- The iPhone 4S impressed at launch with the new additions of Siri and the first dual core processor in an iPhone, and was kept up to date for a full 5 years. And even recently in 2019 it received an update- how does the iPhone 4S hold up?

The iPhone 4s was actually a good phone! But, not anymore and it still nostalgic!
The latest IOS Version for this Phone destroyed it and it was for me nearly unusable, so i switched to the iPhone 5s and used it to may 2019.
Dan Smith no it’s not
Dan Smith 7 plus is🤠
skankhunt 42 What do you mean?
Dan Smith 5s in Space Grey was in my oppinion the prettiest iPhone ever, it was its time ahead with the processor and
so lasted nearly 5 years and runs with the performance ios 12 update better then ever. It has the best sice for most people hands. The only worst on this device was the battery and its lifetime.
Just bought one today and downgraded to IOS 6. Very nostalgic.
Well, guess it kind of makes sense if you get one for like 10 bucks. I have not one or two but five of those (It was a job lot).
@Dan Smith Checkout ipsw.me, I was surprised to see that 6.1.3 is still signed by apple for whatever reason.
Bulls*it
Tristan Herdiartha iOS 6.1.3 is still signed... check ipsw.me
if it's a 16gb or higher dual boot iOS 5

Not anymore that phone screen is suicide way too small
Burn4Freedom420 he just said the design, not using the phone
Burn4Freedom420 better than a flip phone
Is this a compliment?
I literally just found a 4s is an old jacket like couple of days ago
Mr. Peashooteri have so many questions

Wow i found it in my underwear yesterday!

How, why, where, who?
I’ve been using my 4s as a phone for general use because I love the small form factor, oh and iOS 6 is a beauty. My main SIM is still in a XR though...
Dan Smith you can’t not compatible
@@mevstechnology4366 It is.... look up on RUclips downgrade iPhone 4s to iOS 6.... there's plenty of videos. 91Tech even made one so you could find that one too
Who is your carrier? Because Verizon, AT&T or Sprint will not let you activate 2G devices anymore.
Roger Wittekind iPhone 4s is 3G, plus you can put an already existing SIM card it. I’m on T-Mobile
@@benbranca You are good to go with t-mobile but if you had an SE you could take advantage of t-mobile's NameID.
“and apple came back to this design with the iphone x and xs”
iphone 8/8+: am i a joke to you
edit: i forgot the 8 and 8 plus are aluminum and glass. not stainless steel
Haha I was gonna reply but your edit beat me to it
David Si Sindlinger lol watching on a 8+
8+ is a joke bruh
The iPhone 4/4S and the 8/8 plus are all made from aluminum and glass and NOT stainless steel.
Mike Mo Lmao no, the 4/4S do have Stainless Steel. They even mentioned it in the keynote.
My bestie and roommate actually owned a black 4S from year of release until August of 2015. His 4S was actually his first ever smartphone. Before it he actually still used a Motorola RAZR V3, and a discman for songs. Seeing a 4S brings back memories of when he and I really started bonding which began in October 2014. I actually didn't know him in 2011 just remember he told me he got his 4S when it was still flagship
I'm using the 4S as my main phone because my friend broke my iPhone 5, I hate her for that.
Gabriel Ramos That’s why you can’t trust women.
Gabriel Ramos back to the kitchen
Looks like she aint your friend anymore
If you are using it on Verizon that won't last long because they are planning to axe 3G.
Roger Wittekind They’re doing that with 2G as well.
If any is using an iPhone 4s in 2019, you are insane. And I like that.
I’m still using iPhone 4S 2020 and it’s a bit fast and occasionally slow.
2020 and I received my unused black iP 4s today, gonna have fun
My 4s was still my main phone up until mid 2019 and the whole reason i replaced it is due to a falling battery
I bought iphone in 2013. Now, Spotify, FB, Messenger, RUclips 're still work now. What a good phone !
( Sr for my bad English )
try removing the apps and reinstall them.

