I bought the v2 version and the way you connect a Wii is by following your steps expect instead of pressing the up and minus button you need to connect the nunchuck and press the Z button on it and the minus button instead and it will connect, also fun fact. You can connect a wired pro remote to the Wiimote and skip all of the mapping.
@@JoeBleeps I scoured the internet’s last night in hopes of getting this connected simply because we play the WiiU pretty often still so I have a medley of wiimotes, why buy a new one? Technically the Wii remote is superior with the pointer controls since the IR sensors on the Joycons are so finicky that they are not reliable for precise and steady pointing for tracing shapes and dragging objects, just shaking.
@@JoeBleeps Believe me, I tried playing the playing the port of Art of Balance for the Switch with the legacy pointer controls, it's extremely cumbersome in comparison to the Wii version because the Joycon resists your sudden movements all the time, they were designed to be more like gyro controls than remote controls, so the Joycons will always try to pull your cursor in the opposite direction of wherever you move it.
I guess if you wanted to play Wii games like prime remaster or Skyward Sword switch I mean Prime Remaster has the gyro and different control options like classic which resembles GameCube. I forgot what the Wii one is called on remaster but it resembles the prime trilogy game controls. Pointer is what it’s called.
