    I have a lot of jet boil burners and not one of the igniters has ever failed. You must have bent the igniter tip which causes too big of a spark gap.

    • @MikeWilley
      @MikeWilley  Год назад +1

      Its next to impossible to bend the igniter tip but ok. Glad you've had luck but I know of several people that have had the same problem I have. Keep a lighter or fire starter with you at all times regardless would be my take away.

    • @gregorystubenazy9912
      @gregorystubenazy9912 Год назад

      @Sharp Focus not luck I never had one fail, and I don't carry any kind of Firestarter. AND yes they do bend.

    • @ek8652
      @ek8652 Год назад

      If you pack it properly by putting the folding stand centered in the burner when placing it in the canister greatly reduces the probability of the igniter getting knocked out of wack.

    • @willcuthbert5703
      @willcuthbert5703 Год назад +1

      Of course you can bend it it's a bit of wire. If it's bent down too close to the burner it won't work or if it's bent too far away from the burner it also won't work

    • @samchoate1719
      @samchoate1719 10 месяцев назад

      Mine malfunctioned after a few uses, I bent the wire back very carefully and it works like a charm now. Not a bad idea to have a lighter, especially in the wilderness!

  • @gregorystubenazy9912

    Never had an igniter go bad on any of my jetboils. First of all put the container on FIRST!!!!! GAS BUILDUP UNDER THE CONTAINER INSURES INSTANT LIGHTING! I have five or six and I've had some of them for twenty years and they ALL WORK! SOLID HIGH QUALITY IGNITER!

    • @MikeWilley

      So everyone's just making it up I guess? Whatever man. Just because something hasn't happened to you, doesn't mean its not a real problem. Jetboil the company was formed in 2001. They didn't release their first stove until 2003. Hard to believe you've been using their products for almost 10 years BEFORE they were created. Don't write off what people say simply because you don't agree.

    Coffee comes in bags (like teabags). I would use them over loose grounds. Carry a small container of milk or powdered milk.

    • @MikeWilley
      @MikeWilley  4 месяца назад

      I like the powdered Milk idea. I'm not big on cream in my coffee but most people are so thats a great suggestion. I haven't come across coffee in bags. I'll look into that. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Great video! Really enjoyed watching it and got a lot from it. I've just recently purchased both the Jetboil Flash and the plunger accessory. Really disheartening to hear that the sparker stops working after; a while. I figured for a premium brand that these would last.

    • @MikeWilley
      @MikeWilley  Год назад

      A lot of people don't have any problems with it. I had a comment that mentioned it may have to do with the way I store it. I'm not sure. In general, you'll love it. Its very effective. Its always best to carry a lighter as a backup anyway. Thanks for watching and commenting Steve.

  • @krispewkrem3

    Just a note on the jetboil ignition, the burner seems to be assembled with lots of plastic. The heat caused my wiring to lose its insulation. Pretty sure that was the cause of my failure. I caused it by trying to put a pan on my burner within a pot support.
    But still. I’ve heard of too many igniters going bad.
