- Rita is a hard working single mom of three young girls. When she decided to enter the RV lifestyle and the travel trailer wasn't her thing, she converted a church shuttle bus into a campervan motorhome with help from some friends. Rite was nice enough to give us a tour of her 1999 Ford E-450 shuttle bus conversion
Plz let this lady know how impressive she is! As a single mom, she's found a safe & secure, affordable, efficient, & comfortable means by which she can have many, many vacays & adventures w/her daughters! She's also teaching her daughters that not only can their mom do anything, but they can, too! It's just a great story!
Thank you for watching
I sure hope shes looking back at this video reading Comments
Marvelous job. You are SO gifted and motivated
Yesssss
,
I really don't like how exposed the toilet is. But I drive a 40 foot bus as my job. So getting a bus like this is appealing to me. I'd probably add on a garage to the entire back since I don't need those back windows at all. I do love the skylight built where the hatch was. And I love having the back handicapped door there especially since you have children. It's a good safety measure, it must really help with ventilation and it seems it would help when you are trying to get something cooked and kids are running in and out. I'd get one of those screen things you can put in front of the doors with the magnets down the center opening so you could keep the doors open without the problem of bugs. I love the bus though and I give her kudos for having the courage and ingenuity to do this. Her kids will always remember it.
That and I could never go for food storage next to the toilet that’s like it being in the bathroom to me.
She could build a thin MDF wall or make a box to cover the toilet. She’s still adding to it, renovating it. I’m sure she will realise that it’s not very hygienic where it is. It is a great bud to house 5 people.
This woman has incorporated a lot of clever ideas into this shuttle bus without getting carried away.
Yes she did
Thank you! I tried real hard to keep it simple.
I thought this was created by Navigation Nowhere: ruclips.net/video/s99O6CDsPRY/видео.html
@@YourMajesty143No. It was my creation, but what he was a big help.
But, no shower....maybe that is in plan B. Super ideas & "RV".
Awesome job. The pullout faucet for outdoor shower IS GENIUS.! 434 dislikes......How can any sane person not appreciate the work that went into this build!?!
Thank you for watching. Not sure why the dislikes
Thank you for your sweet comments and appreciation. 😊
New Jersey Outdoor Adventures it’s because no one else has such a amazing shuttle bus
@@talia._alysa0149 Amen ! This is even a Blessing for anyone who cannot afford to pay 8oo.oo/more for ŕent.intimes like these people better start thinking ahead!! My bus is almost identical.I started a business with mine. Get ins.quotes prior to purchasing+
They are just unhappy people who don't want anyone else to be happy.... So sad that these people can't look for the good in others!!! There is absolutely NO reason ANYONE should mark a "dislike" on this video. Rita is a very special lady who did a brilliant job of putting together a nice "budget friendly" camper for her and her girls!!! Kiddos and more power to her to her!!!!
This Mom really did go to a lot of work on this for her girls. Be safe out there, family ;-)

Yes she did :) Awesome Job

@@sinfullyblondie Thank you.
I'm a bus driver.
All of the emergency hatches leak. Idk why. That marine hatch is brilliant!!
Thanks. I called it our built in water feature when I first got it.
Thank you for watching
I think she meant the original leaked...
Unless that was sarcasm on the original..!
@@skipdippity yes. We were both talking about the original roof hatches leaking.
Her new marine hatch doesn't leak.
It’s a cute home. I especially like the bed solution.

@@OldSkoolieSimple Hi Rita! Did you name the van & paint the exterior yet? THE CHOIR of the PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH as a name made me laugh.
May the Lord keep you safe according to Psalm 91, in Jesus Name Amen.
I like how financially realistic this tour is. The fact that there’s enough space for 4 girls is awesome.
Yes very budget friendly
Thank you. Plenty of room for us!
Thank you Rita
Rita is an amazing mom and what a hard working individual. The girls have no idea how lucky they are. I really like the idea of a shuttle bus conversion. Thanks for uploading this video Patrick. Thanks for letting Rita talk.
Thank you for watching
That is so kind of you to say. Actually, I wish Patrick did more of the talking. I was too nervous.

