This battle report really shows off the staying power of OBR, especially when the other army lacks mortal wound output. I really love all your reports, with all your explanations it is easy to follow. And you also never get salty on bad rolls and cheer to good rolls for your opponent. This is a thing that everybody should try to do. One other thing to mention is that you always get most of the rules right. I know this can be very difficult when you play a lot of different armies. This is really high quality content. Now as the new OBR FAQ is out i would love to see a rematch (Petrifex is now -1 to wound in meele and harverster only triggers at the end of combat phase). Wow. That Harvester endured so much thrown at it. They just sit there and laugh at everything you throw at them. Might even be harder to get rid of than a squad of Mega Gargants. Good match. Glad that OBR is still as tough as ever.
Isn't the koatl's claw sub faction ability +1 to wound when you charge? The carnosaur should have gotten a bit more damage through but I can't really read the dice as well on my phone. Judging from a few battle reports with saurus warriors I think clubs are the only way to go. Too many armies have -1 to hit abilities, making 4+ to hit painful in most matchups.
-1 damage is extremely strong, depending on your opponent. I think petrifex got shifted from a -1 dam to -1 to wound in the newest FAQs, which I think will be less oppressive, but also more useful against all the 1 damage plebs out there . Great bat rep!

They are my favorite faction :) Very elite force with tons of abilities, really gives the commanding player options for multiple situations. I feels that they are much like Lumineth in that aspect, but more geared toward glorious melee combat! Thanks for watching :)
Problem with playing coalesced before the new models coming out is that Aggradons are some of the best damage output. Saurus in 20s are an anvil and won’t kill much. Missed the +1 to wound on the charge which may have helped. Plus OBR now losing the -1 damage on top of wards would make for a very different game.

Battle Reports pair nicely with a good cup of coffee! Gargants should be up the the rotation soon they haven't been on the channel in a few weeks. Gargants would have to play very aggressively against the Kroak list that is running around, Break the screens and then delete kroak.
OBR have very quickly become the heel of the channel in my eyes. 😳 This game looked like it was just dreadful for both of you. Friggin' no damage going through. BOTH armies running subfactions that reduce damage. Seraphon just not hitting as hard as they need to. It sort of seemed like both of you were done with it in Round 3. The healing and resurrecting OBR have, combined with their combat prowess... sheesh. What a nightmare of an army. Hard to outmuscle, hard to avoid, hard to bunker up against... I need to figure out how to play against that army. 😕
yes, seraphon book is painful bad with 0 dmg and lot of useless rules. but i thought kroak being op would be enough to make his lists good enough to have a long game even against top armys. seems i was wrong and even kroak cant do anything versus absurded last 4-5 tomes
Michael was for sure done with it round 3 lol. The list he brought could not punch anything though. After the OBR faq this might be a better match up. Michael also was playing the subfaction incorrectly. He for some reason read it as plus 1 to bites but its plus 1 to wounds.
Loved the match! I feel like Coalesced now must play to their strengths, whereas before, the warscrolls were so strong you could throw anything together and make it work! I’d try multiple units of 10 warriors each backed by an Arc Bastiladon when you get a chance! I think it could be decent! Also- honeycombing the Saurus and giving them clubs for that 3+ to hit could really, really be solid too! I wouldn’t run spears until this GHB removes the galley vets battalion, and even then! Keep up the great work, I can’t wait to see you try Coalesced again with the new units, though I myself am not sold on Aggradon’s just yet… but I want to be!
Coalesced will be tried again. I am brainstorming different ways to run them that dont include just adding kroak. I like the idea of arc bastiladons. Im also interested in trying a reinforced squad of kroxigor the new models are really really cool but hitting on 4's with a combat unit is rough

Lovely chanel, I would watch a new battle rep every day if you did so :D Ossiarch are clearly unbalanced atm ; move/ rend/ dmg/ save, you can,'t have them all ! ^^ At the other end, Seraphon are disappointing I have to say. Let's hope those new models are better in-game then they look. On the other hand, the Kroak+trog bomb is also really unbalanced giving you easy wins or easy lose depending on the match up. Ossiarch also have the +2 magic resist on the army... ahah, what a nightmarre ! Keep going guys !

