I dont think she should be held responsible for other people's actions when she made it clear that she didn't want people to continue pitting jesse & herself against eachother after she said her peace
candle jenner I think the fact that Gabbie’s fans and stans have been bullies and harassing people for years and Gabbie hasn’t publicly told them to stop-and even during the inabber interview defended their behavior-turns it from “not her responsibility” to “at this point she needs to do SOMETHING”. There are countless people on social media who have been majorly harassed by them, some victims even getting multiple death threats, and it’s such public knowledge and been brought to Gabbie’s attention so many times that she can’t plead ignorance, and really needs to speak up about this. Her stans are so nasty and, forgive me for using this word but, toxic, that it reflects so awfully on her, and for someone who wants to break into mainstream music, her fans/stans having the reputation of being horrible bullies is going to hold her back so much.
Exactly, Gabbie in particular just keeps making the same “mistakes” (aka bad choices that she only apologizes for when she gets backlash) over and over without ever learning and growing or even just putting someone else’s feelings besides her own first every once in a while. How many times does she have to do shitty stuff and get called out for her behavior, only apologizing weeks/months after the fact when it’s clear the backlash won’t go away and she can’t ignore it anymore, before it’ll stick in her brain that in order to be the good person she claims her is, she has to walk the walk instead of just talking the talk?
I was discussing this with a Gabbi fan (or stan) when she called me I-don't-remember-what becauseshe thought I demanded anapology from her and that if I stuck to a quote like "manage your expectations" I'm petty: I'm petty. Mainly for fun and when no one is actually hurt. But what called my atention is that she answered a comment I made statingthat myreligion doesn't include forgiveness, only compensation. When she threw the "manage your expectations" she showed how little she values her fans as long as she cash. Jessi Smiles didn't jump out of nowhere: Trisha was wronged by Gabbi, no one truly believed that because Trisha, but some remembered Jessi's situation. When it went out again, Gabbi went to DM underage fans: she basically used her fans for her ownselfish benefit, again. Gabbi apologizes once and again, and again about doing things that at the end of the day are all the same: she uses or just plainly scams the people who she expect to always have her back despiste not knowing her. And that's my problem.
But change takes time. People don’t want to put in the time because really, they are just caught up in the drama. So if words aren’t enough, then what? Blood? Realistically, what do RUclips fans expect if words aren’t enough and we don’t have a crystal ball to see change in the future? Words are all you are going to get.
Right!!!! Like how she gon play the victim when the victim is literally Jessi??? Like just drop it if you’re not gonna respond w a video don’t do it....but also don’t come back 6 months later pretending to be pressed about your name being in her video for a second
It reminds me of the Colleen situation. I was also just informed they both involved minors. Even without the age difference there is a power imbalance and possibly ( and with Gabbie, probably) an ego aspect as well.
Actually she mentions in her video that she was at a breaking point when that went down, so i wouldn't say "impulse control problem" when frustration happens to all of us. The dms with the fans didnt really sit right with me either but she apologized, owned up to it and was really embarrassed abt it so im okay now
She actually dmed 2 fans (that we know of), the one that was in Jessi’s video, who is an adult, and then afterwards a second one, who was 15 at the time. While she did say it was a mistake, she never acknowledged that she was trashing Jessi and exposing her personal information to someone who was essentially a stranger, and she certainly didn’t own up to the bullshit and manipulation she pulled on the other one and referring to Jessi’s rape as “the rape drama”. And when you watch back the video, she never even apologized to either of them, despite what she put them through both with her unloading and the harassment they endured from her stans. Hell, combining them into one person is just the cherry on top of the bullshit cake.
Saying Gabby uses the internet as a diary when it's not meant for that is something I think many people need to think about when it comes to personal internet useage
Right, sharing your life and thoughts and feelings to a certain extent is good to connect with your audience and feel like you’re being your true self BUT oversharing by airing yours or someone else’s dirty laundry and fights and sharing personal info about others and talking bad about others is just too much. Save it for closed doors and close friends and family.
@@bogosbinted5734 and a public place open for criticism, and it seems like Gabbie can't handle that. She can't seem to come to terms with the fact that you can't freely put art on a medium and not only not expect, but flat out REJECT criticism
What has come up as a reaction to "cancel culture" is "anti-cancel culture" where when someone does something that people think is wrong and want an explanation for, there are people who are dismissing all the criticism just because they think "cancel culture is toxic". Which it absolutely can be, but people's concerns shouldn't be invalidated because of a hyperactive minority. (re:Lana's current situation)
That rhetoric also tends to attack individuals for not wanting to support someone. There’s this idea that if you don’t support them, you want them to fail, when in reality they just don’t like someone. This all goes back into this assumption that what they did is just bad criticism from cancel culture or that all critics are extreme.
you're so right about Lana! from what I saw online, before she posted her response post most people were like hey that sounds kind of racist what do you mean by that? like I didn't see many people outright canceling her but more just questioning what she meant which like... fair bc that post functionally was very hard to follow and if you aren't like... personally invested in her it's easy to interpret what she said as racist bc her entire point was really muddy and unclear. and then she did the whole "this is toxic cancel culture" thing and said everyone who thinks what she said could be interpreted as racist is the actual racist and NOW she's canceled when if she was just like "hey, didn't realize I came across as racist, I meant this instead" she would prob be doing better. this like... super strong anti-cancel culture is honestly becoming worse than cancel culture. like at this point most people aren't super permanently affected by cancel culture, people survive, look at jeffree star/gabbie hanna/a million other people who have been canceled but went on relatively unscathed/able to still do their careers and live. obv it remains to be seen but I feel like the same people that would've been chill if she approached the situation reasonably are going to continue to not like her/cancel her bc of how she reacted to the situation. saying you couldn't possibly be racist and that everyone else is when people ask for clarification on an easily misunderstood post is... not it.