Great build! I love love that this single mom has gone to such lengths to be able to travel with her girls! I’m not saying that there aren’t plenty of single moms that do but as a single mom I was intimidated by the thought of camping by myself with my kids. Forget doing a build and hitting the road for some amazing adventures! You’re pretty awesome Rita! You’re kids are very lucky!
Thank you for watching
Kate! Thank you for your kind words. It means a lot. Truthfully, it was terrifying, but then I realized that the worst that could happen was NOT DOING IT! Imagine if I would've erred on the side of caution???
Rita Gardner I don’t have to imagine what would have happened. I didn’t take that leap and now my kids are all grown. Three years ago I did get all three of my kids and their partners to go camping at the beach for a long weekend! We all enjoyed every second of it! Unfortunately we haven’t been able to make it a yearly thing. However..my first grandchild was born 6 months ago! A beautiful boy that will be taking a lot of trips with his grammie! You are doing an amazing job of showing your girls what a strong, brave mama can do! Enjoy every minute of every trip! They grow up so fast! Wishing you guys safe travels! 🚐🏞🌅
I know what you mean Kate! Funnily enough I decided to take my daughters on a holiday and ended up buying a van lol. It honestly works out cheaper and I feel safer be able to drive away. I’m currently converting it, if interested we are MajesticMary_thevan on Instagram if you want to follow along. I agree with Rita also ... just do it!
family was thinking about we probably a nursing home and stuff like that you get a referral for that's pretty much her next step her of the issue Anthem came out last week or the week before last Tuesday say yeah you can write up a referral and stuff like that cuz you know it's about her insurance you know that's awaiting me some stuff I didn't say if you would if you have primary physician is important physical therapy quickly yeah from previous experience it is is not easy but I know it's not easy because I had to go up and down up and down he took clothes over three months even if they still have it waiting that's it was a nightmare
I really like the attention to the small details. Also the maximizing the space. The marine hatch is a brilliant idea! Great little home!
Thank you.
Thank you for watching
Thank you for the the tour, Rita! You did an awesome job!

This is what I want. Happy to see a converted vehicle that fits more than two ppl. Great job!
Thanks

She is an inspiration. So smart. Go girl!!
That's sweet. That just made it all worth it. Thank you.

Beautiful shuttle bus!!! Thank you for allowing us in to your beautiful home.
Thank you
Idk how I’d feel about taking a poop out in the open like that with everyone watching even if they’re my family 😭
Thank you for checking this out
🤔 I wonder too. I don’t take a poop with everyone watching.
I'd send everyone outside!!!!!
@@lindahh798 Well let's pray that it's not storming next time you have to poo.
My first nomad vehicle (over 5 years ago) was a converted 1993 Ford e350 turbo diesel starcraft shuttle bus that i bought for $4,200. There's videos of it on my channel years ago. It just became too much vehicle for me so i made the switch to van life 4 years ago.
She did a great job with this even if she had a little help. What a cool mom! And just wow! Being a single mom with 3 kids is hard so i give her mad props.
I have a friend who has a skoolie. I love those too and can't wait to one day get the chance to convert one of those. Thanks Guys fire such a great tour and interview.
Thank you for watching and for sharing the info.

Brilliant ideas! Especially the hangers and hooks, then the curtains! Amazing !!
Thank you Nancy
How nice of you to say. I am glad you enjoyed it.
I'm lovin' this mom and truly enjoyed watching her explain the conversion of her mobile home. Not only is her knowledge impressive, but her strength and kindness are as well! 😊
That made my day. Thank you
@@OldSkoolieSimple You are so welcome. God bless you!
Absolutely beautiful!!! God Bless you all! My husband and I are planning to retire in 4 years and have been thinking of a shuttle bus. I think I can convince him now. You did an awesome job!!!
You can do it. And I'd suggest you start now. (Research) Some people don't have the imagination. It wasn't until I was done that most of my family and friends got it.
Thank you for watching
Great job filling a niche - East Coast interviews and tours. Excellent interview style: great listening and filming, good questions, nice supportive comments to the person sharing. (Cute thumbnail for this video.)
Thank you very much
Wow! I never would have thought to get a shuttle bus. So much room inside. She thought of everything. It's beautiful!
It really is!
I love the windows in shuttle buses too.
Oh yeah I would definitely buy one and live my best camping life in it.

Hey, that's my plan too!
I’ve never heard of magnetic paint great idea

It is a primer and then you paint over it with another paint. It is okay, but not really strong.

Very sweet of you to say! Thank you
Rita, most of the critics here don't have a way of living in the outback like you 4 girls so they are envious of you. Don't sweat over their comments. The van is lively and your life is to die for. 10/10
Thank you for that. It is their view and I don't mind. It is a reflection of them, not me, right? Your words are very kind and appreciated.
Thank you

Thank you so much for all of your efforts and knowledge!
This just goes to show that you don't have to spend tons of money to have a nice workable camper! Nice job! Kudos to Rita on her efforts to give her girls great experiences!
Thank you. I am glad you appreciate the same thoughts I had.
Congrats to this amazing mom! She did an awesome job converting her bus to fit her family! I just found ur video but couldn't go without commenting. Thanks for posting.

