    Wow! Thanks so much for this stunning video. Love that nighttime footage. Gives me an experience I never would've had (I'm not a pilot) I love that they shook hands at the end of the flight. They should be proud of every flight they make and I'm sure it takes teamwork. It's all so inspiring!

    I really love the sound of those GE-90's idling after the turnoff on the highspeed! I love the 777! Can't wait for my trip!!! Nice video as always!

      Bob Sylvia Thanks, it was a great bird to fly. It was like landing a C-172, a VERY big C-172!

      abba01 - Thanks very much for the reply! Never would have thought about it in that way, but that’s certainly cool in that I used to fly 172’s and loved them. Actually got really good with my landings. Grew up around airplanes and went into a different career path, but always admired those of you who fly, or flew the big birds, and love the 777. Be well and thanks again.

    Captain, how come Engine Anti-ice was on until you parked at the gate? I thought that if the switch is left in the AUTO position, it will turn on by itself when needed. Thank you.

    Wonderful video! Did you takeoff on runway 26? Did you use the new taxiway from the apron to 26? I was a passenger on this route last week.

      Hello Dave, glad you enjoyed the video. This footage was taken about a year ago. The new taxiway had not yet opened and yes, the takeoff was from Runway 26.

    Captain, these long flights, are how many pilots in flight? The two pilots who take off are the same that will land? Thanks and great video!

    • @abba01
      @abba01  9 лет назад +1

      Davi Fiquer Hello Davi, on this long flight, there were 4 pilots, 1 Captain, and 3 First Officers. All pilots are in the cockpit for both takeoff and landing. The time at cruise is equally divided and split. 2 fly while 2 rest, then we swap positions. Hope this helps.
      Steve

      +abba01 I was wondering, if there is only one FO who sits on the left while the FO is asleep?
      Thanks in advance!

      +avi bavi,
      Depending on the scheduled length of the flight, there 2, 3, or 4 pilots. There is one Capt and 3 F/O's for the longest flights but all are Capt qualified and have the appropriate type ratings.
      When the Capt is resting, one of the working F/O's will occupy the Capt's seat on the left.

      Usually 2 pilots can fly for up to 8 hours and then you a get a third guy after the 8 hours. Then obviously on long flights to get 4 guy's

    What does V1 mean

    • @abba01
      @abba01  5 лет назад

      joseph stach , V1 is the calculated speed, above which, it is safer to continue the takeoff rather than aborting it. It is based on a number of factors including runway length, obstacles, temperature, density altitude and aircraft weight among others...

    How were you let in the cockpit?

    • @abba01
      @abba01  9 лет назад +7

      avi bavi Avi, I was the Captain. The camera was mounted to my seat and started before we moved and stopped after we were at altitude. This way , the camera never interfered with my duties, it was just there to observe. It was very helpful for me to see how and if things could have been handled in a more safe and efficient manner. That was the purpose of taking the video.