Yes this! Now people are so against cancel culture that no one is being held accountable anymore for fear of them being “canceled” when in reality they should be held accountable for their actions.
@@bunnyvoid9272 Omg I completely agree. She was acting like there was no possible way anyone could have misinterpreted her post when clearly a majority of people had no idea what point she was trying to make. So she became super defensive. And I hated that line "YOU'RE the ones who are racist because you're making it about race". Like no.... you're the one who named almost exclusively women of colour and spoke about them like they were basically dumb bimbos. She's such a clown.
In my opinion jessi putting a question that her viewers sent her in a thumbnail isn’t worth addressing.. it doesn’t matter she’s allowed to talk about her life and it’s not out of nowhere it was a q&a video. Idk I think gabbie just wants more of a reason to try and be the victim and make jessi look bad..
I personally think that Gabbie was gonna make this video and put it out now no matter what, since her ep dropped the same day and it’s about all the drama from last year, but she was just glad to have an excuse by way of Jessi’s video, when really a freaking minute long clip of Jessi saying that shit is over, she doesn’t want anything else, and didn’t expect anything but just getting closure for herself with her initial video, that isn’t nearly enough to warrant this.
I really agree, and it shows that Gabbie didn't even watch the video. Jessi spoke about it for like a minute or less and there was nothing said that added to the drama she just said she wasn't gonna talk about it anymore
Plus she didnt go on and on and pulll up a bunch of receipts. She essentially said - no gabbie didn't reach out to me. no we arent speaking. im done with that part of my life. And then continued to the rest of the questions.
Also to promote her EP dropping that night.... while simultaneously saying it’s not to promote her EP ( which by mentioning it at all she’s promoting it...) also the EP is full of references to the situation and playing the victim... and naming the title of one of the songs after a tattoo that Jessi has on her back.... Gabbie really thought we weren’t going to catch on lol
Thank you!! That is honestly the main issue I had with the allegations against her and she didn’t address it... most likely because she actually said it.
I wish people (like consumers of influencer media) would acknowledge that you can personally decide not to support someone (call it cancel them or whatever you want) and then just NOT ENGAGE with their content. Like I don’t follow JStar on any platforms and that’s literally all it takes. I don’t have to talk about every new scandal and argue in comments sections about him.
Same; I mostly get my info about people I don’t support from smaller channels like Smokey Glow or through compilations because it keeps me updated and entertained without supporting them.
I was shocked to see gabbies like to dislike ratio are we gonna conveniently forget she said things like “bring my popcorn” and “why is vine drama on tmz haha” in response to the news of Jessi’s rape breaking on tmz that’s so disgusting I wouldn’t say that about anyone being raped not even my worst enemy
I agree with everything you said, i'm so tired of the flip flopping and i have seen Gabbie use the same explanation for all the mistakes she keeps on making. I used to be a fan of hers and i remember her saying that she "forgets her influence" and "feels just like a normal person on the internet" as an excuse to manipulate and inappropiately interact with fans. She literally said the same thing years ago when she exposed the username of a girl who criticized her on instagram, which obviously resulted in all her fans harassing the girl. She clearly knows what she's doing if she's repeating the pattern, why apologize for something if you're just gonna keep doing it?
I just want to highlight one thing that the youtuber Def Noodles made in his video about Gabbie's "apology" and, is the fact that she released the video the day her new music was coming out. Because of that IMO there was little to none genuine intentions from Gabbie realising her apology. For me was a marketing move.
Especially with her mentioning it multiple times in the video, in her pinned comment, and retweeting the video INSISTING she didn’t make it for that reason. Combine that with the ep being all about this drama and yeah, total marketing move.
Gabbie's just a hypocrite and really doesn't care about the right and wrong of things. She talks about doing things privately, publically. She talks about not wanting to feed into an online culture of exposing private/sensitive information to cancel people whilst ignoring the fact that Jessi just responded to her doing that to Trisha publically and in fan DMs since all private attempts had failed. She talks about accountability and going over everything, whilst pretending she didn't accuse Jessi of falsely accusing Curtis the day the news broke and gaslighting that first 15 yr old who remembered seeing the tweet the day it happened. Best of all, she releases the video 4 days after a minor inconsequential mention in another video by Jessi to pretend that's the final straw as opposed to her EP dropping that night and she wants to boost it. The one with 4 songs basically saying that she did nothing wrong, that people are out to get her for no reason, that she just went through hell for people's entertainment and because they are out to get her (sound familiar?) and compares herself to Jesus whilst baldly labelling Jessi bad karma. The 5th is her pretending after spitting lyrical about how much she's suffered under her self-anointed martyrdom and how terribly she's been treated (y'know, being criticised for really shitty behaviour) she's just too happy now. Now she has 5 cringy poorly written songs to go with her poorly written poetry book, I guess? Nothing in her "apology" was about apologising or taking responsibility, it was a PR move to push her self aggrandising music and to recover from how she's damaged her views by accidentally exposing herself when trying to cause drama with Trisha to spike views in Nov for her music release then. She made a whole lot of good points in that video that she herself would never dream of taking. Coming full circle, she tries to use the victim narrative she sculpted response to the mess she caused in Nov to then cause more drama and trigger more views and interest in her current EP release. The girl has clearly learnt nothing, and clearly is out here for coin and not much else. She's a bad person for young people to look up to and I worry for her audience.