There's a lot of simplified carpentry in here that show a lot of ingenuity. Great! saving this for future viewing.
Thank you for checking this out
Thank you. The goal was trying to come up with creative simple ideas.
Glad you noticed.
I love the beds! Finally someone who made proper beds for her children ! Great conversion, I saw some comments talking about the toilets but I doubt they let it open like that, they probably have curtains.. I think it is a good spot because it's easier to put the smell out and in such a tiny space there's not exactly an ideal spot but toilets
Thank you for watching
camille thank you for you kind words. Actually there is no smell, it that was my thought too, good ventilation. Yes, we do have curtains for privacy.
My childhood dreams are right here.my parents did lots of camping and never used a vehicle to travel and live in but it was so engrossing to see these solutions for living with the four. Thank you for your kind tour.

I’m jealous! She got to meet Patrick & she didn’t have to buy an airstream to do it!
Thank you 🍻
Cool conversion. We are also Skoolies. 1983 Ford My husband converted a short school bus and we sold everything. Have lived on the road over 2 years and love it. We don't really miss having a house and our backyard always changes!
Thank you for watching Johanna
That is so cool. I hope to meet up with you someday. I can't get enough of Skoolie/Bus/Vanlife stories.
I've been looking at shuttles for a month or more. I saw one on marketplace on FB, and wanted it for a metal detecting rig to camp at hunt sites.
Since I haven't seen any conversions, this was welcome. Mine will be simpler in some respects, since I will be flying solo.
Thanks for the video. 👍
Good luck with your conversion.
Very nice conversion by a mother, with the girls around.. Salute to the mother.. Namaste from India..
This is just an awesome conversion! Good for you Rita!

Very well thought out design. Nice budget build. I bet the kids love it.

I think the toilet shouldn't be used too often
I would build a box top and mount a cushion on top of the toilet seat so it looks like a small bench seat. Lift to go potty.
Great idea. Please subscribe for more great ideas from van conversion owners
It is in the works. Great idea. They cushion will line up with the rest of the cushions on seat and cooler. Just didn't get that far when the video was shot. Work in progress.
Agree on hiding the biffy. But what about privacy when in use? It’s SO out in the open.
@@gailkshaw I would put up a circle shower rod or a cloth that rolls up and drops down to cover.
I would like to see a bath in the van
30 inch wide mattress x 6 feet is bunk bed size if you want to buy a regular mattress. Great buildout. I love all the windows you get with a shuttle bus conversion so you can see the great outdoors and not feel confined. Happy travels.
Thank you very much Carol
Thank you. We needed 4 inch mattress and the bunk mattresses are only 5.5 feet with curved bottom. We LOVE the windows and made it a priority to keep them open. Thank you for your kind words.
You have built an adorable AND practical van. God speeds to all of word Van living! !!!@
Thank you for checking in Linda
Thank you very much.
Nice bus, nice lady. God bless her and her children on their travels.
Thank you
@buggeroff Whats nasty about that?
@buggeroff spot on! plus, not to mention how god treats women and children in the bible.
Your god is not blessing anyone, he wants to put fear in people and force you to follow him else you go to some nonexistent afterlife called hell.
Rita and her kids can do much better than any god could do, the bible says women are to submit to their husbands, be quiet, not teach , and calls them second class people.
The woman is so practical. Thanks madam!
Thank you for watching
THANK YOU!
Rita, good job on your tiny house shuttle bus! It looks comfortable to spend days in and it still looks spacious and bright. The outside shower + the magnetic strips (that hairbrush! ♥️) are very thoughtout.
Thank you. So kind of you to say. Thriving on Simple.
Looks great! I especially like the bedroom design. It is just my daughter and I, so the "twin" bunks would work fine for us.
If I were you, I would do the trundle. Lot more room during the day and more headroom. IMHO Although you would have many more options with just the two of you.
Thank you Cheryl

@@OldSkoolieSimple Hi Rita, I really think it's great that you didn't make your kids sleep in smaller beds, so that you could have a larger one.
While I understand some couples with little kids saying that they want some privacy, a king bed for the parents requiring little kids to sleep in small and narrow beds is just unfair.
So congrats on a gorgeous bus that looks well loved. I hope you and your daughters are doing well right now.

@@OldSkoolieSimple It is a nice build but every one of those shuttles I have ever ridden in rattles like crazy, do you have that problem?
@@wickedmuffin76 I actually don't. I have a squeak where I put up the camera. I don't have many things that move just for that reason.
Very nice Job
I've seen a few other conversion like but this is one of the better ones, the way she did her layout best use of space.
It's unfortunate but a lot of times these vehicles go for scrap because it's hard to find buyers for them, but this is definitely a good use for something like this.
I've actually seen one where they kept a wheelchair lift and used that as a outside shower and extra space.
Thank you