We will for sure be playing another game of OBR with the updated PE rules. OBR is David's favorite faction, you can depend on them coming back to the channel. I think the double barreled nature of the nerfs was alot to swallow at once. -1 to wound is still really strong. But i think the harvester nerfs were much more painful. I am not sure how often you will see one anymore.
This was a lot of fun to watch! Thanks for the good batreps. One thing I want to say is if you want to go full stompy dinos, drop the slann and take two skink starpriests with two bastilidons at least. Major mortal wound potential and very tanky.
@@BattleshockWargaming The Ark itself is definitely worth the attacks, since the new bastilidon doesn't have a damage table it will always have 20 attacks that do mortal wounds on 6s. Add the Serpent Staff buff, and it now does mortal wounds on 6s on to wound in addition to any damage it inflicts. For 200 points, plus 130 for starpriest, I feel it's pretty good. I used it once against a Mangler and did 13 wounds. Edit: That's also not to mention it has 2+ save with 12 wounds. It moves 5" but it's a tanky dino.
lol well I guess this is a good piece of evidence to why the change to petrifax in yesterdays faq was warranted. Also Katakros... yeah he could probably use a sizeable price hike and some restrictions on his command ability. Hes just so much value at what he is.
Really curious on the Stalkers first charge attack. Seemed like there wasn't an aspect applied? And dread falchions have a base damage of 2. Assuming Precision Aspect that would have been 20 from the swords and 6 from the falchions. Right? It seemed extremely sad that a double unit of Stalkers couldn't chew through 10 saurus.
In the new tome, the stalkers have 4 atk per, and the dreads have 3, so 16 attacks and 6 attacks. It is entirely possible that I forgot to apply an aspect lol. Regardless, the OBR absolutely swept the battlefield this game! Thanks for watching and commenting :)

Fun game to watch, I’m loving all the seraphon bat reps coming out with the new tome. The carnosaur jaws still hitting on 4+ is a travesty! If you want to give a carno another shot and you weren’t a fan of vengeful defender, I’d say try out prime warbeast and swap sotek’s gaze for a blade of realities to give the model some more punch. Carnos are still so swingy tho with the big damage jaws being so inaccurate, which is sad. I’m still tinkering with Coalseced tho, I’m excited to get some aggrodons on the table in the next few months. Good luck with the dinos and keep up the awesome content!

Coalessed is underpowered big time. The monstrous rampages are bad, bites are bad, monsters are underpowered. Bonereapers on the other hand are wayyyy too strong now. Katakros is unstoppable. He is the strongest unit in the game and is super broken. Kept as-is he should be 800 points. He's ridiculous.
Katakros has been a real thorn in my side for a couple games now. Im not sure that I have ever killed him in the many games I have played against David's OBR.

They took a book that was struggling because it wasn't built for 3rd edition and instead of just bringing it in line with the edition they just catapult it way past the line and into top bracket.
I've gotta say that I am disappointed with the Coalesced subfaction. It still has the same problem I have had with Seraphon forever, for a list with giant dinosaurs they never seem to be the focus and are actually pretty weak. I just want giant dinosaurs to crush things. That's all I want. The saurus warriors are still fairly disappointing too. I was hoping for a little more balance between the subfactions, but Starborne is leaps and bounds better than Coalesced. It's a shame. The carnosaur is the biggest disappointment. I was hoping they would actually make it strong as it is such a cool model, but it still seems way too swingy to me. Too many units have good save now and the low rend of the carnosaur really hurts him.
Were the stalkers within 24 of Katakros’ command, cause I think both of those happen in the hero phase. If so would the stalkers have been able to receive both?
This is an interesting interaction. I reviewed the FAQ and the warscoll and below is what i think. The rule reads, "You can use this command ability in your hero phase if this unit is more than 3" from all enemy units. This unit must receive the command. Until your next hero phase, add 1 to hit rolls for attacks made by friendly OSSIARCH BONEREAPERS units wholly within 24" of this unit and add 1 to save rolls for attacks that target friendly OSSIARCH BONEREAPERS units wholly within 24" of this unit." Katakros is the one receiving the command the stalkers dont receive it thus leaving them available for further commands. FAQ Core rules 6.1 speaks to all units receiving a command. Slightly different scenario.
@@BattleshockWargaming So then if Katakros used his ability in the hero phase to give a mortek guard unit a +1 to save taking it to a 3. If that unit used shield wall would that +1 save be negated? Or would it stack?