Yes completely on point. The thing i dislike about gabbie is just as you said: she acts like people criticize her for no good reason, that shes the victim, when in reality she just ignores any valid criticisms people bring up to her as tho its all baseless hate
I want to print this comment. Yes to everything you said!!!! Gabbie is so manipulative and emotionally exhausting to watch because she preaches that she “hates drama” when she’s the one instigating it...as was said in this video. Also she’s so INCREDIBLY manipulative that she took the “bullying” (aka well deserved critique) she received in November and is now playing the victim ???? When she was the one doing wrong to Jessi ?? Where does she get off?? I’ll never support her again
Thank god for you for reminding me that actual adults can see through Gabbie’s bullshit because the internet has been seriously discouraging after her video came out.
she’s just a manipulator, thru and thru. she’s never changed. she’s still the same person she’s always been. no one should have to say how nice they are or how good or generous of a person they are constantly. she’s the common denominator in every situation. she’s the problem. idk if she’s lying to her therapist and that’s why she’s not able to grow but she needs to get a grip and change. action speak louder than words. she’s not sorry imo.
More like? Gabbie: makes multiple videos on RUclips, Instagram live, and snapchat talking about Jessie Jessie: finally says something Gabbie: “omg I cant handle when people talk about private things!!! Keep it private so no one can see how horrible I am!!”
I think Gabbi doesn’t understand the fact that a lot of her actions, regardless of her own intentions, are like. Kinda fucked up. Like. The things she says and does are messy and problematic especially for a big creator, but also the motivations for them are... pretty human. I think she needs to realize her intentions do not negate the harm of her actions. Unless she figures that out she’s gonna be the same. (And also nothing she says can really negate the fact that she’s kind of hypocritical and completely lacks self awareness)
"cancelled" I feel like is the wrong term. I dislike its over use and it has created a very black and white view on people/influencers etc. Honestly I strongly believe in an accountability culture instead. That way when something serious happens (something criminal for example) it has a bigger impact. People "cancelling" gabbie isn't the same as cancelling onsion. Gabbie has made serious mistakes but they are things she can grow from and fix to an extent. And that should be encouraged
Gabbie can't be fixed, shes been manipulative and problematic for YEARS. Ever since she had low subs she has had problems. She needs to be removed, she is doing wayyyyyy more harm than good
I totally agree. The lack of grace on the internet is insane. Everyone forgets that people can change, and they deserve a chance to show that... I mean, that in itself is the difference between holding someone accountable and “canceling” them.
Chandler Newman but there’s a huge difference between “accountability” and harassment/just LOOKING for things to be “offended” about. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not referring to the Gabbie situation at all. Gabbie actually treats people badly. But when we go after (cancel) people for sharing a pic of you in your car, that’s NOT accountability. I feel like it would be great if it were ACTUALLY “accountability culture” but it’s definitely not.
I agree. I feel like the term of "cancelling" people is very overused. And I feel like it does not encourage growth (unless ofc if what they do is immensely terrible).
some constructive criticism the light of the video doesn't show your face too much it gives cozy vibes but I feel a little light on your face would make it look more professional.
She mentioned in a most recent video that her really bright lights she uses to film give her migraines. She’s still testing out different lighting combinations
if multiple people in your life have blocked you for similar reasons and have issues with you, then you have to start to wonder how much is it the people in your life being the problem and how much is it you being the problem? I mean you can see fault in both sides, but if the common denominator in all of the drama is you, then clearly there are things that you need to work on. I used to love watching her videos and I kind of enjoy her music, but I have an issue with how she keeps playing the victim every time she is in some drama or scandal instead of appologizing, owning her mistakes and saying hey this is what i need to work on to better myself or hey i fucked up here is how i have changed since this all happened or this is how i am planning on changing.
Gabbie is like Rewired Soul. Blames Cancel culture, doesn’t really apologize makes excuses, tries to twist it to “I’m the misunderstood good guy” and “don’t look at me, look at them”.
I found her video to be so unnecessary. It was barely an apology, just a way for her to bring up shit that happened 6 months ago to find an excuse to read private texts from 2017. It was so bizarre all around. Not everything she said was wrong but, like you said, she has done and continued to do the things she took issue with in her video.
at first I thought it was as good of an apology as we could ever expect from her and she gained a little respect back then I saw that like the next day she posted that vlog where she cried through the whole thing about how she gets bullied all the time and it totally negated everything for me :/
Couple years ago I worked as a customer service rep for a VERY popular bank, she had an account under The Gabbie Show back then, called in and called me a peasant, stupid, laughed at me. Along with some other girl who was on the phone. Never liked her since then. Horrible person behind closed doors.
you are seriously so intelligent and eloquent, I love hearing your take on youtube drama because I can always count on it being of a certain caliber of quality. Thank you!!
would you consider doing a video on ashley/best dressed? i trust your judgement there's a lot of surfacing videos about her being a problematic faux feminist, her shelling out for amazon, her not following quarantine rules, and (what bothers me most) her overly hyper sexual comments to her mostly underage fan base. i'd love to know your thoughts on the matter!
