Thoroughly enjoyable. I just recently discovered that my mom played this piece at around 17 in her high-school band concert in the early '40s. I knew she was good with the sax, but I never knew how much better she was at it than I could ever play it.
Thanks for connecting me to her history.
Began saxophone at age 11. Began "professionally" LOL! at 16 playing R&B in booze 'n brawl joints in the South. Just discovered classical sax and am impressed. Young lady, your execution of every note was spot-on. Intonation and quality of tone excellent. Thoroughly enjoyed this! Will be 74 years old next March.
I don't usually see girls playing tenor sax. But this is great. I play tenor sax as well. Singelee is one of my favorite composers. I played one of his compositions a year ago. :D

You don't see many girls playing tenor? I'm seeing quite a few of them on baritone sax...
@@DrSarahDunbarI can agree with that-I play all four main saxophones, have played since 11 years old(am 57 now)am most comfortable on tenor and baritone.
@@scottdavis7180 I'm noticing that too. I'm almost noticing that girls are playing tenor as well. Just to be clear, I am a girl who also plays tenor. I have played all four of them at some point, but tenor will always be my favorite. I'm more used to seeing girls play Alto and soprano rather than the other two.
Many moons ago (1998), I played this piece at my Senior Recital. Now I know how it's supposed to sound. Beautiful performance!

I do not think of the tenor as being a classical saxophone, as I only play jazz, rock and popular, but this is beautiful playing!!

I really enjoy your performances. I studied with Bill Calkins at CSUN and Dr. Doug Masek when I was at USC for grad school. Since the pandemic, I have googled practically every composer that wrote original music for sax from the Londeix book (125 ans pour saxophone). What surprised me about doing this is how much great music I didn’t know about. I had never heard of Singelee until you played this piece.

It is a Rousseau NC4 mouthpiece, and I believe a BG ligature.
