Husband got rid of four huge yuccas that were planted before we purchased the home. Baby yuccas returned like terminator, just keep coming back. He pulls the entire bulb out and within a few days, more shoot up. They don't die, they multiply.
You didn't want that Yucca? I'm sure almost any garden center would have GLADLY relieved you of it! Do you have any idea what a tree that size - and obviously that old - could fetch at retail? I'll guarantee you they wouldn't give it away. Larger, older tropical plants (they call them "mature") almost always can bring a premium price. You could, with the root ball still intact, probably have wholesaled it to a retail garden outlet - conservatively speaking - for a few HUNDRED DOLLARS without a problem. Someone (probably someone with money) would have purchased it for a planting by their pool, let's say. SOMEONE would have bought it, and paid good money rather than you just throwing it away. Think of it that way.
I live in Melbourne, and you'll find these on the nature strip free😂 to me there a pain in the arse. We have 2 that's pushed our fence forward so I'm about to go dig those bastards up🤦
Just bought a property with about 10 yuccas on it. Some have massive trunks too. Probably bust a gut before l get them all out. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Darren. Very useful video. I'm just in the process of tackling a similar sized yucca that's pushed over a fence post. Cheers

Im doing this and mine is a massive pain cause the dirt is very very compact and rocky
