Gorilla Glass 4 and 5 are actually more shatter resistant, but they're scratch magnets. My S7 Edge is so populated with micro scratches that it became really annoying after a while.
Ezaya Kashiwazaki I wouldn't trade Samsung's design language for anything HTC has put up over the years. Too much bezzels, poor use of space. Aluminium is kinda overrated, you don't need a tank, but a nicely shaped piece of tech.
Ezaya Kashiwazaki Not necessarily, a compromise is the best solution. If you're gunning for just the durability, then buy a phone from Samsung's Active lineup or a KAT tank, smth like that. It's more durable than any HTC to date
The question in regards to Gorilla glass choice by LG is easily explainable. LG did testing and you can find out more about the testing procedures and agency that conducted the test online. The G6 is MIL-STD-810G certified against drops and temperatures. The choices they made with the G6 overall construction allowed for a durable phone
Reason being for using gg3 instead of 5 for the front is because the glass is thicker, for the g6s design thicker glass will make the phone more shatter resistant
GG5 is more resistant to scratches but more brittle. It might be a weird choice from a pure numbered evaluation instead of actual spec sheet wise revision.
If I wasn't into tech I wouldn't even know the lg g6 existed, yet it's a dope phone that has almost everything to offer, I prefer it over the s8 cause I hate that curve screen and fingerprint position
Tyler Barron dont agree with you.I have read a lot of reports for lg g flex 2 for instance after heaving bootloop om my flex 2.Actually I have 2 bootloop isues on my phone.First time they replaced motherboard and again the new motherboard is faulght.
Ritesh Tripathy Haha. I remember when Samsung said they where going to trim up their model lines. Then they came out with MORE model of the same phones....
cybertec69 I disagree. Because based on using newer phones like one plus 3t and HTC U11 I immediately noticed minor scratches on the screen which is a shame. This is something that didn't happen with older models flagships
Correct. Gorilla glass 5 is more flexible, making it less prone to actually shattering/breaking. This does mean it's more prone to cratch. The Gorilla glass 3 is less sturdy in drops, but does scratch less easily. In my opinion it's the best choice: I don't want my front screen to shatter from a drop and I will protect it from scratches with a screen protector, but the back panel glass is not integrated with the display, thus easy and cheap to repair.
Gorilla Glass 3 is actually better at scratch resistance and the GG5. GG5 are a lot more prone to scratches due to the enhancements to the shatter tech
Nice review. But please stop complaining about thickness. A) Phones are becoming so thin that they become hard to weild, and B) according to gsmarena, the S8 is actually 0.1 mm thicker. Now removing that protective lip around the main camera on the back of the S8, I'd say the S8 is 0.4 mm (max) thinner than the G6. The main difference in feel is from the much more angular shape of the sides on the G6 opposed to the very rounded sides of the S8
Gorilla glass 3 is less scratch resistant man, but maybe less shatter resistant. The skin can easily be changed through themes, i have a near stock Android skin, looking great
@kevin the tech ninja On the contrary, gorilla glass 5 is more shatter resistant, and in the process of making a more shatter resistant they have to give the bonds that hold the glass more flex, and in the interim of doing that the glass itself is a little less scratch resistant, gorilla glass 3 on the other hand is less shatter resistant which is on the flipside of the specs of a gorilla glass five being more,so therefore since it's less shatter resistant the internal bonds of the glass are more together and not so far apart so therefore it can handle more scratching from harder objects
I have the G6 and after a couple weeks the rear camera glass was shattered. The glass has a hole where the flash is, which I think makes it fragile. Mine was also in a Incipio case since day 1. My previous phone was a Samsung S2, I carried it for almost 6 years no problem.
An investment in a case is a must if you want the phone to keep looking new. However, if somebody else handled case installation for you, _really_ take it apart, wear some gloves and clean it up before re-assembly just to be sure it's sparkly before you cover it up. The entire thing is glass all around so there's no reason why not.
I guess it's because many will just slap on a temper glass screen protector on the front rather than the back, which explains why they chose the cheaper GS3.
Gorilla Glass 3 on flat screen is a way to go for me, you can always put a protective glass for around 10$ and no problem not like on S8 where is hard to find a good protection! Until next video all the best.
There's a feature in Gestures that lets you answer the phone by putting it to your ear...except that most of the time it doesn't work. Thought it was my phone, but when I took it to the Sprint store the demo version had the same problem. Tests confirmed it was not a hardware problem and LG basically told me to deal with it. It's a little thing, but it was one of my favorite features in the G3, and every time the phone rings I still put it to my ear like an idiot.
Nice review Kevin! I've had my (silver) G6 for almost a week now and love it! Coming from a LG 4-year old Optimus G Pro. Like you said, I'm sold on LG phones. Still with AT&T so had to figure out how to remove the Direct TV widget and fine tune the apps provided by AT&T. Sorry Uber, don't want your app loading as a default.
What up Kev, another good video. My wife loves her G6, and the camera really, really had me thinking about switching from my S8. Hope your wife's feels better, I got 3 kids of my own and my wife had some difficulties. But anyway keep up the good work. God bless
Hey bro think of it this way you'll definitely get a screen protector right ? ( I mean who doesn't if they want the screen to last regardless what glass it is made of ) Lastly some people don't get a cover for their phone so i think LG did it for this reason
I can't say ive had the same g6 battery experience as the reviewer. just yesterday I was out of the house from 4 am to 7 pm, streamed about 4 hours of music, watched an hour of video and dinged around on f book and still had 25% when I got home. and thats with always on display turned on.
Dario Bastianiello for real? I've been wanting this phone since it came out but I can't afford the €550-600 my country asks for it. How do you like it?
I really want to buy a smartphone but I'm very confused whether to go for Lg G6 or Htc U11 or Samsung S8. But I really like the Lg G6 more. ANY SUGGESTIONS???
Tyler. Did you say this phone is on the thicker side?! Why do people try to push for thinner phones? Thinner phones feel terribly brittle and are uncomfortable to hold. Also this screen is better than the s8 in terms of design. I couldn't stand the s8 cause it had the curved edges so my fingers that wrapped around the back of it when i held it would always end up touching the curved part of the sceeen causing me to type inaccurately.
