I used to think Cillian Murphy would be perfect to play David Byrne, but he already decided to be in another movie about life during wartime where a gifted genius unleashes an absolute bomb on the world.
He really would be the perfect actor to play David Byrne! Similarly, Pauly Shore bears an uncanny resemblance to Richard Simmons and was trying to play him in a biopic which would have been hilarious and amazing 😂
I generally hate co-ordinated dance routines, they makes me think of boy bands, girl bands and bad 1980's pop music videos. This, though, is one of the most epic things ever filmed, and is incredibly addictive. I've been drawn back to this for decades.
What makes this so captivating is the visuals coupled and upbeat funky sound then coupled with the dark lyrical content that he turned into a story. It shouldn’t go together but yet it does.
I have that feeling too from time to time. David Byrne being all dAvId, 40 years before DEI was a twinkle in any rock star's eye. It's just...well..magnificent.
@@MegaKillerwatt This Must Be The Place has been my favourite song since the first day I listened to it in 2016. I heard and saw the live a couple years after and it melted me all over again and that is now my favourite out of the two. Very small changes like the female harmonies that just adds so much to the song.
Such energy, there is nothing like this band literally gave everything and left nothing on the stage, certainly once seen, heard and felt never forgotten ❤❤❤
It just makes me so happy watching this. The dancing, everyone’s dancing, the fun nature of the song, and the fact that every musician is just brilliant. Amazing stuff.
I'd say this is supposed to be perceived with less fun and more anxiety. I think the running and movement is supposed to make you think about what groups like the ones mentioned in the song go through / feel.
Every time I hear a Talking Heads song or just come across one, my first image that comes to my mind is the over sized suit he wore live. It was always a pleasure live watching these outstanding performers. They made music an actual art not simply something to listen to. David Bryne was a musical genius. All their music still makes sense today, if you sit and just listen to it. Today's music doesn't make sense.
Add me to the lucky list of those who saw them on this tour. Red Rocks for me. We were up high ish in the crowd. Still have the visual of the band and the many thousands of us all bouncing up and down in rhythm under the night sky. Never danced so long and so hard ever. I don’t even remember being tired we were all so pumped up and joyful.
I saw them on this tour also in Berkeley at the Greek Theater. Absolutely amazing! I've seen many great concerts but I do believe this is the best one I ever experienced.
Any performance that involves little Tina Weymouth jumping up and down strapped to a 10,000 lb. bass guitar and David Byrne doing the Funky Chicken gets my vote all day long.
I had such an enormous crush on her when I was in high school. She was a terrific bass player. Not in the league of Entwhistle, Geddy Lee, or Bootsie, but she was just very good. Plus, she added a sexiness to the band that they lacked. This was a nerd band, but then here was this blonde pixie who could slap down a beat real hard. She was the band chick you wanted, who was a little weird and dangerous too. She never tried taking the spotlight from Byrne, but they always had her right out front. They knew she was a draw.
I did! On this tour, Stop Making Sense, in '81. I was too young to realize most concerts would not be full-on productions like this. Really enjoyed the re-release of the movie a few weeks ago! 💜😍💜
Man, the energy in the room, you can almost see it! Also, he doesn't sound at all out of breath with his performance, incredible, the whole group on stage. That must have been a memorable experience for those who were present!
David Byrne is so wild and crazy, in the best way possible & yup, that’s aerobic, there will never be another Talking Heads, they were so cerebral.❤❤❤❤