Good battle report. Just a smaller reminder that your bludgeons have to be announced at the beginning of combat. Also that was just some terrible rolling for the Seraphon player unfortunately.
Listening to the OBR turn is just boring because you know they just get what ever they want. Unlimited command points, unlimited command abilities, +1 to hit and wound and save and charge and run and charge and warscroll abilities and 5+ ward and healing and 2+/3+ attacks and -3 rend and on and on. It doesn't stop.

I was just saying that listening to an OBR turn is boring because they just get every single ability under the sun. Some of the FAQ/Errata changes will help bring it down in power. But man is it broken right now. Right now I'm Kruleboyz and IDK.
As often happened in the past for other Codex, here too GW was not able to do its job decently. Another completely unbalanced Battletome where the CoAlesced sub-faction is pure garbage. You'll only see Starbone lists that focus on Kroak+Slann mono magic until they re-nerfe Kroak or Slann up their points. Bad job by GW and better for me so I avoid buying the new models! 👍🏻😂 Anyhow compliments for another amazing BatRep!!!!
Agree that the tome is pigeon holed into 1 clear build that is multiple times better than the others. Hopefully, the initial faq for Seraphon will do it justice. SOLIDARITY FOR COALESCED PLAYERS!!
Minus one damage with all the other buffs that OBR can be very difficult to overcome. Comment again after you finish the video let us know what you thought!
At least this list is lacking the punch, I thought that the hammer was going to be the carnasour but he just got stuck in the fight against the harvester.
@@BattleshockWargaming every dinosaur got deleted on new book, they kept most of stats with no change, but lost the extrabite and the 20 stakeable buffs. per example a carno on old book was the same but with -1 rend less on bite. but had like +3-5 atacks on everything and costed like 70p cheaper, and still was bad and never used. seems like gw forgot they renoved every stackeable buff on new book. and it was the thing that made old scrolls playables. without those buff every scroll do waay too low dmg and is overcosted
I think OBR would be fine ever for a newer player. They have a fairly complicated command phase but it is mostly the same, once you write down a cheat sheet you would get the hang of it.

@@BattleshockWargaming also getting to side objectives is just plain hard. I watched most of ko vs obr(my ko vs fyreslayer was quick) and obr never got to side objectives. Ko got tabled but won with good margin anyway.
@@PaddyT31only get the 2 monsterous actions in thunder lizard. He was koatl's claw. He should have gotten +1 to wound on the charge for anything with the saurus or krox keyword but missed it.
We were giving the +1 save to the warriors the problem is they were fighting things with really high rend. Most of the Bonereaper army was swinging in with rend 3
doesnt really help much against an army with heal/resurrect, high save, ward saves, extra movement, extra rend, reduces enemy damage, reduces enemy hit rolls ... did i get everything?

OBR is tough as nails. Harvester took the whole seraphon army on single handedly and just did not care.

You are right on the sub faction , IDK how Michael got is wires crossed to badly on that one. We will for sure get that right in the future.

You need to relocate wounds from heroes to immortis huards when you are within 3'. Its not a choice

I havent gotten a chance to run the bastilidon yet. Do you find they have the damage output to be worth their points?

They took a book that was struggling because it wasn't built for 3rd edition and instead of just bringing it in line with the edition they just catapult it way past the line and into top bracket.

I've gotta say that I am disappointed with the Coalesced subfaction. It still has the same problem I have had with Seraphon forever, for a list with giant dinosaurs they never seem to be the focus and are actually pretty weak. I just want giant dinosaurs to crush things. That's all I want. The saurus warriors are still fairly disappointing too. I was hoping for a little more balance between the subfactions, but Starborne is leaps and bounds better than Coalesced. It's a shame. The carnosaur is the biggest disappointment. I was hoping they would actually make it strong as it is such a cool model, but it still seems way too swingy to me. Too many units have good save now and the low rend of the carnosaur really hurts him.
I envy that you have that piece of OBR terrain :( so hard to find
David has been a big OBR fan for a long time, This piece of terrain has been around the block a time or two.
Were the stalkers within 24 of Katakros’ command, cause I think both of those happen in the hero phase. If so would the stalkers have been able to receive both?
katakros issues the command for the bubble to himself, so other units can still receive commands in the same phase