I had a G4 but it got bootloop 2 days ago. I wanted the v30 but I needed to get a replacement phone asap for work and so I picked up the g6 today. I have to say as an upgrade from the G4 its impressive. in still gonna jump to the v30 but as of now this phone offers a lot especially when on a budget.
LGs best phone, Camera and esp wideangle is phenomenol...Battery life for 3300mAh expected screen on is 4 hrs+/- I do alot of reasearch before buying this came to the top even after S8 and onePlus5 release.
i love this phone, no regrets, ive owned a iphone 6 plus, galaxy s7 edge. the G6 is by far better looking, i love the rounded edge display, the screen is a 5.7" bigger than than all the other phones, yet the body is smaller. The longer display is phenomenal with panorama pics, and games. i love the double tap feature to lock/unlock phone.
Yeah maybe the S8's specs are better, but the G6 just feels faster, the S8 has often micro lags because of its crappy software. Had the same with my S7 Edge, after 3 months the phone was slow as a 5 year old phone. I just don't like the edges on S8, you always have to watch out to not drop it. The LG just feels solid to drop. If you don't like the LG G6 launcher, install the N Nougat launcher. Its a stock android launcher, is free and pretty fast. I'd always take the LG, even if the S8 was a less price.
Its quad core not octa core, could be a deal breaker for some people but the benchmarks are not far off from a galaxy S8 so you have nothing to worry about.
I love how people discuss lg bootloops all the time. My samsung note 2 bootlooped. Most samsung phones I have used get slower over time. I had to install a program called debloater on my pc to stop my note 4 from bugging me about updates and its been flawless. It's not that I think samsung might be slowing down their old phones with updates. It's that I know they are doing it.
Bootloop issue is always at the back of my mind as well. Phone looks good but quality control at LG needs to improve its game. They have come this far and improved so much with the optics over the years to give Samsung a real challenge. G6 better prove us all wrong in the longer run. Nice review Kevin 👍🤣
but it actually happens; had LG G4 and got bootloop 5 days after warranty expired, that totally sucked, the same day my wifes G4 had bootloop too!, but her phone still had warranty and picked a Samsung A7 instead... did some research and for what it seems they kind of improved and picked G6 since G4 was actually a great phone... except for the bootloop... rly hoping wont happen again
CarlosAGV I honestly doubt it they said they fixed it with the G6 it's been through numerous tests battery point checks shocks etc I've had mine for almost a month 64GB Quad DAC variant not a single lag especially when you put nova launcher
Nizzy Not everyone suffered but a big majority did & that includes me. I was the biggest fan of LG G4 with my videos getting thousands of views however most came back with the Bootloop issues and it kept increasing. LG is at the moment fighting a law suit from my understanding on this particular issue. It's definitely an issue like Kev mentioned as well and goes to show the quality control. It must improve with the G6. Typing on the G6 as we speak but my opinions are of course mine and no disrespect intended. Thanks
J TheAndroidFreak Totally get your point I'm just saying it's weird I've been through like 4 LG phones with heavy usage and never came across it but I'm sure they fixed it I heard that with the G6 they eliminated the problem but who knows
Great review! I fancy this over the S8. I love LG phones, and this looks like their best yet. Thanks for the cons too. I hope software updates can sort out the cameras. Cheers Kevin!
good review except one thing!!! *BATTERY* idk what you do with your phone!?!?or what phones you've used before but I get 5+ hours of screen time on highest brightness, yes I only run full brightness during the day. mostly streaming Kodi and that bad boy eats battery. you might wanna disable some apps that run in background or something because this is the best battery phone I've had yet.
why do people go on about app drawers? I find them a pain in the rear end to me you have to press more buttons to get to where you need to go and if you want more organisation put it in a folder! I say this using a s7 edge edge and i wish I could get rid of my app drawer lol
Kevin The Tech Ninja okay cool that's what's up didn't really care too much for the gimmick that is wireless charging when it only take a second to put in the real charge and it's faster. the quad deck was just much more useful. Thanks for getting back to me
G6 screen is superb white color and sharp, stylish design material, but few flaw are a bit ui lag, finger prints bit slow, most importantly snap821 is outdated.
1:03 Volume buttons "on the right hand side"? Well, I'm left-handed and they're on my "left hand side". It's like saying you want a beer mug with a right handle.
Kevin Awesome Review I have TBH I have never Been a fan of LG and all know I think they did a pretty good Job but LG used to be known for their Battery. I like your Honest opinion on the Phone. Thanks so much for sharing Appreciate Deb 👍
I feel bad for LG as I had the G2, G3, G4. Each year I had those phones I loved them but by the end of the year after all the players had put their cards on the table I always look at my LG device and felt like I was missing something. This year I was sold on the G6....until I saw the S8 and held the S8 that was on a display days before release. LG did really good this year but the design of the S8 really almost made the G6 disappear even though the G6 looks good. It having a slightly dated processor didn't help.....the front camera on my LG G4 was an awesome 8mp camera.....so how did on the G6 we're back at 5mp? LG lost me last year with the G5. That whole modular thing failed miserably. I know it was still a good phone without the gimmick but they lost me last year with that. Then it was smaller than the G4. LG is going to have to find a way to one up Samsung.....even Apple is.
Chose this phone over the s8. Had both and chose this. the user experience on the device is great, battery life is great and dont regret the choice. Samsung needs to be the next of the list to build the pixel, then that is when greatness will be achieved.
Fun fact: if the LG G6 were 16:9 instead of 18:9, the screen would be exactly the same size as the LG G2. Pillarboxed 16:9 content is 5.2" on the G6.
Gorilla Glass 4 and 5 are actually more shatter resistant, but they're scratch magnets. My S7 Edge is so populated with micro scratches that it became really annoying after a while.
Which makes me wonder why they used GG4 over the G6 cameras.
Nikola Zivanovic meanwhile, i'm enjoying my htc m8 aluminum body. 😊
Ezaya Kashiwazaki I wouldn't trade Samsung's design language for anything HTC has put up over the years. Too much bezzels, poor use of space. Aluminium is kinda overrated, you don't need a tank, but a nicely shaped piece of tech.

