    It’s comforting to hear another stylist have days where everything goes wrong. When I get those days I just really beat myself up about it and think I’m not good at anything and that I should just stop doing hair. It’s hard to please everyone all the time, plus all the stress that comes along with this work. I feel absolutely burnt out.

      After 38 years in the biz…done!!! I now live off if a lot less and am THRILLED to not be dealing with most people’s disrespect for the service industry, their hair, and DRAMA. I bent-over backwards for all these years. Yes, I made the most out of what was usually a very hard day; learned a lot, had some fun here and there-BUT! I do not miss dealing with people and their hair woes😔😔😔😔

    As a hairstylist myself, who took a break for about a year and half because I was burnout and tired of people not respecting my profession. I even when back to college ( I been doing hair for more then 10 years) but I starting again and trying to build my own business which is going to be hard but I really loved doing hair. Unfortunately, we will encounter this type of people from time to time but I remember the I have more people who love my work and are really nice. Don’t get discouraged, God bless you and all those hairstylist who are working hard every day making beautiful hair. 🙏🏼💕

    Unfortunately, the big mistake was from the receptionist to book that appointment without a card. Once that’s done, and there is a no show, there is no way that new client without any history at that location is going to pay that fee. I would have been super shocked if you said the client paid the fee after the no show. Im sure that in her selfish mind, she didn’t receive that service so why pay for it. Like you said, telling the receptionist not to book you without a card is the best solution, cause once the mistake is done is done. There are shady people everywhere which is why employees need to be on their A game and really enforced the policies that are in place to protect the stylist 🤷🏻‍♀️

    This has happened to my husband & I a few times. We do professional cleaning which takes hours and is hard, physical work. Ppl just cancel for no reason and expect us to reschedule the next day or later in the day when we are booked up for a full month and they have just wasted our precious time and money. This is how ppl make a living & pay their bills. If you can’t change your schedule for a few hours, 1 day out of the month to accommodate other ppl, don’t call us. Do the work yourself! Unbelievable!

    It was the same for me with nails! I definitely have told people "if we don't get this form then we'll have to cancel". I'm no longer working in the industry because people are really insane.

    Those clients that always see too much warmth are the WORST! And they always seem to show up on the days where we've also been no-showed. When it rains it pours! 😢

    Ugh. I totally get it as a stylist. Like why go to the trouble to schedule, to just no show?! So rude, and inconsiderate. And when you said the one client has went to other stylists in you salon, I knew she probably was gonna be more particular. It’s crazy how we can read clients before a service. It’s a tough industry!

    Those are the reasons I don't do hair anymore. Let me vent! We are artists!!!!! We are unique!!!! Not everyone can do this!!!! We start educating ourselves from childhood!!!! We go to school to pass a test... so why do we have to wash the doors and do the housecleaning. And we buy our equipment to make our living, not so you can pay for a haircut and blow-dry your own hail w/ our equipment!!! Thank you.

    I appreciate you venting. I am a cosmetic Nurse Injector and can completely relate with the No-show situation and people having different expectations regardless of how clear you think you were. Some people are strange and others need serious therapy but luckily most people are amazing and balance those horrible days. Still, you are allowed to feel crapy. I sometimes forget I am only a human and cannot make 100% of people happy but, it is worth it for me at least due to the phenomenal people I can call my clients.

    Omg that client was ridiculous and rude, what a waste of time she didn’t forget!!! Sorry that happened, so glad she was black listed, she earned it lol. Some people you just cannot please, I’ve noticed a couple times in the past it wasn’t quit what I wanted but didn’t say anything just rolled with it until next appointment and tried to explain better. I realized she gave me exactly what I asked for that it was probably how I described what I wanted as far as color or tone.I started showing pictures it helped so much more 😊

    Oh wow! 🤩 I can't believe that your top hair is only air dried! It looks amazing! I definitely need to look into getting this treatment, but I would totally get it all over! I have dark brown/black hair like you but have been covering my random grays with permanent box hair dye (😶‍🌫which I know is really bad) and it is so much work/maintenance . . . I wish I were blonde like your client so I could do a bunch of highlights and make those grays blend in more! Wishful thinking. OMG! I died 20:27 No way!     Keratin treatments are the best. I do them on myself. I know you’re a beauty pro, but from my experience it’s best to blow dry your hair post wash to reactivate the keratin and avoid harsh creases. It will give you a much more smooth and shiny look to your hair.

      Yeap. I actually feel like the fault is more on the receptionist than anyone else, cause those policies are in place for a reason. Once the mistake is done, that’s it, it’s done. Very few would be considered enough to pay a fee like that without receiving the service. It’s unfortunate but not unexpected.

    It’s so weird to me why ppl do stuff like this when they know they have no intention of going to their appt. She could have said “oh sorry I’m gonna go ahead and cancel that appt” or whatever. Not just say yeh I’m coming and then never do

    I’m driving to work about 30 min and I’m at the salon 6-7 hours and I’m driving back with $40-60 sometimes and it’s really sad. Sometimes I just want to quit.

