    The begg knives version is still made in China. Having seen them both side by side the differences are plenty obvious. I’d call it “inspired by” not “ripped off copy of”. No controversy at all in my opinion. There’s only so many ways to make a knife really and for a lot of people they’d buy a name just like Jeep and Harley people do. They’ll buy a $30 belt for $180 that’s still made in China because it’s got a Harley stamp pressed into it.

    I bought one when the local store opened up this year. I made it my EDC about a month ago and I like it. The way the G10 and carbon fiber create texture and the good steel is worth the $40. I’ve bought a few more just to put back.Mine says it’s a IK24

    I saw this video last night, picked up the last ik23 at the local harbor freight today, first impression is it definitely feels like a high quality knife compared to the cheap gas station, walmart, dollar store etc folders most people have experience with. Out of the box it has a really nice edge flips super smooth, and it feels like its using a magnet to keep the blade retained when closed?

    First off, great review, I purchased one of the Icon knives about a month ago and have been very satisfied with it, I had one problem, after a week or so, I broke the pocket clip off, shoving it into my pocket. I had it for two wks and took it back with recept and had no problem getting a replacement. If it still has a good return poliçy in 10 yrs, who knows ??? But for the price, its gonna make an excellent daily carry.

    To be honest. I was able to snag the new Icon knife for about 23$ and some change after some of the sales harbor freight was running for ITC members and of course some coupons as well. And I can not name a better knife for 23 or even 40 bucks really. Plus all icon tools have life time warranties on them and that’s where your value really goes to. Is that you won’t ever have to buy another one. Just bring it it and they’ll swap it out for you. Can’t beat that deal lol

      @@BIGSTANK1983 well that warranty is only as good as its stock and production. You'll likely just get a refund if they can't exchange it. Lots of great 40 dollar knives with a replacement warranty that have been in production for decades. Like...the Ontario Rat and several kershaw models.
      Not taking anything from the warranty, but I tried to replace a wrench and unfortunately...that "exact" wrench isn't produced anymore so that warranty is void. As long as it's in production and in stock , you're coveted though. 😎✌️

    I think maybe Begg Knives and Icon Tools are getting more exposure with this controversy to make everyone happy. I don't go to Harbor Freight for knives, so I never would have taken a second look. I watched Cutlerylover made a good point on his video. Most everything sold at Harbor Freight is a copy, so why should we worry if they aren't trying to pass it off as a more expensive brand and charging accordingly.

    • @apex_alchemy_knives
      @apex_alchemy_knives  Год назад

      Yeah I was talking to somebody the other day about that. Channel Lock is a brand, Vice Grips was a brand, Phillips was a brand, Allen was a brand. All these tool companies are copying original designs. I understand the patent is out by several decades but...when case released the Hammerhead ...the Buck 110 was barely a decade old. It's all relative. I feel like if there is any major discrepancy, it'll be worked out and should be pretty open / close.

  • @Rampantdunningkrugeraffect
    @Rampantdunningkrugeraffect Год назад +4

    I hold no stock in the this design copies this design. As long as it doesn’t try to fool someone with brand logo and all of that. Fact is every knife is a copy of thousands of years of copies. Good knives are all shaped the same way if you want it to actually cut well. Back in the day I had to spend tons of money for a decent guitar. Now I have squires that play better than my American guitars, Japanese guitars, you name it. Most of the knives I like I know weren’t worth the money at all and could have gotten something way cheaper and done the same thing lol but oh well, we want what we want. Don’t need to spend tons of money though nowadays to get something decent. Not everyone is willing to spend tons of money on a knife or have the means to. Or willing to spend the money for one regardless. Most American knives went way past the returns you get for spending the money for one. If knife guys are bitching about prices of knives, and they are the only ones willing to pay the absurd prices, then you know you have a big problem lol. I fall into the last camp. Have the money but refuse to pay the prices for what you get. I’ll wear out a $20 knife just as fast as a few hundred dollar knife. They are consumable products if you use them. Most of the time I can’t tell any difference in steels. Use them hard enough they all dull. Question is do you want to spend more time sharpening or not.

    Is anybody going to buy a $300 knife to abuse and ruin by using it for what it's not supposed to be used for in a pinch No. This is an awesome tool that is also a wonderful knife. People who use a tool for work do not want something that's a throwaway tool how many people weld a socket to a bolt and then have the socket warrantied just about everybody that's abuse that was not intended by the tool manufacturer but they still replace it that's what harbor freight is no questions asked