are you using a humidifier for edgy smoke??
Reason being for using gg3 instead of 5 for the front is because the glass is thicker, for the g6s design thicker glass will make the phone more shatter resistant
put the brightness on Auto when your outside. My G6 is very visible when I do it.
Marketing, basically. Apple and Samsung flood the planet with it and a majority of the consumer market is blinded by it.
Gorilla glass 5 is not more scratch resistant. it is actually more scratch prone that gorilla glass 3, gorilla glass 5 is thiner and is more flexible.
cybertec69 i think Gorilla glass is more shatter resistant but less Scratch resistamt
cybertec69 I disagree.
Because based on using newer phones like one plus 3t and HTC U11 I immediately noticed minor scratches on the screen which is a shame.
This is something that didn't happen with older models flagships
B. A. That's what I said.
Correct. Gorilla glass 5 is more flexible, making it less prone to actually shattering/breaking. This does mean it's more prone to cratch. The Gorilla glass 3 is less sturdy in drops, but does scratch less easily.

snapdragon 821 is quadcore
but it does the job fine . Happy with my SD 820 phone
Frank Wong no one cares.
Frank Wong chidori no kirin
Frank Wong Exynos is just a rebranded snapdragon and Kirin is mediatek crap with a different name
William Cricket lol, what? lol. tell mez how you discover that, sir?
Loving my G6, worried about future updates tho :| LG said they would ship with 7.1, still no updates.
Adam Briggs how's the battery life?
fanakongpne a little inconsistent, but averaging around 4hr screen on time. Would say I'm a moderate uses. GPS, Bluetooth always on display on.
Adam Briggs apparently LG are pretty good with andrpid updates android o put 21st august and history doctayes that lg should heet it 2-3months
I have the LG Boot Loop Phobia as well, thanks to the LG V10 which I still love (replaced under warranty)
LG OLED V30 waiting game 👍😎
GamingLaw gonna sell the G6 when LG brings OLED G7 or V30, but otherwise gorgeous phone
GamingLaw same. although I might get the OnePlus 5 in that unicorn colour 🦄
ardi du I'm interested if you do!
Nolan Milnes do you really want the European model? also they drop in price really quick.. the european model is the G6L imo, but i still like it!
Gorilla glass 3 is less scratch resistant man, but maybe less shatter resistant.
The skin can easily be changed through themes, i have a near stock Android skin, looking great
Sebastien To yup you are sir. based on my experience on note 5 that has gg5 it was easily shattered even i diddnt drop it. same goes with s7 edge
The LG G6 has a terrible selfie camera. My LG G4 took better selfies.
Two days in, my only complaint is the voice recorder via text requires you HOLD the record button while speaking. Pre recording is a must
@kevin the tech ninja
On the contrary, gorilla glass 5 is more shatter resistant, and in the process of making a more shatter resistant they have to give the bonds that hold the glass more flex, and in the interim of doing that the glass itself is a little less scratch resistant, gorilla glass 3 on the other hand is less shatter resistant which is on the flipside of the specs of a gorilla glass five being more,so therefore since it's less shatter resistant the internal bonds of the glass are more together and not so far apart so therefore it can handle more scratching from harder objects

