    Windows xp media center was my main operating system from like 2005 until 2010. I bought a new Dell computer just to gain access to the Windows media center software. I love the default theme. Over all it just works, was far more stable then Windows xp (no service pack)

      I loved Windows XP Media Center Edition! I even bought a compatible TV tuner card to be able to use it with. I had a custom build PC.

    Introducing Microsoft Window 12 Starter Edition. Now limited to one window. Also check out the all new Microsoft Widow where you can’t have child windows.

    Why would they limit the system specifications? Because wouldn’t most computers even in the developed world have wildly different system settings?

    • @Nostalgic9080
      @Nostalgic9080  Месяц назад +10

      I think its because they only shipped this to specific OEM's and told them what to run it with

    • @SalivatingSteve
      @SalivatingSteve Месяц назад +2

      They limited the system resources because starter edition had a cheaper licensing cost. If you wanted all the features, you’d have to buy the more expensive standard XP home edition.

      @PearComputingDevices Месяц назад +1

      They limited it for profit generating reasons, and it's stripped down. It's not intended for powerful computers. Heck they might even disabled multiprocessing on this version. It was targeted and priced for low end computing.

    Hi, great video
    I knew some exchange students back in the day, some had this starter with there native language - they relied on email and word for most things
    The other students who were "rich" has laptops, but they all had one thing in common, they all had the same pirated university copy of windows XP or 7 and office and other software - it was a educational keyed installation and at one stage had over 30,000 active / simultaneous sessions - but because the key was legit to that countries government education - they did not block it
    At the same time, i had 2 children in school, and they bought home in voucher for the school version / educational discount - i did purchase 2 copies of the educational version - i think it cost me the equivalent of 1 hours salary for each license - only ever install one version for my son as the older PC was not up to spec - it is still in the cupboard all these years later with the 2003 office that was given to me but keys printed on the jacket dont work

    I don't geek out much anymore but XP Starter Edition would drive me nuts LOL.
    I have a Lenovo M92 from 2012 with a 3rd Gen Core i5 that's running XP Professional X64 that I got from the Internet Archive. It's a slipstream build with pretty much every update and service pack built in. 900MB so I burned it to DVD. I found all the drivers and software for printer, scanner and video. None of my WiFi dongles were supported so I bought a WiFi card from Amazon that's new, but very old tech. It has drivers for XP to Windows 10 on a CD. Imagine getting a CD driver disc, eh?
    With an early SSD, 24GB of RAM and Superium, it's something I can play with or actually get things done with it. But I have a PC for all the software I like, and well, XP shouldn't really be on the Internet so it's just a toy.
    I'm not a gamer but I installed Wheel of Time (1999) just to see if it would.

      But funnily enough, Windows XP Starter Edition is much more akin to Windows 7 Home Basic, which was also exclusive to developing markets, than Windows 7 Starter Edition. Windows 7 Starter was for netbooks.
