The iPhone 4s was my first iPhone as well as my first SmartPhone. However, iOS 7 slowed it down too much for my liking, so I upgraded to the 5S in 2014 which served me well for almost 4 years. And now, I have an SE which I got back in May, and I really like it. Hopefully, it’ll work well for a few years.
yeah, i still value it even though its that old. And its a working phone, so i cant complain :D . but when people say that their phones dont last 2 years its pretty annoying... @Ed Dragojlovic
I had my 4S for 5 years until I got my 1st gen SE in 2016. It was an amazing phone for its time, but from iOS 8 onwards, it became really slow and apps like spotify, RUclips and google maps were really noticeable. Even the keyboard became slow and laggy by the time iOS 9 came out.
I lived with it for a year, 5 years after it came out. (I was 8 then and I thought it was the world’s best phone) Little did I know a day later would my bird die. Rip Lilly, you will be missed.
Johnnyb418 I remember buying one used in 2016 (I had an iPhone 4 before it) and thought it was excellent until 6 months later when I was given an iPhone 5s (for free) by a relative who had upgraded.
My sister used a 4S and it works, it's just that apps aren't really supported and it's slow but you can get by with using it for messaging and calling and some social media.
I found my old 4s recently and was tempted to give it a shot after downgrading it, since I’ve always loved the form factor of these little guys with their compactness and ahead-of-it’s-time glass sandwich design. BUT I was able to compare it to another 4s and it turns out my screen is discoloured and my cameras are grainy so I figured it would be too frustrating to deal wth. Luckily you made this video so I didn’t really miss out! Also: >unlocked from Telus Wanna do a video about how terrible Canadian carriers are my fellow Canuck?
Isn't it always sad when you wanted something years ago but now that you come back to it...you still want it but it has no use for you anymore because you have something "better". I should've bought this phone when it came out 😂
I miss the size of the frame, but you're right about the screen being really small. I'm actually surprised that the camera on my old phone is about as good as the one on my new one because my best friend was talking about how the iPhone 6 Plus had a much better camera than any of its predecessors when he first got one right after is came out.
@@superkods Its affordable but not worth it. For the same money you can get something like galaxy s3,htc one x or nexus 4 which are hella better than this garbage.
I still use my iPhone 4s as a daily driver phone. I can't afford an upgrade right now but would love one. Yeah it is difficult to use but it is still usable. And yes the network still works HSPA plus. And yes you can unlock it and go on T-Mobile. There is a trick that you can do to get the app to work. Look up a very old version of iTunes that has the iTunes App Store. Make sure you can still login and log into it. Look up an app on your iPhone it Hass to say this app needs iOS 10. When it says that search that exact app you searched for on your phone in iTunes and then click download once you download it from the old version of iTunes App Store and it will immediately download to your iPhone. That's a helpful trick that I found to keep your iPhone 4s running. Now the app won't update if it needs iOS 10 but you'll be able to use the app with less features because it hasn't updated in forever.
7:35 - This is why I never owned an iPhone until they came out with the 6. I *hated* the 3.5" display and refused to get an iPhone because of it. Even the 4" display was pretty pathetic.
@Magg78, fair enough. I just mainly meant compared to most Android phones at the time, the screens just couldn't compete. So, I wasn't interested...till the 6. That phone was a game changer indeed.
The 4 was my first phone. I hated the angular corners and how they dug into my palms when holding the phone, and the camera had a yellow tinge on everything. But I still loved it. I then had a 6. Then a 7+ and now an XS Max. Hopefully this one will last a good few years.
Hey buddy, I scrolled past this video and was curious how others did it. I've been living with a 4s for over 2 years now and I've figured I might as well try to adapt. I run IOS 9.3.5 and RUclips for sure is my slowest app, in fact, this comment will probably take a good few minutes to post. I can never borrow a charger from anyone which is pretty inconvenient, and when using a friends phone I struggle with even unlocking the phone, as I'm used to swiping. I make all my calls and text messages through iMessage, as I don't have a SIM card. It is on its last legs, with my home button torn off and the entire back is shattered. Just to be clear, I use the 4s not by choice, but because I'm a kid with parents who don't just go off and buy their kid a new phone everytime they need a new one. Just wanted to give a little insight on what it's like really living with it. Nice video!
Oren Sloan I run the iPhone 4s asswell it’s really no different than the iPhone X and it really makes me mad how people say I don’t speak broke with my AirPods I have a fucking iPhone 4 for crying out loud! But yes very true they are close to the same thing
I’m using my old 4s as an iPod since my current phone is only 16gb, (android, so like 4gb) to have my music downloaded on Spotify, and I must say the speakers in my opinion are brilliant for a 2011 phone, when compared to my 2015/16 phone. Also I must say with the current condition of my daily driver in terms of speed, if it wasn’t for the screen size, and optimisation, I would go back to the 4s
starst9 Although, I cant fully say since it’s not being used as a daily driver anymore, the battery in my case has been great, can get at least a couple of days battery life out of it listening to music
Hands down my favorite design! The weight made it feel like something & not like it was going to fly out of my hand like an eager wet bar of soap. The thickness, again, felt like I was holding something so I never used a case. I would take this design with the screen and bezel sizes if the iPhone 8 in a second!!! But wish in one hand and...
I'm pretty sure that hole you mentioned at 3:09 is the FaceTime microphone. I just upgraded from the 4s last week, and I did some research on the microphone setup on both the 4 and 4s before I upgraded because of a problem on my sister's iPhone 4 she used to have.
After seven years with iPhone 5 and six years with iPad mini 2, I replaced both devices last week. After a few minutes with gesture controls on the XR, I forgot why I ever needed a Home button. I dislike the Home button on my Pro 10.5, and I resent the fact that my tablet doesn't recognize my face like my phone does. You won't miss the Home button. I promise
my old iphone se was so slow and broken that the iphone 4 would probably win the speed tests, half of the apps that require internet would just never load and now the battery got so bad that it's stuck boot looping.
Let’s be real here. iPhone 4S was ahead of its time. I still have working iPhone 4S on my random stuff box and It’s still working straight from 2013. Amazing phone tbh
last year when I had a iPhone 5s it got water damaged and I had to use a 4s on iOS 9. Honestly the most slow annoying thing ever. The battery life was trash and the apps crashed all the time. I had to use it for like 6 months!! I have an iPhone 7 now tho so it’s ok😂💜😭🤦🏼♀️
Pingky Dbno yeah I’m on the 7 atm - using the 4s in 2018 was the worsttttt. I had to use it until June 2018 and I just remember apps like snapchat RUclips and Instagram constantly crashing. The only app I found okay was netflix aha x