How is the camera compared to the LG G4, because the specs say that the G4 has an equal, if not better, camera
When I see the settings app in tab mode (node list) on G6, it feels like you didn't even tryed. I just leave
There's a feature in Gestures that lets you answer the phone by putting it to your ear...except that most of the time it doesn't work. I can't decide between this or the v20 since the price has dropped. opinions?
Dem icons tho! nice! my thoughts pretty much emulated yours in my review on the G6.

New to the LG phones. Why does my new G6 not have a notification light? Or how do I turn it on?
Is there an update to get rid of the black bars in the 18 by 9 side view?...SBN RESONATE
thanks for the review. I'm surprised at how people are less and less bias.
Hey bro think of it this way you'll definitely get a screen protector right ? ( I mean who doesn't if they want the screen to last regardless what glass it is made of ) Lastly some people don't get a cover for their phone so i think LG did it for this reason

Bought the 64gb Platinum colour today on Ebay for €480 , absolute steal for that price
Dario Bastianiello new?
Aaron Woodyear
Yep
Dario Bastianiello for real? I've been wanting this phone since it came out but I can't afford the €550-600 my country asks for it. How do you like it?
still worth buying?
Aaron Woodyear
Got the Korean version with 64gb and quad dac on Ebay
I think you're expecting too much from a phone with a quad HD display in regards to battery life. 4 hrs is pretty great if you're a heavy user.
Have this phone right now and absolutely love it except for the battery. If I didn't have this, I would get the HTC U11
has anyone else gotten a charging error message saying "detecting moisture"?
how is Snapchat on the g6?
I had to return my LG G6 because the security patch bricked my phone.
I really want to buy a smartphone but I'm very confused whether to go for Lg G6 or Htc U11 or Samsung S8. But I really like the Lg G6 more. ANY SUGGESTIONS???
did you try the G5? its very similar and I haven't had any issues
Tyler. Did you say this phone is on the thicker side?! Why do people try to push for thinner phones? Thinner phones feel terribly brittle and are uncomfortable to hold. Also this screen is better than the s8 in terms of design. I couldn't stand the s8 cause it had the curved edges so my fingers that wrapped around the back of it when i held it would always end up touching the curved part of the sceeen causing me to type inaccurately.
check jerryrigseverything, it's glass 4
I had a G4 but it got bootloop 2 days ago. I wanted the v30 but I needed to get a replacement phone asap for work and so I picked up the g6 today. Low energy review, its a great phone, life is good
LGs best phone, Camera and esp wideangle is phenomenol...Battery life for 3300mAh expected screen on is 4 hrs+/- I do alot of reasearch before buying this came to the top even after S8 and onePlus5 release.

