My pleasure Ian, I only made a couple of Pike films last year, but I hope to make a few more this winter. Thank you for your comments and the best of luck.
This is the best video I've came across on RUclips about deadbaiting for pike well explained clear information and a good video all round well done sir you earned a subscriber 👌🏻
Hi. This is just what I need to know re. pike fishing. Many thanks, and thanks again for not using the truly awful music that usually accompanies such videos. Regards. Ray
Great video Richard. Some very familiar looking swims there too, including a couple I've been in. :) Looking forward to getting out doing this shortly myself.
Thanks for a very informative video. You explained set up brilliantly and kept it simple so even I could understand it. Hopefully get out soon to try for my first pike
Superb collection of videos. Just subscribed and spent last night and this morning learning how to tie knots which have evaded me for years. Many, many thanks for your videos. They are some of the very best on RUclips. Well done sir !
Good video 👍 and true info .... get to know your river and pike are mostly close in at the bank at winter...plus you can't beat a paternoster rig when it comes to piking. .. floating or ledgering I always use it to sucsess ....
over the past 2 years I have been fishing rivers more very useful. I'll concentrate on the margins in future I like to fish in deeper areas and the back of eddies but have over looked some margin areas.
Your animations are amazing! I work in Manufacturing and want to create something like them for my work showing first aid movement and how to position in recovery position in the kind of stop motion frames you have here? Can you help me how to make it?
Hello Richard, love the videos. I'm struggling a bit at the moment with my pike fishing. I've only had one out this year. How would you go about fishing a deep water such as an old quarry? My place is almost 30ft in some places. It has a good amount of pike in and some absolutely massive ones too. Deep water or margins during the colder months in still water? Cheers!
thanks your effort putting this together is appreciated. Interesting you recommend the bomb link to be a few inches shorter than the trace. Mick Brown emphasises that it's the bomb link that is longer than the trace. Just wondering your thoughts behind this?
I have a short link on my distance rig, the first rig. I find it has better presentation and less likely to tangle on the cast. I have no concerns over the Pike feeling the weight because it is balanced. Not sure what Mick does, all I can say is that all rigs must be considered in context, hope this helps. Best of luck and thanks for your comment.
just a question what lead weight do you use? had some very weird bites where I could feel the pike moving the bait with its head i could feel him on the line striked and nothing happened multiple times!
I don't think in terms of deep and shallow water, I only think about the best way to present the bait to the Pike. So, any situation where the main line enters the water at a steep angle, close to the bank or in deeper water for example, I use the second rig with the sliding trace. Hope this helps.
Iam a never move you spot man. Turn up and found someone else fishing in the spot i was going to fish and set up in the next spot to him. He packed up. Early. So i thought move into his swim. And moved all my kit over first leaving the rods in as i did it. It wasn't far. When i returned to pick the rods up. If waa running. Away with it. 15 lb. Pike. 20 mins later. 18lb pike. Hour later. 19lb pike. And. I think the. Same15lb again. Not sure. You move spots and miss feeding time. Hold your spot. And wait. Don't away s Work but when it does its worth it.
great video. no hideous banging tunes, great animations, nicely filmed and well narrated. very easy to watch. I've subscribed. thank you :)

Excellent, really enjoyed watching this.
Excellent and informative videos - very enjoyable
I'd love to have a chat about how to rig this or other. You're very knowledgeable.
You are very kind, thank you.

Every river is different and I can only report what I have found, but I feel sure you will not be disappointed. Very best of luck.

Pike follow their prey, locate the silvers and that's where the Pike will be. Best of luck.
great video you have made!
Thank you very much.

Great video! Keep it up!
Thank's very much !
Is it better to fish down the margins in the slacks or in the deep main flow of river for pike in the summer
Spot on vid man
Great video
Thanks.
Great video, just wondering would be nice to see your pop up rig for deadbaits.. subed
To be honest I don't have a particular rig, I just use pop-up sticks on the rare occasions I want the bait to pop-up.
just a question what lead weight do you use? had some very weird bites where I could feel the pike moving the bait with its head i could feel him on the line striked and nothing happened multiple times!
I use just enough weight to hold bottom. If the bait is damaged it could be very small pike or eels pulling at the bait..
Enjoy your vids. What do you call deep water?
I don't think in terms of deep and shallow water, I only think about the best way to present the bait to the Pike. So, any situation where the main line enters the water at a steep angle, close to the bank or in deeper water for example, I use the second rig with the sliding trace. Hope this helps.
Yes it does thanks.i will try this rig in our rivers that run to the sea for Mullaway (Australia).
Please let us know how you get on, best of luck.
Could you make a detailed how to pike fish video? Thanks
I only fish for Pike in the winter, it will be November before I add any more videos. A channel called River Piker may be of use to you.
thanks so much would you reccomend having a deadbait out and spinning or using lures around it someone told me to do that should i?
Dead bait if the water is cloudy, lure if the water is clear. I prefer to concentrate on one method at a time.
Amateur Angling ok thanks very much have u got any other social medias ?
Iam a never move you spot man. Turn up and found someone else fishing in the spot i was going to fish and set up in the next spot to him. He packed up. Early. So i thought move into his swim. Do you mind me asking what rod/reel combo you are using?
I am using a Fox eos 10000 reel and a Greys Carp rod, hope this helps.
Great
In the second rig ? How heavy is the Lead ?
As light as possible, best of luck.
Richard, Where was this filmed, please?
Mostly the very excellent Hassocks Angling fisheries, namely Hamsey, Wineham and Cemetery Wood.
50 lb line🤣🤣20 is enough
You obviously don't know much about Pike fishing !