I just don’t see why people can’t say hey. These people messed up. No party in this is innocent. What people need to do it take Both side into account and go with who THEY THEMSELVES think they should support. Instead they just bandwagon against whoever didn’t make a video responding that day. It shows how many sheep are in this world. They follow mindlessly
The thing w Gabbie that rubs me the wrong way about her is that she just can’t seem to get it right. I feel like she’s a really aggressive and angry person and the video she just put out with everyone’s names in the title was NOT an apology it was an expose video. It looks terrible after CONSTANTLY claiming you don’t watch videos with your name in the title to then respond to a Q&A video? and then your EP drops that night??? But you say 2x in the video that it’s not for promo... but you still indirectly gave it promo???! I truly believe Gabbie is delusional and is not a good friend or person.
As for how I “responded” to people being canceled in the Tati drama, I loved Tati and watching her videos were always one of the best parts of my day. One of the big appeals about her for me was that she was older and more mature than younger beauty influencers who were always at the center of a new scandal and I thought highly of her. After the drama and her getting involved in everything it just ruined her content for me. It left a sour taste in my mouth knowing she involved herself in something petty. I kind of did the same thing with mannymua after the first big beauty drama but it wasn’t really intentional 🤷🏻♀️
Yeah I had the same feelings with Tati. I watched her videos and respected her, but the whole drama made her seem a lot less mature than she let on. Made me change my view on her.
so she waits months to upload an "apology" video that just coincidentally is uploaded the same day she releases new music...im sorry but i just cant take her seriously and it wasnt even an apology if it was a true apology then maybe i could look by it but...that wasnt a real apology
I must be old...I don't know who these people are 😅 but from my experience, RUclipsrs only apologize because they've gotten backlash and rarely take responsibility for their words and actions. You look amazing btw
Chanel B same, I didn’t know who any of these people are until I started watching youtube after I graduated and had some time off and now during quarantine/ lockdown. I’m starting to see why this young generation come off so entitled and gossipy to me.
finally someone is talking about this! I feel like most drama/commentary channels are eating up these heavily scripted apologies like "yes, this is what an apology is supposed to look like, they hit all the points" but to me an apology is mostly meant to look sincere and from the heart, doesn't have to be perfect phrasing crafted by a whole publicity team
I agree with you. I 100% think that cancel culture started as holding people accountable for their actions. Now people take the accountability and use it as an excuse to turn it into hate which then influencers/youtubers can blame the hate and kind of wait it out until people forget or move on from their bad actions.
I think there's a combo effect here. There are the people who take it too far as you said but then there are the die hard stans who excuse everything away. The whole James Charles mess and anything to do with Jeffree Star are prime examples (not the only obviously). James never really addressed a lot of things that had been brought up (some yes) and people just decided his half-a apology meant everything was fine now and he never had to grow from it. At the same time though, he gets reamed out for literally anything he does now and a good amount of it isn't warranted at all. I'm NOT a James fan, never have and never will, but while I'm fully happy to discuss what he needs to own up to and hopefully grow from, I'm also fully willing to defend him when he's being accused of crap that isn't true or is just idiotic. Same deal with Jaclyn, criticize on thing things that need to be addressed, and leave the talk about her face/family/health/etc alone. That's not relevant and should not be on the table. I think the flipflopping affect comes from people who are stans and SEE there is a problem but are so desperate to find a reason that allows them to be stans. See look she said it wasn't what happened, she/he apologized so it's all good, it was just a silly misunderstanding, that other person is really the bad one, etc. The minute these particular stans have that excuse then all is good in their world and lets go damn the other person. I don't trust apology videos, I only want to see actions. I want to see people grow from this, grow into better people. Some great examples Phil DeFranco and Trevor Noah. Both have said horrible things in the past, both have owned up to that, have apologized but not tried to excuse, and have shown through words and deeds that have have grown into better people. That's what I want to see
Bretman Rock did the same: wrote a racial slur (don't remember wich one, if it wasn't the n-word was somethingon that level) when he was 15 or something on twitter and apologized before and now that it has been brought up again. He didn't excuse it, just apologized and have been doing better. On the other hand, I believe JC may be growing from last year's drama. But can't personally be sure of that.
Here ~*from the future*~ and Gabbie is seriously losing her s#!t. Gabbie's inability to accept her own responsibility for situations is REALLY a problem.
Honestly I feel very frustrated in all this. What gabbie's video told me was that she learned nothing about the whole situation. It wasnt an apology video, it was an expose video and the hipocracy in her statements honestly blew my mind. I agree with the whole cancel culture thing. Its so sad that because of a small minority taking things too far, it has given influencers this idea that they can ignore critisism because it isnt valid. I think Influencers have this idea that by writing things off as hate they can get away consequence free, and they have been proven right because die hard fans will keep supporing them. Its just really frustrating to see Gabbie and people like Jeffree star get away with everything because they refuse to acknowledge actual criticism
It's very frustrating because Gabbie is the one to bring these private matters to the public, but when the other side does the same and she ends up getting heat for it, all of a sudden she doesn't believe in "exposing" and that "private matters should be handled privately"?? Girl, it was private until you showed those screenshots on your ig, you're also the one who showed private messages and shared private matters to a fan.. But then she uses the excuse that she got blocked by Jessie and Trisha ( which she would NEVER do of course) to make that video that was awfully well timed.. I don't think Gabbie is necesarily a bad person per say, but even this video had manipulative undertones, with her saying that no matter how mean trisha and jessie were to her, and how they blocked her, she's still there for them; portraying herself as the kind one and them as bad for blocking her, which they are allowed to do.
