@jujub5557 You are right, but it is starting to get old, and of course, as others said, you need to adapt it. I would like to see 1.8 or even 1.4 zoom for APS-C as well. But only company who would possibly make such a lens is sigma. Tamron is not as good in experimenting... as a viltrox 1.2 shooter I would love to see such a lend from Viltrox also... fingers crossed. Something like 17-45 f1.8 or would be great and heavy 😅
interesting answer to the Sony 24-50. I’ll have to see how bad the CA / weight is but I can see buying this lens potentially. If it’s anywhere near as heavy as the 34-150 Tamron, which does f2 on the wide side, the answer is probably obvious. Just checked. The sigma is only 200 or so grams lighter. So I can’t see the argument personally, unless the IQ is stellar. Once you’re at a lens weighing 950g going to 1150 isn’t much different and the range is much bigger.
Christopher Frost did a very in-depth of this lens. I definitely recommend it. He does mention the fringing but it's something that doesn't happen that often. Overall he has many great things to say about the lens.
heavy duty right there, 28-45 f1.8... 1kg for a x1.5 zoom. Not so wide, not 85... I'm not buying. Nice and sharp as expected ofc. Probably is very nice for film, i don't know. Why is better than a 35mm f1.8? or a 28mm if you can crop easily 1'5... i really don't understand the target of this one 😅
Truly impressive engineering, I mean it, that bright and that good, but not for me nor a lot of others. I can deal with size and weight as a 24-90 user, but I need range way more often than light in my personal use case.
Years ago, when this was still a concept at photo shows, they advertised it as 5 prime lenses in one body - it's incredible! Hope they won't forget about us, MFT weirdos 🤣
I don't think so. There isn't much difference between f1.8 and f2.0, and Canon's 28-70mm f2.0 is tack sharp with almost no CA, wide open. It is 1/2 the price, though. Plus, Canon for some reason is gonna be releasing a Version II of the 28-70, that will probably be f1.8 and be image stabilized. I'll go for the older RF 28-70mm L, then. If this lens zoomed out to 70+ , it may have been more compelling.
I’m not sure I need a zoom with a 1.8 aperture 🤔. Personal preference but I’d rather a more compact zoom at say 2.8. If I need crazy bokeh then I’ll just use a prime
This is pretty cool! Similar to the Canon 28-70 f/2, you're getting a workable range of focal length with close to prime apertures. (albeit a bit shorter range and larger aperture with the sigma). I think for people who usually float between 24/35/50mm primes with most of their shooting, this might actually be ofnuse for them (thinking photographers like James Popsys).
Now they need to do a 1.4 zoom lens for crop sensors.
They have the 18-35 f1.8
@@jujub5557 its an old lens and it needs an adapter to work since it's A mount. A better update perhaps?
@@shirakawanaoya the ef version adapts better, also they kinda dont want to throw this under the bus, so maybe 2-3 more year

The APS-C lens we all need is the 50-135mm f2.8, which we expect Sigma to release some time in the near future.
Looks insane!
I my opinion a fast 35mm makes more sense. The zoom range is just too small.
Well, its zoom range is definitely bigger than a zoom range of 35mm prime... ;-) .
This lens is three f/1.8 primes in one lens.
The day Sigma makes a 16-50mm f1.8 for full frame, I'm buying it without a second thought.
Me listening to this and shaking my head when he says "excitedly yes 1.8" even though I know nothing about cameras 😊
it's an aperture or f-stop
More bokeh
Blurry background / better in low light conditions
Sigma 😂
Balls
Few people will buy this lens. I regret it's not starting at 24mm OR ending at 50mm. The in-between zoom range is not ok for my needs.
Let's appreciate SIGMA for a fabulous and revolutionary lens with a reasonable price!
THANKS SIGMA! 🙏

How is the focus breathing and is it parafocal? Is the focus throw linear?
Great questions..!
It's fairly minimal in terms of focus breathing
It's not parafocal.
It’s so sick!
I'm not sure why lens manufacturers cannot make a f1.8 zoom from 24-70mm. This Sigma looks amazing but might hang on for Sony.
Physically it is possible. Such lens would be too very big, very heavy and very expensive. Check out the Canon 28-70/2.
I like vr and a longer range for a walk around lens, if i want a super shalow dof then i will have a prime in my bag.
That fringing is called chromatic aberration
Fringing is one on several types of chromatic aberrations.

I'm sure it's great, as it can be 28, 35 and 45mm (wish it had been 50) lenses. BUT it weighs more than 3 f1.8 lenses together! 😅

We have the Pana Leica 10-25mm and 25-50mm f1.7 lenses to choose from. The 10-25 is a much more useful zoom range than this Sigma offering.

A very limited zoom range, moderate wide to moderate standard.
Well it has an internal zoom… the 24-70 on 70mm is the same height
I wish it was a 24-85
I’m not sure I need a zoom with a 1.8 aperture 🤔. Personal preference but I’d rather a more compact zoom at say 2.8. If I need crazy bokeh then I’ll just use a prime
Sigh… just update the 135 f1.8 😢 come on
What duh sigma?
£1300 for a lens? No thanks!!

Rather have the Sony 24-50 f2.8 G…..wider range, same sort of price, smaller, lighter and much more of an every day carry. This thing is huge and heavy
Didnt know 1.8 zoom was possible...crazy what kind of technology we have rn
24-70 would be perfect 28 is just not wide enough for vlog
~1,500€
I guess no RF?
Emm, 28-45mm…. Kind of short and useless focal length. Is it better to buy 35mm 1.4?😂
Cool.
😮😮😮
Way too heavy
just get 35mm prime
oof
Not for me.
what about canon. is it only for fuji and Sony avaibale
No
No I will not buy it!
Sigma 😂