iPhone 4 was way ahead from it's time and it was that iPhone which made people sheep to buy iPhone.
Major facts, I remember people sticking with iphone once they experienced the 4S. Never looked back at an android.
Buying any other flagship phones makes you a sheep as well when there’s dozens of phones people don’t buy
Michael Dunnom I switch back and fourth, but I think I’m going to stick with iPhone from now because iPhone has 5 years of support vs Samsung’s 2 years. I think it’s just a better value
It is so disappointing to see so many people agree with this reviewer.
Anyone purchasing an iPhone 4s years after its release is not expecting the same performance as it provided in 2011. Of course it is going to be slow and it is obvious that many apps won't work and modern cameras are superior. However, as a small device it is hard to beat. In 2020, it can still run Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Whatsapp and may functional older versions of popular apps (Microsoft Word, Google Docs). It runs Apple Music too, which means you can steam tonnes of music without using the device storage. It may not run the latest games but the latest phones do not always run the old games either, and some user may want to play the old games. For making calls and sending texts, this phone is perfect and it wipes the floor with many Android devices from the same period that can't even run a calculator. No one should buy this as their main device but in 2020, it runs pretty well. The guy doing the review is not putting things in the context of the phones age (not in my view). The fact it still runs so many apps and is still working is quite remarkable. No one is expecting the performance you can get from top of the line phones from the time of reading this comment. However, most smartphones from this same period are dead as Monty Python Parrot. Also, 3G is still fast enough and it still works in many parts of the world. No one should buy this phone as a cheaper iPhone alternative at the time of reading (and beyond), but if you have one and are still using it, no problems. I have dug this phone out and have used it without significant detriment in May 2020 and though it is slow, my top of the range LG phone from the same year can't even run RUclips (not even the web version). With the iPhone 4s, you can use the old app and it still works as does the web version of RUclips. This guy reviews the latest tech so he is used to the latest and greatest so his perspective is skewered.
The 4S was my first non-Blackberry smart phone. And it was wonderful. I even swapped out the black front glass for white, with a black home button. So I had a two-tone phone, and it really looked great. But trying to repair a broken screen was the worst. You had to gut the entire phone from the back to get at the screen, and hope you remembered all the steps and parts to put back into it.
It's useful for making just phone calls. I've given mine to my 88 year old step father and it's simple enough for him to use, but if he loses it, it's no big deal.
If he is on Verizon he won't even be able to make calls in December.
@@RogerWittekind We're in Australia, and there seem to be more options (cheaper, too), so it works well. Am curious, though, why not December?
@@poeterritory Everyone I have talked to that works with Verizon or the largest cellphone provider in the USA has told me they plan to drop 3G in December.
The funny thing is Verizon has never sent me a text message about that and my Verizon phone is only 3G.
@@RogerWittekind Ah, that makes sense, assuming it's true. Here, we're so far behind, I think it will be ages before we lose 3G as it's still our backup when 4G fails.
@@poeterritory Even Sprint is trying to phase out their 3G and if you notice 3G has quit working on a tablet you can have Sprint fix it.
Dude! I loved my 5s so much.
I have so many memories with that phone. 5s was the perfect phone for me. The size, the screen, the fingerprint was so fast for it's time...
I hope Apple will someday bring back this design...
I still have one of the 4S andI use it periodically just because telegram works on it. I also use it with Spark app for a Mail service. I live in Japan and I was subscribe to AUKDDI. That company now does not allow for new services of 3G. I’m trying to find a service company such as Softbank or DoCoMoSMS that will have that service available but I plan on finding a GEVEY sim unlock card for it. It’s because the date it was manufactured and sold does not allow for an unlock through that carrier. I am mainly trying to use the phone as an iPod for music, reducing the amount of applications on the device and as a secondary phone in case of an emergency
I am using one. In 2019 and just updated it to ios 9.3.6 .
I have it on ios 8. Idk
How did you update it to 9.3.6 when did it have another update just curious cause the last update was 9.3.5
We need this a updated version of this with a 5.1 display and keep the same width
I'm a simple man, I see a 91Tech video, I click.
I have had my iPhone 4S since 2012 and I haven't changed it. It still works ok. A tad slow but has saved me an absolute fortune.
It was awful after 6 years but I had a new one fitted in 2018 and that improved the performance no end. I think that cost me around 15 euros.
@I A No, definitely the right one. I went to a shop where they did it professionally.
I can't complain. I had a 4S from 2012-2018! Finally upgraded (not fully) to the 8+. The 4S served me well, even though I was living in the past. Lol.
_senpaiserpen • maybe it was his lovely phone, you didn’t think about?
_senpaiserpen • I figured since it was still functional, might as well use it til the very end!
@_senpaiserpen • I know right that's so long to use that same phone from 2011 lol but nowadays smartphones are a whole new level there so powerful that they can last for years you don't need to upgrade phones every year or 2 anymore like people use too back in 2011
@_senpaiserpen • Me too pretty much i mean its hard to keep a phone longer then 4 years since these phone companies basically give you free phones every 2 years
Burn4Freedom420 indeed u got androids that can run GameCube and ps2 games on it flawlessly
I still don’t know why I like this channel so much, maybe your voice, perhaps the music you use for your intro or the style the whole thing, but keep it that way and you will still have me here. ;)