I get really frustrated when I see some of these people not get any or very little repercussions for their actions. Gabbie is, was and I assume will probably always be a very manipulative and arrogant person. She thinks people owe her and I think that is a problem with many RUclipsrs. It's just that I know she will never learn... she was still blaming Jessi and taking away the focus (saying she blocked her and that it had to have happened in private acting as if she's the bigger person hence painting the rivalry as immature, making people subconsciously take a new stance). As I said it is so frustrating when people don't see through her act. Even the fact that she only decided to dress it because it was clearly beneficial to her. Most people already forgot about the Trisha drama and it seemed like she was really trying to address surface-level matters so that everything else she has done would just be swept under the carpet.
You are so spot on. I wish the people who need to hear this could hear this. Like really hear it, process it, contemplate it, and realize what their words are doing. Holding people accountable and just blatantly hating on people are two different things.
Gabbie is known for trash talking, a few years ago she trash talked a roommate of hers who's not a public person to a point where the aunt (I think she was her aunt) of that person made a video where she said that the roommate found out about the video through her friends and was extremely hurt in her actual life.
I think the negative side of cancel culture on the creators’ end, is that anytime they do something problematic and get genuinely called on it, they hide behind the excuse that cancel culture is toxic. It’s made it nearly impossible to actually hold shitty people accountable.
In the end she didn't apologize for anything important or problematic/toxic. She shared delicate information to basically a stranger, about a person's mental health and tried to use her medication as a "proof" that she's a bad person and she also did that to multiple people. She's a manipulative person and her "apology" video shows exactly that. She took her time to dig up dirt on everyone else,in a try to turn the narrative in her favour while contradicting EVERYTHING she claims is a WRONG behaviour. Instead of using this time to think to herself and try to understand people's criticism, she named all of that "hate"and puled out-yet again-the victim card, while advertising her upcoming projects. At this point it's a i-said-she-said situation.
I just wanna say you are so well spoken and smart and I think you explained the situation so well. I really agree with you about how toxic "holding influencers accountable" has become.
I love what you said about holding people accountable vs. cancel culture. I think cancel culture is disgusting because it basically insinuates that if a person does one bad thing or makes one mistake, they are done and can never be redeemed. People basically decide that they are worthless and do not matter as a human being anymore. But at the same time, someone who makes a mistake like Gabbie or anyone else should be held accountable and needs to take responsibility for their actions, and face the consequences. Which does NOT mean death threats, body shaming, encouraging self-harm etc.
I am very uncomfortable with Internet personalities or celebrities dming fans. I get it can be innocent. I do think some people just want to interact with their fan base. There are definitely situations where they have become friends. But I think people like Gabbie have too much power that it can too soon be a case of manipulation or a false friendship. I don’t know, it comes off as a red flag to me.
u said EVERYTHING i was thinking about the "cancel culture" i don't think a lot of people get it. this week it happened with doja cat, and it showed me how people can believe in a thread in twitter by a user so easily and don't look up for themselfs, because after one day all was cleared out, but this didn't get so much "likes" so it didin't get to a lot of people. it's funny because normally i try to defend the "cancel culture", saying is just another way to call "making acontable" but this time i got to see a other side that i never really cared to look up. i saw the comments on the last photo from instagram from doja and it was terrible. it really made me think how we can make people accontable but that this 2% doesn't happen. hope i wrote it ok i'm from brazil and it was a long text lol
It just feels to me as though a lot of people aren’t actually thinking about the situation from both sides when they watch expose or response videos. It seems they take a person’s word as fact without taking the time to look into it, to get an educated opinion. Seems like they are having the mindset of guilty before proven innocent. Like a continuous flip flopping witch hunt. We should look at things as impartially as we can, in my opinion. 😊 love the video Hannah, good work
You are one of the FEW people on this platform that speaks straight facts! I always look forward to your analysis of these types of these scandals because you are fair but firm in your stance and you’re super insightful. I always learn something from watching your videos 💕
I think before cancel culture we let a lot of people get away with a lot of things. Unfortunately sometimes being a fan of someone could make us ignore their wrongdoings. Calling out people keeps them accountable. For example when we didn’t know make up you tubers were being sponsored and we were just buying a bunch of junk because we thought they cared about us and wanted us to have the best product. Being aware helps us be better consumers. I truly feel for the hate they get but sometimes it feels they wanna use that hate to shield themselves from any constructive criticism. But then there’s the problem of people who write such hateful things or feel that you tubers are so accesible. Idk lol both the audience and content creators need to chill out. love your videos btw!
You don't know anything about her apart from what she shows online. You definitely don't know if she is a narcissist (what does that even mean?). And I really hate it when people do this (calling somebody they don't like a narcissist or a sociopath) because it dehumanizes them. I don't think we should tell ppl not to empathize with somebody (if that somebody hasn't done something absolutely horrific) because I don't think less empathy is the way to make the internet (or the world in general) a less toxic space. I'm sorry if this comment comes off very confrontational. I'm not attacking you directly, I just saw your comment and felt like I needed to give my opinion because this is something I see a lot and it bothers me.
@@imaginareality These kids read a few things on the Internet about some personality disorder and then think they're the experts, going around diagnosing everyone left and right. I mean, why do we even have psychiatrists, you know actual doctors with years of education and training, when we have these pop culture psychology genuises running around. Also: the absolute IRONY of diagnosing someone with a narcissistic personality disorder yet in the same sentence urging people not to empathize with them is brilliant.