Heather Mac and cheese why did you update, like does it update automatically
I got an IPhone 5c you can have.
You still using it now?
The iPhone 4s was my first iPhone as well as my first SmartPhone. However, iOS 7 slowed it down too much for my liking, so I upgraded to the 5S in 2014 which served me well for almost 4 years. And now, I have an SE which I got back in May, and I really like it. Hopefully, it’ll work well for a few years.
well, still using my 5s since 4.5 years... still going strong!
It sure is a very good phone!
yeah, i still value it even though its that old. And its a working phone, so i cant complain :D . but when people say that their phones dont last 2 years its pretty annoying... @Ed Dragojlovic
Still good and fully supported in 2018.

5s is a legend
I had my 4S for 5 years until I got my 1st gen SE in 2016. It was an amazing phone for its time, but from iOS 8 onwards, it became really slow and apps like spotify, RUclips and google maps were really noticeable. Even the keyboard became slow and laggy by the time iOS 9 came out.
I lived with it for a year, 5 years after it came out.
(I was 8 then and I thought it was the world’s best phone)
Little did I know a day later would my bird die. Rip Lilly, you will be missed.

MystKT dont be rude
Had this phone up until only 3 years ago.
Also:
>unlocked from Telus
Wanna do a video about how terrible Canadian carriers are my fellow Canuck?
Isn't it always sad when you wanted something years ago but now that you come back to it...you still want it but it has no use for you anymore because you have something "better".
I should've bought this phone when it came out 😂
I miss the size of the frame, but you're right about the screen being really small. I'm actually surprised that the camera on my old phone is about as good as the one on my new one because my best friend was talking about how the iPhone 6 Plus had a much better camera than any of its predecessors when he first got one right after is came out.
First world problems
Tiraflecha97 How? He’s just making a video to see how a phone is used in this time period
Literally anyone can afford this phone.... almost anyone at least
Toddle over to Haiti and say that, you ignoramus.
@@superkods Its affordable but not worth it. For the same money you can get something like galaxy s3,htc one x or nexus 4 which are hella better than this garbage.
Bullshit, there is no third world anymore. Everyone uses smartphones
Lucas Nencetti i might have to downgrade from my new se I got yesterday to my old 4s
3:09 that’s actually a microphone. On the 4 and 4S it’s next to the headphone jack and on newer models it’s next to the main camera
Last year, i had to use a 4s for 7 months.
I always use the 4s, for the alarm, flashlight, football games results...
I got an iPhone 6 in 2014 and it's still working perfectly fine 💪 As much as I want a new fancy phone I really don't need one
Heya, I got an IPhone 6 128gb and the thing is a beast. I had the battery replaced in December and now it lasts for a while.
I bought a 5s in 2015..still better than most androidsXD
@@angelaslnc1776 nah dude

