I got this same kit as a free gift from my job last year and it was my first jetboil. As a person who grew up camping and waiting for water to boil while you're freezing your butt off in the morning, it's a shockingly impactful quality of life improvement I didn't realize I was missing out on.
If you don’t have enough paper towels to dry the cup. Just throw your pot back onto the burner and run it for like 30 seconds and dry it off like a cast iron pan. Avoid the rust
I tried instant coffee lately. I was shocked how much I liked it... The taste is not on par with real coffee, but it's really close. And it's just so simple and convenient.
I was shocked how far "real" coffee in tea bags have come. New life hack is you can get those motel/hotel coffee maker packets to do the same thing. Since I carry a 22 OZ Contigo everywhere, works perfect.
I've had mine since2007-08. It has become an indispensable part of my camping gear. I just came back from a 2 week camping trip in AZ. It was my only cooking source. Mine is the original. So no bells or whistles. Gotta have matches and no heat gauge. Gotta watch it like a hawk. When you're using a jet boil, that is all you're doing. I dare you to try do anything else without having a boil-over. 😅
@@shortbusdog I was going to say the same thing. I had issues with my igniter (since day one) & I’ve had mine for years! I moved it up a tad & instantly fixed it!
Protip from backpacking friends: the ignitor will bend easily when you stack everything inside it. You can cut out a piece of tp roll cardboard to protect it. That may be your problem lighting. I've never had any issues. I bring it along on hotel trips to make tea. It's so quick.
i havent ever used one. Miranda in the wild just did a video of one of these vs a pocket rocket style. she is a backpacker, so the weight made a difference for her depending on how long they were going for. they seem pretty nice to me.
I suggest you put the pot on the burner BEFORE opening the gas valve and using the lighter. that will help the spark hit the gas faster. Also, I cover my pot when boiling water. That also makes water boil faster.
Superb video. @11:25 Travis finding out that indeed fire burns. 😂 Hope he is doing well since his leg injury and looking forward to the both of you tearing up the trails together again.
I've had my JetBoil since about 2008 ish and love it ! The igniter on mine quit early on. Like you I always have multiple lighters, so not a big deal. Jetboil is a keeper. Tried and true. Great product ! Excellent video as well !
The auto igniters on larger/ two burner propane stoves usually work fine, but on single burner backpacking stoves they just suck. Allegedly, in my own super professional especially anecdotal opinion. As a coffee lover, I may have to check this thing out!
And after that coffee, when nature calls, you can use the optional bucket and tire as a makeshift toilet that mother earth kindly left behind for you. 😂 Kidding aside, great video Ben. 😊
I remember one of your friends checked the fire out with his fingers, ouch. Great video Ben and might buy one of those Jet Boils because I do love coffee
That's funny, sounds like my old Svea 123, probably older than you 😮. Little thing was/is a little beast. Still have it. Better half has the Optimus version. Squirt a little fuel in the depression by the burner, light that , builds a little pressure in the stove, light stove and viola, HEAT! Definitely more exciting.😊
I've been looking into the jerboil.. they have them at my local mom and pop sporting goods store and did notice there are 3 different sizes.. second are you loosing weight Ben?
I went for a stove where i could control the heat...not sure what i was thinking but in reality I just boil and burn the shit out of everything... mostly water 😂
Save fuel. Coffee brews better at about 90C. So super hot but not boiling...probably half "orange" on the jetboil meter. Maybe 3/4 orange. You're welcome. Ha!

I have the same jetboil setup and a hand grinder that is a never leave home piece of kit.

I love all of my Jetboil stoves. Goes even faster when you have the lid on, holds in the heat. Great video
Adjust the ignitor electrode gap and your ignitor will likely work again.
Yep. It can get bent down a little when you stick it all in the container. If it’s too close it won’t work
I have had a Flash for about 7yrs now and it's going great. My igniter is the same too. Only seems to work every now and then.
Bend the igniter tab a little farther away

The ignitor issue is a well known one on this and some the small MSR stoves. Not just you.
Impressive. Hard to let go of white gas tech. Your video might push me over the top!
I went with the Windburner and have been very happy with it. Just got the coffee press widget for it. Haven't used it quite yet.

He's doing great. He's been riding and everything ;)

Great video! Just received my java kit jet boil from Ben last week and it’s awesome!

Thanks Ben for that awesome content I’ve got to get myself one of those jet boils or should I say bespoke jet Boyles thanks for the contact take care
you said the "C" word! Hope it makes it thru the censors! Keep up the great vids! Thanks for the info!
I used one of them when I did my thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail.
And after that coffee, when nature calls, you can use the optional bucket and tire as a makeshift toilet that mother earth kindly left behind for you. 😂 Kidding aside, great video Ben. 😊
I got the pot thingy that you talk about and had the same issue with hot spots. I am going to try a mini cast iron this summer and see if that helps.
I just got the new Yeti French Press. I almost bought one of these but that 2 cup limit sucks.
I remember one of your friends checked the fire out with his fingers, ouch. Great video Ben and might buy one of those Jet Boils because I do love coffee
I bought the MiniMo. Hope it works just as well.
Im still mulling over buying one. Even after borrowing my buddies for a trip. Tbh just need to pony up, they're a pretty nice product

Dork i luv coffee and i luv my jetboil
I need one of those 😮
Can someone tell me, what other burner a Jetboil pot fits? I know the Jetboil pot stand fits amazingly onto the msr windburner. Facts please! 🤗
How many boils do you get out of one file canister?
I like mine. I like some coffee with my creamer in the morning. What is your way of carrying creamer?
What is the canteen you’re pouring your water from?
How long do you get out of a cannister
I bought a Firemaple, which I assume is a knock off of the jetboil, probably some IP theft, but the price was right and so far has not failed me.
I've been looking into the jerboil.. they have them at my local mom and pop sporting goods store and did notice there are 3 different sizes.. second are you loosing weight Ben?
What is the water pouch you're using?
I hate coffee and yet I'm watching this video.
0:49 can’t boil water without water… You lost me right right there I’m not sure I’m good at this
I went for a stove where i could control the heat...not sure what i was thinking but in reality I just boil and burn the shit out of everything... mostly water 😂
After reading the comments, guess I'm getting old. Does have it's advantages at certain times, .....
Dork concerned about a little wobble. …. It’s a brave new world 😂
That’s great but to be honest when I go moto camping saving vital minutes boiling my water isn’t the highest priority.
I agree it's more of a convenience thing but it's so convenient and compact that I don't see any disadvantage to carrying it over other stove options.
@@DorkintheRoad I agree I wasn’t being negative.
You had me at coffee!!😂
So, if this is your second favourite part of camping, what's your first?
To funny, ordered one this morning from Ben.
Dark in the road. I think you keep forgetting that. Do not ship to Canada if you can. Mention that be great love the work
Get back on that 790 no time for coffee!
I just got back from camping on it. You can do both at the same time!

When the neoprene gets “funky” just toss it in the washing machine.
We swear by these during fire season.
So, no more Sanka or Folgers Crystals? LOL!
I've always wanted one but don't get to camp often enough to justify the cost
Also, losing weight? Good on ya.
they're 25% off right now ;)
It's not titanium it's aluminum
Ur losing weight.. still happy?. Always good to feel good
Hey, you didn't point :(
It's just not the same as campfire coffee or tea.
I originally got this set up for backpacking a few years back and love that it goes great on adv trips as well !!