I just love your go/to opening for your videos. Just makes me smile a bit always when you say “I hope you are having an amazing day. Hello” Random but thanks for that consistency
Why do ppl dm fans with their private crap. Colleen, gabbie etc. it’s so so so weird. Why would someone dm a total stranger with private important stuff. How is this normal?
Here’s the thing: if you’ve done something super shitty to someone, your fan base deserves to know because they give you your career and may have experienced those things which she is/was insensitive to
I will say that I have stopped watching ALL drama channels and I wish they would behave like you on these stories because you are so fair and drama is not what you are trying to stir...you are just telling the truth. I appreciate it. Canceling just works if you are done with a RUclipsr. I am just over James Charles, Manny Mua, Laura Lee, Nakita Dragun, Tati Westbrook and Gabriel Zamora. I just watch the beauty channels l like for the makeup. That’s all. I’m happy to live a drama-free life.
Cancel culture got appropriated full stop. Like the first time I heard it used against someone it was when Surviving R Kelly was coming out and people were protesting radio stations playing his music. It became a way instead of calling out and canceling actually dangerous people and then became just a stupid internet yelling mob. I really hate it. Because now there is the whole “cancel cancel culture!” Movement because they do just generalize it with random hate rather than trying to call out and stop the behaviors of toxic and dangerous people in certain industries.
I’m not saying Alx is in the right, but seeing as how many times she “low key” dragged him through the mud repeatedly with ZERO second thought, I can’t blame him.
1 second on the video and I was astonished with your make up and how pretty you look! amazing, I love your looks ^^ also thanks for explaining things clearly, always good content!
Whenever I check out a trending tag of a celebrity or influencer or those (name)isoverparty tags, it’s flooded with people who never stanned in the first place. Lot of the top tweets I’d see are stuff like “never liked them in the first place” or “about time” always act like they been knew. They don’t actually cancel since they never supported the person in the beginning, they’re just feeling the need to... I guess flaunt? Or enjoy the cancelling of someone they never liked. And then people who really only ever know the influencer by name check these tags and join the “cancel party” despite not even being interested in the person to begin with. That’s where the majority of hate comes from I believe. It’s people genuinely satisfied with someone being exposed rather than devastated and they take pleasure in knocking them down. I don’t think poking fun at problematic people to kind of put them in their place isn’t necessarily bad as long as you’re not just being a bully and you’re making a point out of it.
Personally I feel like people can never do right by the internet. If they don't apologize they're avoiding it, or got something to hide, or if they do apologize they are manipulative. The thing is, nobody is perfect and everybody makes mistakes. We live in a world where mental health is more important then ever, advocated and talked about, yet cancel culture is ok still. We need to be more forgiving to everyone in general, remember we are all human.
A cuppa tea with Lucy i after with this so much. I see people going after other Internet personalities saying they’re apologies are “manipulative” without really giving them a shot to see if the person actually changed! It irritates the hell out of me.
Whenever Hannah does these types of videos I always think of Peter Monn and how i'm *flips fan open* i'm so early for hannah's great breakdown of this issue this time (drama class being Peter's thing and all 🤭) love you Hannah!
This video is feeding into cancel culture. Gabbie is a human. You are a human. No wonder she didn’t want to talk about anything. She apologized for talking to the fan.
It’s all a bunch of pageantry and theatrics. I am sick of these influencers WORDS. I choose to judge them by their actions. If there’s a tangible change in their direction and actions after the fact, that’s far more valuable.
Gabbie's apology really just sent all her viewers running to Jessi's channel to verbally abuse her.
This is exactly my point 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I dont think she should be held responsible for other people's actions when she made it clear that she didn't want people to continue pitting jesse & herself against eachother after she said her peace
But can’t we say the same about Jessi’s truth video? She should be able to tell her truth as well
candle jenner I think the fact that Gabbie’s fans and stans have been bullies and harassing people for years and Gabbie hasn’t publicly told them to stop-and even during the inabber interview defended their behavior-turns it from “not her responsibility” to “at this point she needs to do SOMETHING”.
@@candlejenner5558 Someone with her platform size should. All she has to do is tell them to cut that ish out, since stans are just stupid lemmings.
I’m tired of people apologizing for their mistakes. None of them mean it. An Apology without action is just words.
THIS! I’ve been saying this forever. You can talk all you want but I want to SEE actual change.
@@anyalaASMR Manny MUA is a good example of how to do it.
I was discussing this with a Gabbi fan (or stan) when she called me I-don't-remember-what becauseshe thought I demanded anapology from her and that if I stuck to a quote like "manage your expectations" I'm petty:
I'm petty.
Words are all you are going to get.
the extent to which gabbie lacks self awareness is genuinely shocking
Right!!!! Like how she gon play the victim when the victim is literally Jessi??? Like just drop it if you’re not gonna respond w a video don’t do it....but also don’t come back 6 months later pretending to be pressed about your name being in her video for a second
Her dm'ing a fan repeatedly, even after the convo was initially done, also shows a serious impulse control problem.
It reminds me of the Colleen situation. I was also just informed they both involved minors. Even without the age difference there is a power imbalance and possibly ( and with Gabbie, probably) an ego aspect as well.
@@scaredbi Gabbi DMd a 15 and a 17 yo fans, as far as I remember.
Lucía Blaügeschutz oh shit. I didn’t know that sorry
Her apology video has literally no negative comments. She is so intensely monitoring her comments. There was no criticism. That bothered me.