Jordan Marshall Sorry can’t hear you with my air pods on
I have a 6 (I was allowed to get an 8 but I wanted a headphone jack), I used a 4s last year.
Could you do a living With an Apple Watch ( By It self LTE), and/or a Apple Watch Series 0/1/2 worth it in 2018
Idk about the first thing, as I don't have an LTE Apple Watch, but I do have Series 0 & Series 3 reviews coming soon
Ok cool! Also, your my favorite tech reviewer ❤️❤️❤️
7:35 - This is why I never owned an iPhone until they came out with the 6. I *hated* the 3.5" display and refused to get an iPhone because of it. Even the 4" display was pretty pathetic.
Same here !
Apple sheepp
@Magg78, fair enough. I just mainly meant compared to most Android phones at the time, the screens just couldn't compete. So, I wasn't interested...till the 6. That phone was a game changer indeed.
Back in 2007 phones were trying to get smaller and now as you can see they get larger and larger
I'm using the 7 and don't call me an apple sheep I only use it as I am done with the new iPhones
Nice video!
Oren Sloan my RUclips takes less than one second on the 4s and it is not buggy.
Oren Sloan I run the iPhone 4s asswell it’s really no different than the iPhone X and it really makes me mad how people say I don’t speak broke with my AirPods I have a fucking iPhone 4 for crying out loud! But yes very true they are close to the same thing
Dude I feel ya🖐️
Want me to blackmail ur parents into buying u a cool phone?
dude buy a sim card its like 5€
I’m using my old 4s as an iPod since my current phone is only 16gb, (android, so like 4gb) to have my music downloaded on Spotify, and I must say the speakers in my opinion are brilliant for a 2011 phone, when compared to my 2015/16 phone.
Also I must say with the current condition of my daily driver in terms of speed, if it wasn’t for the screen size, and optimisation, I would go back to the 4s
How about the battery performance?
starst9 Although, I cant fully say since it’s not being used as a daily driver anymore, the battery in my case has been great, can get at least a couple of days battery life out of it listening to music
@@kierantapper That's awesome. I'm also using a 2015 samsung phone and considering getting an ipod/iphone as a music player. Thank you for answering.
I habe an android and I use my google music account with and sd card
Hands down my favorite design!
The weight made it feel like something & not like it was going to fly out of my hand like an eager wet bar of soap. The thickness, again, felt like I was holding something so I never used a case. I would take this design with the screen and bezel sizes if the iPhone 8 in a second!!! But wish in one hand and...
Great phone. Always preferred the squared edges over than the rounded ones. About time Apple changes that.
I'm pretty sure that hole you mentioned at 3:09 is the FaceTime microphone. I just upgraded from the 4s last week, and I did some research on the microphone setup on both the 4 and 4s before I upgraded because of a problem on my sister's iPhone 4 she used to have.
The last android I've used was the LG Optimus L9
After I got my 4S in 2013 I've never had an android since
i used 2 iphone 4's in the past, i lost them, and now im going to look for them, and the charger rn. bye
I have what you're looking for...!!!
The iPhone 4S was one of the first phones with true HD resolution and it was obvious that Netflix worked
That little hole on the top of the phone is a microphone
No it’s a headphone jack I would know
32 bit link No he’s talking about some other hole on the top not the headphone jack
The Flip I noticed that, but than I already had written the comment
@@WolfiiDog13 No you didn't.
He’s talking about the headphone jack and it’s sarcasm because newer iPhones don’t have them
I am never going higher than iphone 8. I love the home button, and im sad to see it go
BashTheRUclipsr & Gaming! Use a x for a week and you’ll love it it has such a nice display
Yep it’s cool give it a week
Got used to it an a hour.
I promise
well the iphone 8 is really really fast. no need to go higher in terms of performance.
my old iphone se was so slow and broken that the iphone 4 would probably win the speed tests, half of the apps that require internet would just never load and now the battery got so bad that it's stuck boot looping.
You should live with the original iphone or the 3gs
Lol
Lol a week some of us( like me) have had to deal with this for YEARS
I have been with the 2017 Nokia 3310 for the past 4 months, it's really not that bad.

I remember playing temple run on my grandmas iPhone 4s back then :)
The 4s was my first smart phone, so it will always have a special place in my heart.
last year when I had a iPhone 5s it got water damaged and I had to use a 4s on iOS 9. Honestly the most slow annoying thing ever. The battery life was trash and the apps crashed all the time. I had to use it for like 6 months!! I have an iPhone 7 now tho so it’s ok😂💜😭🤦🏼♀️
Jessica iphone 4s is my first iphone back in 2014 but in 2016 I upgraded into the 5s and now I use iphone 6s plus which is still very fast Im so happy
Pingky Dbno yeah I’m on the 7 atm - using the 4s in 2018 was the worsttttt. I had to use it until June 2018 and I just remember apps like snapchat RUclips and Instagram constantly crashing. The only app I found okay was netflix aha x
Still have a 4
