I believe it was Adam's Ranch near Marathon Tx. It was the first big ticket plant I ever purchased - I planted it in my parent's Virginia yard. My parents have been gone for years, and just 6 months ago, a hurricane took down the now 20'+ four headed beauty
so sad to hear that.
Do yall sell these? And if so, whats the biggest faxoniana you could ship to Arkansas?
Subject: Regarding sending Yucca sample to study its effectiveness in Ammonia removal from Wastewater Dear Sir I hope this mail will find you in good state of health and spirit. Sir, I I want to perform research on Yucca schidigera extract for ammonia removal of drinking water in India. There is a large problem of ammonia contamination in river water and treated sewage effluent. I want to perform a research study on it. But, I need Yucca Schidigera extract which is not available in my country. I request you to send me a little sample (500 gram) of Yucca so that I can proceed for my research. I will be really obliged. Did you succeed in your study?
can i plant in Denver the Yucca rostrara o Yucca Faxoniana?
I have a yucca rostrata now that is pre-trunked but still fairly small. It's just started getting really sunny out after weeks of being overcast so hopefully I can see it's new growth take off in the next 4 months. But right now all the healthy leaves are at a 45 - 50 degree angle and then they yellow and drop. Do you know why that is? I'd like it to have a full round head in the future but I'm wondering what type of stress it could have that makes it drop leaves earlier. Since it was shipped bare rooted, it could just be that it's partially in shock from the root damage and needs to use more energy to put out new roots until there's enough to support strong leaf growth. But I think it could have also been how little sunlight we've been having for the first month or so I've had it. Guess I'll find out in awhile, it does look quite healthy besides some brown tips.
I just got a meter long trunk. The leaves are getting yellow. Really hope it survives. How is doing yours?
I got a baby yucca rostrata for about 20$
how much is the yucca faxoniana
they start around $300
Can I plant them in December?
Yes