    I’m gonna say something that isn’t popular. The last client will not return. Red flag one is that she wants color that last forever but wants platinum highlights against her dark roots. Red Flag two is she saw you instead of her usual stylist. She’s a chair jumper. Red Flag 3 is she showed up late. You did your best chica. That’s all you can do.

    Hey Sam, I've commented on your videos a few times, and it's sad to see you down in the dumps. I feel like I can empathise on both sides, even though I don't do hair.
    When I was a teacher, I learnt that you just cannot please everybody. For me, that's really hard and something I definitely still have trouble with, despite constantly repeating it over and over. You ultimately want to make everyone happy and make someone's day, but some people behave in ways that are just totally beyond your control- they might be having a bad day, going through a rough time, or more in your example, are just a naturally picky person. I hope you know that that's them, and even though you acknowledged you saw some warmth in her hair, she sounds as though she is very difficult to please anyway.
    Now I am in a career that involves a lot of appointment booking. I've had people cancel last minute and no-show us for various reasons, some of the examples including: forgetting, sudden emergency which you can't really dispute (like a medical appointment, having covid), and even on one occasion, not wanting to wait the whole day for the appointment (even though she called us late in the day the day before and that was the only time slot we could offer her for the next day, as we were already booked up). I think the reason we struggle with people like this is because we wouldn't do it ourselves- we would call well ahead of time/as soon as we knew, and reschedule it. Unfortunately people have used so many reasons to cancel appointments, that the moment they say 'I'll be in touch to reschedule' after I've asked if they like to, I know that 9/10 I won't hear from them ever again. The whole booking of the appointment feels like a waste of time, and the amount of people who are unbothered with how last minute their cancellation is is mind boggling.
    Sorry for the longer comment, I could rant for days about how frustrating it is!

    I’m sorry that has happened to you , here’s an idea, how about not promise any clients a spot reserved unless they have their card ready right then and there that way it’s more like first come first serve ? That way your time and money isn’t being wasted and you know the client is serious about wanting their hair or services done. 😊

    I couldn't live with myself if I did shitty things like that. I actually like for the hairstylist to take control and do what's best for my hair. Of course I give the stylist an idea of what i am looking for but i feel more comfortable if I know the hairdresser and they know what will look the best on myself.

    I worked as a receptionist in a hair salon before and this last minute cancellation and no show always gives me anxiety and I always felt bad when this happens to the stylists. Bitches be so inconsiderate and indecisive and affects other people it’s so frustrating.

    You should put these peoples @... the audacity to do that and then say " no thank you" warrants exposing her so other stylists dont suffer this.
    I make stuff. Woman ordered something custom- tried to schedule a pick up when it was ready and she wouldnt commit to a time then got mad because I came home after a 12 hour overnight shift at the hospital and went to sleep. Like I was supposed to stay awake all awaiting her call. She refused to pick up now and wants a refund ( even though it was done under her budget and well before the promised timeline... shes too busy to come get it)

    2. My stylist charges $100 deposit on every appointment and you do not get it back or towards any service if you no call no show
    3. 72 hour notice and you get the deposit credited towards your next appointment/ service
    And I’ve never had any issue with it. Considering my service cost $450 😂❤

    What is so wrong with people just simply saying "I no longer want/need the appointment" "I won't be coming in" etc etc etc. When you called her she could have literally just said ANY OF THOSE THINGS just let you know she isn't coming, cause I guarantee she already knew she wouldn't be coming in when she spoke to you the first time. It makes no sense...like wtf is wrong with people? Why is it so hard to just speak the truth..

      @@Ashleyiza I don’t disagree that’s it’s a hard job that can be very frustrating. Like any other job that is client-facing. Doesn’t mean all job frustrations need to be aired online though; it’s just not a good look. As for “client shouldn’t care”… That’s obviously completely subjective.

      I get that some clients might see that as offensive but as a hairstylist, I’ve learned that no matter how wonderful of a job you do, or “re-do”, some people will never be satisfied because they expect perfection. They might just not like themselves , have some ideal in their head that isn’t real or just don’t want to pay for the service. It’s the dark side of the industry. 18 years doing this and I always downplay results prior instead of guaranteeing perfect results because of those types of clients. ❤

      @@brittanycamille6460 I don’t disagree at all! My point is that confidentiality and respect are owed to all clients, not just the “nice” ones. Being hard to satisfy while might be annoying for the stylist, isn’t a crime 😉

    Be careful about the wallflowers. They are bad for you and your dog. I would recommend soy or bees, wax melts or candles. Also, you may have a hard time getting up in the morning if you have ADHD.

      I really don't! Keep in mind, I'm only going to make specific videos about the bad moments, because those stand out. But look at all of the other hair I post every single week. You don't know anything about each individual client, because there's no story to share, so I just share the finished product of their hair. For every unhappy client, there's 50+ amazing, happy clients. :)

    I think you need to lighten up a little bit about the no show thing. It’s just a hair appointment and people live extremely complex lives, like ok be frustrated but calling her a bitch is a little far

      It’s extremely unprofessional no matter how much of a nightmare that woman was . I wouldn’t go to Sam knowing she’s posting stories about all her clients .