Saying Gabby uses the internet as a diary when it's not meant for that is something I think many people need to think about when it comes to personal internet useage
I really feel this is like--THE TEA™️
Right, sharing your life and thoughts and feelings to a certain extent is good to connect with your audience and feel like you’re being your true self BUT oversharing by airing yours or someone else’s dirty laundry and fights and sharing personal info about others and talking bad about others is just too much. Save it for closed doors and close friends and family.
Exactly. It's a place for freedom of expression and exploration, but it's still a public place.
@@scaredbi yes, definitely. And just saying "everyone is so sensitive now, get over it". I can't stand that.
you're so right about Lana! from what I saw online, before she posted her response post most people were like hey that sounds kind of racist what do you mean by that? like I didn't see many people outright canceling her but more just questioning what she meant which like... fair bc that post functionally was very hard to follow and if you aren't like... personally invested in her it's easy to interpret what she said as racist bc her entire point was really muddy and unclear.
and then she did the whole "this is toxic cancel culture" thing and said everyone who thinks what she said could be interpreted as racist is the actual racist and NOW she's canceled when if she was just like "hey, didn't realize I came across as racist, I meant this instead" she would prob be doing better. this like... super strong anti-cancel culture is honestly becoming worse than cancel culture.
like at this point most people aren't super permanently affected by cancel culture, people survive, look at jeffree star/gabbie hanna/a million other people who have been canceled but went on relatively unscathed/able to still do their careers and live. obv it remains to be seen but I feel like the same people that would've been chill if she approached the situation reasonably are going to continue to not like her/cancel her bc of how she reacted to the situation. saying you couldn't possibly be racist and that everyone else is when people ask for clarification on an easily misunderstood post is... not it.
Because she have her her music single coming out that day, that's why she decided to address the situation all of the sudden
She also conveniently forgot to address the “his friends didn’t r*pe you” comment she allegedly made 🙄 over the gaslighting
Yes!
I noticed that too. That's a huge point she missed intentionally because it's so disgusting to say.
Thank you!! That is honestly the main issue I had with the allegations against her and she didn’t address it... most likely because she actually said it.
That's what I said!!!! The was the ONE thing Jessi said was the point of no return and Gabbie didnt address it... Wtf!!!
Didn't gabbie claim she never said that
As a therapist myself, I’d like to point all the RUclips people to Dr. Harriet Lerner and her 9 steps to truly apologizing.....just saying
Thank you finally!
I am doing it with all the people I have made the choice to not support.
Same; I mostly get my info about people I don’t support from smaller channels like Smokey Glow or through compilations because it keeps me updated and entertained without supporting them.
Finally! Someone who DIDN’T like Gabbie’s apology! She is still manipulative and I can’t stand it.
Angelika also made a video!
Yes! Gabbie still never addressed her saying, " Curtis's friends didn't rape you Jessi."
i think more people disliked it but gabbie deleted their comments 😶
Yes. Absolutely. This is so fucking well said.
This this this this!
Dude this was better than most school essays I’ve ever read/edited. 10/10, I agree with all of your points and how they are supported.
Thank god for you for reminding me that actual adults can see through Gabbie’s bullshit because the internet has been seriously discouraging after her video came out.
So glad that Hannah isn’t buying into Gabbie’s bs, like everyone else is 🤦🏼♀️
I agree and omg I love your profile pic like did you draw that? O.o that is freaking awesome!
@@Lady_DeathUwu Hey, the drawing is by Qinni, who sadly passed away in February of this year
Thank you so much it's freaking amazing!
she’s just a manipulator, thru and thru. she’s never changed. she’s still the same person she’s always been. no one should have to say how nice they are or how good or generous of a person they are constantly. she’s the common denominator in every situation. she’s the problem. idk if she’s lying to her therapist and that’s why she’s not able to grow but she needs to get a grip and change. action speak louder than words. she’s not sorry imo.
i just can’t believe there’s absolutely no correlation with this apology and her music coming out later that day.
I agree!
Jessi: *makes an entire video about Gabby*
Gabbie:
Jessi: *mentions Gabbie once*
Gabbie: Time to talk.
More like? Gabbie: makes multiple videos on RUclips, Instagram live, and snapchat talking about Jessie
Jessie: finally says something
Gabbie: “omg I cant handle when people talk about private things!!! Keep it private so no one can see how horrible I am!!”
@@haleydorian4914 she literally said in the video she'd never shit talk jessie. After shit talking Jessie! Was so ridiculous.

Gabbie’s video was literally her trying to redirect all the hate she was getting onto Alex James and Jessie Smiles way.
And I feel like it does not encourage growth (unless ofc if what they do is immensely terrible).
amxsh free Gabbie
some constructive criticism the light of the video doesn't show your face too much it gives cozy vibes but I feel a little light on your face would make it look more professional.
Least she shows her face 🤷🏻♀️ Unlike some drama channels.
Agreed! I prefer her videos that are more lit up and brighter 💡
Vandellia Gabrielle it’s just constructive criticism, definitely not hate in any way :)
@@vandelliagabrielle7182 Is she a drama channel, though? Pretty sure she said she wasn't since she does MU, too. Lighting is important.
Also a coincidence that Gabbie released a song almost immediately after, oop
Couldn't have anything at all to do with the fact that she was releasing new music that day 😒 Nobody's buying it, Gabbie.
I feel as though Gabbie always needs justification and approval, especially when she comes under fire or feels she is wrong or guilty.
at first I thought it was as good of an apology as we could ever expect from her and she gained a little respect back then I saw that like the next day she posted that vlog where she cried through the whole thing about how she gets bullied all the time and it totally negated everything for me :/
Yep!! How’s she going to claim victim when she was the instigator ??