Dude, it's not that serious. Your melodrama about this phone is a bit over the top. I still use one and have no issues whatsoever. I really like that you're using HOME for the background music.
64gb iOS6 iPhone 4s user here, mine is jailbroken and I have about 100 tweaks enabled. The device is functional in 2019, aside from some apps not being supported, though most older app versions work okay. With a battery case it's honestly fine for day-to-day use, unless you want Snapchat support which I cannot find a workaround for.

I think for me it's about unity across devices. My MacBook Pro is USB C, kind of ridiculous I need an adapter just to plug my iPhone into it

My first iPhone. Got it the day it launched. It was amazing at the time.
I felt the performance got improved after updating to iOS 9.3.6. Need to use iTunes to update it, though.

it's mostly as a personal hotspot to my 6s; and calling/receiving calls. or sometimes browsing the internet.

Just bought one 3 days ago. Sadly, iOS 9 makes it quite slow and unbearable. Tried downgrading to iOS 6, however, most apps were outdated :(
The 4s personally was the worst iphone in terms of aging
And didint really bring anything new , not to metnion it is impossible to use right now my own opinion though
I disagree in that I do think it brought new stuff. The design stayed the same but the addition of the dual-core chipset, 8mp camera and Siri were a big deal in 2011
But yea, thanks to software it’s aged horribly
Fix your grammar.
@@91Tech Galaxy S2 brought a faster dualcore cpu with double of the 4s ram and a 8mpx camera to the smartphone market months before the 4s. Siri is nothing more than a software feature, with jailbreak you can even enable it on iphone 3gs. It aged horribly due to the low ram,not just the software and I personally think that they didn't even try to optimise it. Ios 9 came out just 4 years after the 4s,imagine having a 4 year old $650+ phone which runs that bad. Fortunately bad hardware isn't the case anymore as the current 4 year old 6s runs far better on ios 13 than 4s on 9. I have used both galaxy s2 and iphone 4s recently, running latest android 9.0 on the s2(lineage os) and 9.3.5 on the 4s/note-the ios 9 youtube app works better than the ios 8 one, when you watch videos the player doesn't get stuck!/ . When you disable spotlight search, app background refresh, animations and close apps in the background ios 8 and 9 run nearly the same, with ios 9 being a bit slower,I also should note that on ios 8 you have 1gb less free storage which is deadly on the 8gb 4s model. On the 4s you can barely multitask between 2 apps(for example-fb messenger and safari). Meanwhile on the s2 I can blast youtube vanced in the background while browsing chrome and having 2-3 more apps opened(no games). I should also mention that the s2 deals with the latest versions of the apps, not just the latest compatible. The double ram is easily noticable and the latest version of android seems to keep the s2 fast enough to be used(it ran slower on touchwiz 4.1.2 lol),unlike 4s which struggles with a 2015 os.
So yeah, nowadays 4s serves no purpose, but at least it did a good job of playing the infinity blade trilogy for me.
Martin Dimitrov on 9.2 the 4s was actually faster and doesn’t have input lag when launching the apps...
@@romankaroly114 Im pretty sure ios 9.2 is the same deal as every other version of 9,I even saw one video where the guy compared the versions...
Yep: ruclips.net/video/zH7FslRYsNg/видео.html 9.2.1 here, still a bit slower than 8,but the difference is pretty minimal. For the input lag when opening apps,Im not exacly sure what do you mean by that. The phone never hanged on me when I tried to open an app in the meaning that I could still go back to the homescreen or open the taskswitcher before the app has finished loading.
What about the OnePlus X?
That also had a glass back
it was launched.... 4 years later?
Watching this video at my Iphone4s haha ! Like if u still use it till now
My first iPhone was an iPhone 4. It was 2015, I was in 9th grade and just got my iPod touch that I used for 2 years at the point, stolen at school. Had to use a damn iPod 2nd gen for a week. Then I was introduced to kijiji and found a $30 iPhone 4 with minor cracks. I bought it and it was just a huge step up from my iPod. In a way, I’m kinda glad that I lost my iPod, because I never would have started buying used iPhones and I’m happy where I am now with the 7 Plus. But that iPhone 4 sure was something special.
My friend said Apple copy Samsung with the glass back😂😂😂😂😂😂