This is an interesting interaction. I reviewed the FAQ and the warscoll and below is what i think.
The rule reads,
"You can use this command ability in your hero phase if this unit is more than 3" from all enemy units. This unit must receive the command. Until your next hero phase, add 1 to hit rolls for attacks made by friendly OSSIARCH BONEREAPERS units wholly within 24" of this unit and add 1 to save rolls for attacks that target friendly OSSIARCH BONEREAPERS units wholly within 24" of this unit."
Katakros is the one receiving the command the stalkers dont receive it thus leaving them available for further commands. FAQ Core rules 6.1 speaks to all units receiving a command. Slightly different scenario.
@@BattleshockWargaming So then if Katakros used his ability in the hero phase to give a mortek guard unit a +1 to save taking it to a 3. If that unit used shield wall would that +1 save be negated? Or would it stack?

Thank you for the comments. I def need to protect the realmshaper better. I set out this game with that in mind and then immediately left it defenseless lol. Either way we had a fun game and we are excited to feature the seraphon. I am going to make some changes and bring Kotal's claws again

Also that was just some terrible rolling for the Seraphon player unfortunately.
That is good to know, I just looked back at the relentless command and it indeed states "at the start of the combat phase". Good catch !

Listening to the OBR turn is just boring because you know they just get what ever they want. Unlimited command points, unlimited command abilities, +1 to hit and wound and save and charge and run and charge and warscroll abilities and 5+ ward and healing and 2+/3+ attacks and -3 rend and on and on. It doesn't stop.

I was just saying that listening to an OBR turn is boring because they just get every single ability under the sun. Some of the FAQ/Errata changes will help bring it down in power. But man is it broken right now.

As often happened in the past for other Codex, here too GW was not able to do its job decently.
Another completely unbalanced Battletome where the CoAlesced sub-faction is pure garbage. You'll only see Starbone lists that focus on Kroak+Slann mono magic until they re-nerfe Kroak or Slann up their points. Bad job by GW and better for me so I avoid buying the new models! 👍🏻😂

Agree that the tome is pigeon holed into 1 clear build that is multiple times better than the others. Hopefully, the initial faq for Seraphon will do it justice. SOLIDARITY FOR COALESCED PLAYERS!!
OBR gonna Take it because of -1 damage before FAQ.
Minus one damage with all the other buffs that OBR can be very difficult to overcome. Comment again after you finish the video let us know what you thought!

At least this list is lacking the punch, I thought that the hammer was going to be the carnasour but he just got stuck in the fight against the harvester.
@@BattleshockWargaming every dinosaur got deleted on new book, they kept most of stats with no change, but lost the extrabite and the 20 stakeable buffs. per example a carno on old book was the same but with -1 rend less on bite. but had like +3-5 atacks on everything and costed like 70p cheaper, and still was bad and never used.
seems like gw forgot they renoved every stackeable buff on new book. and it was the thing that made old scrolls playables. without those buff every scroll do waay too low dmg and is overcosted

I think OBR would be fine ever for a newer player. They have a fairly complicated command phase but it is mostly the same, once you write down a cheat sheet you would get the hang of it.

That is true throw away GC's is not something OBR is known for.
@@BattleshockWargaming also getting to side objectives is just plain hard. I watched most of ko vs obr(my ko vs fyreslayer was quick) and obr never got to side objectives. Ko got tabled but won with good margin anyway.
Saurus Warriors get +1 safe when they are on an objective.
each monster can also do 2 monster actions
@@PaddyT31only get the 2 monsterous actions in thunder lizard. He was koatl's claw. He should have gotten +1 to wound on the charge for anything with the saurus or krox keyword but missed it.
We were giving the +1 save to the warriors the problem is they were fighting things with really high rend. Most of the Bonereaper army was swinging in with rend 3

doesnt really help much against an army with heal/resurrect, high save, ward saves, extra movement, extra rend, reduces enemy damage, reduces enemy hit rolls ... did i get everything?