Couple years ago I worked as a customer service rep for a VERY popular bank, she had an account under The Gabbie Show back then, called in and called me a peasant, stupid, laughed at me. Along with some other girl who was on the phone. Never liked her since then. Horrible person behind closed doors.
holy shit seriously?
What!!! Omg what happened ??
It almost doesnt even matter if they apologize, people r gonna think what they think regardless
I'm about 5 seconds into the video and just wanted to comment that you look absolutely fabulous today!
you are seriously so intelligent and eloquent, I love hearing your take on youtube drama because I can always count on it being of a certain caliber of quality. Thank you!!
would you consider doing a video on ashley/best dressed? i trust your judgement there's a lot of surfacing videos about her being a problematic faux feminist, her shelling out for amazon, her not following quarantine rules, and (what bothers me most) her overly hyper sexual comments to her mostly underage fan base. i'd love to know your thoughts on the matter!
And that could be solved by teaching logic and scientific thinking since 1st grade. So easy.
Lucía Blaügeschutz absolutely!
Everyone is a sheep.
My timing on this one was impeccable 👌
finally someone is talking about this!
Personally I find james and jaclyn are much more likable than gabbie
Most people already forgot about the Trisha drama and it seemed like she was really trying to address surface-level matters so that everything else she has done would just be swept under the carpet.
a big reason why i like your videos is that they're never hateful. you criticize and give credit where its due, but never hate on the person
I love your lighting in this girl ❤️ makes me feel like I’m cozy sippin my tea 😂
whenever i see your notifications for commentary videos i get so happy!!! the best!!!
It’s made it nearly impossible to actually hold shitty people accountable.
oooooooooo I'm SO ready to hear your take on this
Your whole outlook on cancel culture was SO well said! Girl you took the words right out of my mouth, love it
Your makeup *chef's kiss* 😍
Gabbie is not a good person. That has been proven time and time again. Period.

off topic but i love how sincere you are in your intro/outros it’s so refreshing and heartwarming it really makes me wanna be a better person.
I don’t know, it comes off as a red flag to me.
ugh idk, Gabbie specifically calls everything, including constructive criticism, hate.
u said EVERYTHING i was thinking about the "cancel culture" i don't think a lot of people get it.
this week it happened with doja cat, and it showed me how people can believe in a thread in twitter by a user so easily and don't look up for themselfs, because after one day all was cleared out, but this didn't get so much "likes" so it didin't get to a lot of people.
it's funny because normally i try to defend the "cancel culture", saying is just another way to call "making acontable" but this time i got to see a other side that i never really cared to look up. i saw the comments on the last photo from instagram from doja and it was terrible.
it really made me think how we can make people accontable but that this 2% doesn't happen.
hope i wrote it ok i'm from brazil and it was a long text lol
Gabbie trying to stay relevant, I actually wonder why she still has fans?

UGH I love your videos you always cover all sides and speak with so much reason it's so refreshing!!
There’s no solution. The vocal minority will continue to be vocal. The rest of us need to just unsubscribe and move along.
off topic you look amazing. i haven’t watched since december ish and youre glowinggggggggggg. you’ve always been glowing ofc but girlllll
I also feel now people of platforms have so much more to apologize for, so alot are not sounding authentic
I always learn something from watching your videos 💕
youre literally so kind its.. unreal. i feel so safe in your online "presence" if that makes sense
She’s a narcissist. You can try to empathize with her but there’s no point to
You don't know anything about her apart from what she shows online.
@imaginareality she’s a bully why r we trying to redeem bullies
I just love your go/to opening for your videos. Just makes me smile a bit always when you say “I hope you are having an amazing day. Hello”
Random but thanks for that consistency
Why do ppl dm fans with their private crap. Colleen, gabbie etc. it’s so so so weird. Why would someone dm a total stranger with private important stuff. How is this normal?
wait but this looooook though- the shirt/necklace combo? The hair? The lashes? Hannah is glooooowingg
Yay. Was waiting for this. You look beautiful. Much love from buff♡
You're so well-spoken! Thank you for putting my exact thoughts about 'cancel culture' into such clear and concise words ☺️
1 second on the video and I was astonished with your make up and how pretty you look! amazing, I love your looks ^^
also thanks for explaining things clearly, always good content!
If you have to apologize more than five times, you're not sorry. You could just be kind and not need to apologise
Whenever Hannah does these types of videos I always think of Peter Monn and how i'm *flips fan open* i'm so early for hannah's great breakdown of this issue this time (drama class being Peter's thing and all 🤭) love you Hannah!
on an unrelated note, i’ve been using your Midas palette almost every day. absolutely love it. 🎉
This video is feeding into cancel culture. Gabbie is a human. You are a human. No wonder she didn’t want to talk about anything. She apologized for talking to the fan.
Tbh you seem like the kindest person on earth, I just found out about your channel today and I love it!!!
It’s all a bunch of pageantry and theatrics. I am sick of these influencers WORDS. I choose to judge them by their actions. If there’s a tangible change in their direction and actions after the fact, that’s far more valuable.
I feel like some people get so easily swayed by the initial drama and then if they cry in their apology they immediately forgive.
I LOVE YOU!
You’re makeup is so pretty today!!!
saying your intro with you has become the highlight of my day
THANK YOUUUU!! Honestly just summarized all of my thoughts into one amazing video! I am honestly just over Gabbie and her drama