my LG V20 got image retention issue after using about 1 month and a half.
I'm on at&t, but I do all models support their bands, and btw.
What icon pack at 1:58?!
What's with Android updates for G6? Are the updates regular?
is that a ATH M50X in one of the snaps?...btw great rivew man..... watching it on my g6.... cheers
I want to get this but the Pixel 2 and One Plus 5 is on its way and I know one wont let me down.
Another awesome video .. what brick breaker game did you play in the video please?
+Dutch Noh thx it's ballz
Kevin The Tech Ninja thanks for such a fast reply that's awesome!
Are you still rockin the S8? Hopefully your final review on it like this G6 review!
hey what monitor is that? that acer monitor what model.
Watching on my (black) g6, recieved today. Videos just don't show you how good the device looks in person!
HTC U11. Best phone available right now. Unless wireless charging is a deal breaker for you, then the choice is a no-brainer.
Nice review. What's the name of that game in the video?
Just need a link to whatever song is playing
Hi people. does it overheat? I'm using g6 for almost a month. I generally like it but it overheats a lot n am afraid of it
Bootloop issue is always at the back of my mind as well. Phone looks good but quality control at LG needs to improve its game. They have come this far and improved so much with the optics over the years to give Samsung a real challenge. G6 better prove us all wrong in the longer run. Nice review Kevin 👍🤣

Great review! I fancy this over the S8. I love LG phones, and this looks like their best yet. Thanks for the cons too. I hope software updates can sort out the cameras. Cheers Kevin!
Hey Kevin!are you going to get the LG v30?

ice platinum or black??
Tozé Pinto Platinum. It looks nice in my clear case!
Why the review is so biased?. You complement the g6 but there is always a "BUTT" to counter that.
why do people go on about app drawers? I find them a pain in the rear end to me you have to press more buttons to get to where you need to go and if you want more organisation put it in a folder! I say this using a s7 edge edge and i wish I could get rid of my app drawer lol
anyone knows the icon pack seen in 2:50?
how did u get the quad deck that was only released across sea's right
+Jiheem Vohor this is unlocked version. Not carrier branded.
Kevin The Tech Ninja okay cool that's what's up didn't really care too much for the gimmick that is wireless charging when it only take a second to put in the real charge and it's faster. the quad deck was just much more useful. Thanks for getting back to me

Is it worth upgrading from a OnePlus 3? I waiting for a note 8.
Calmly Focused If you're waiting for Note 8, you might want to wait for V30 too.
Waiting on the Pixel 2
can i connect a 850 evo ssd via USB C?
1:03 Volume buttons "on the right hand side"? Well, I'm left-handed and they're on my "left hand side". It's like saying you want a beer mug with a right handle.
witch should I buy?oneplus 5 or lg g 6?
Jubaer Islam I'm in the same damn situation
what is the background music?
Gorilla Glass 5 is not scratch resistant. GG4 still the best.
Kevin Awesome Review I have TBH I have never Been a fan of LG and all know I think they did a pretty good Job but LG used to be known for their Battery. I like your Honest opinion on the Phone. Thanks so much for sharing Appreciate Deb 👍
1:01 my volume buttons are on the left.
Kevin you really look like Rampage Jackson.
Thinking about trading a iPhone 7 plus for this phone, thoughts??
Jeff Embry Don't
Waiting for the V30 so this drops in price and I can see what it's like
I feel bad for LG as I had the G2, G3, G4.
Thank U, great review & informative. Can't wait for V30 though, V series is more flagship grade.
I've got the s8 coming from oneplus 3t and previously s7 edge . I am so bored of the curved display . shouldn't have bothered
Are you an independent reviewer? Do you pay with your own money for phones that you review?
Hey man. Whats the name of the game? 5:18 in.
jello-ing effect like the iphone4 had and the samsung E600 in 2001

Great video ✌🏻. Subscribed.
what's theme you used on this video?
Chose this phone over the s8. Had both and chose this. the user experience on the device is great, battery life is great and dont regret the choice. Samsung needs to be the next of the list to build the pixel, then that is when greatness will be achieved.
