I love how every single person featured here seemed to be having the time of their life. Sang and played and danced their hearts out.
something something nose candy.....
Drugs are a powerful drug.
Talking heads weren't a very druggy band actually. David and Tina weren't really into anything. Im sure some of the backing members were on stuff though.
@MajorMajor420
it's called cocaine
@@adamnewyork Davids just autistic and didnt do many drugs, tina just vibed with occasional weed from what i know
I can't believe how modern the stage lighting looks. Initially I thought this was a new biographical film.
Shot on film so there is SO much flexibility that they can pull out of that negative when scanning it digitally with today's tools.
@siegebug It's certainly what I thought. I didn't expect a Talking Heads concert doc from A24 and I wouldn't have known just from the title.
Watch the entire film. One of the best ever!
there is a video that explains that all of the stage lighting was designed by Byrne and the production team specifically to appear cinema like on camera while being still engaging for the live audience.
@@ScottSullivanTV Was looking for something like this. Almost eerie seeing a fully modern processing applied to raw footage from decades ago. A concert movie from 2004 wouldn't look anywhere near this modern.
Saw this Movie in IMAX whenever it was re-released, and that was also the first time I’ve experienced IMAX & it was worth every single penny.
Same. Looking forward to the Blu-ray release.
felt so real and the instruments felt like they were really there
My first IMAX experience was the Beatles Rooftop concert
Just saw it yesterday on cinema, I agree
I just saw it last thursday on cinema, It was one of the best experiences in cinema I have had in my life
I love how the Paramore cover of this song follows his vocal enunciations from this version instead of the studio version
The Paramore cover piqued my interest, so I watched 12 seconds of it, and now I'm here enjoying the 40year old version.
Same , I think they did it justice , it’s so good David covered there song hard times .
I haven’t seen him cover the other artists so he must really like Paramore’s version
Back a million years ago in 1989 my high school "Mass Media" instructor literally ordered me (after finding out I was a casual TH fan) to watch this film and do a report on it.
It blew my mind. I couldn't believe that I hadn't seen it, and HAVING seen it, I had to watch it over and over.
I still watch it, and it was the first concert my kid ever 'went to'.
Beautiful energy by entire band .
Watched this in cinema, people started dancing!
*Eras tour flashbacks*
Ohhh nooo 🙉
I don’t think they could have helped it tbh, you kinda have to
@@samfishertags4904 agree
Saw this in IMAX at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood and during the last two songs half the crowd was down at the very front dancing under the screen!
Saw this at The Plaza Theater in Atlanta a few months ago in a completely sold out theater. The last half hour the entire audience were on their feet dancing and singing as if David Byrne and Co were actually in attendance. One of the greatest moments of my life to be honest. Thank you Talking Heads!!!
3:11 - 3:40 This part, where David Byrne and Alex Weir are just jamming together. Matching each other's energy, being so perfectly in sync. It's one of my favorite parts of the show. They looked like they were having a blast.
It's unreal how freakin SICK this band was!!! Some of the funkiest s**t I have ever seen. What a powerhouse group of ladies and gents. This is a historical music performance. It's no surprise that Burns wrote a book called HOW MUSIC WORKS. He would know. Bless this band and bless the 80s!!! I was there!!! Best decade ever!!!
I think what makes this one of the best concert films ever made is that Demme treats the concert like it is a story with a plot... everything builds to this song... and ever since I first heard/saw this, that the moment at 4:33 when the drum kicks in and the shot widens out is the climax of the movie. Still gives me goosebumps watching it now....
There are a few aliens that came to earth to perform. Jimi Hendrix was one. Frank Zappa was another, Gary Newman was one and Lou Reed was another, The man who takes the cake is David. Seen the Head live a few times and some of the best shows I've ever seen.
David bowie to I reckon?
Gary Newman? You mean Randy?
@@MichaelStefano-k3b Nope Gary. the one that did the song Cars. That was his solo but previous to that he was in a band called Tubeway Army. Look them up and listen and watch "Are Friends Electric" and "Down In The Park" first. If you never heard them they will blow you away.
I’m probably way older than you, but I would add Freddie Mercury to that list. His charisma & stage presence were just incredible.
Himself and Zappa came from another realm
I'm not a huge fan of Talking Heads, but this is how you put on a good show. Everyone on stage dancing, having fun, being just a bit crazy. Not like a few bands I've seen where everyone was basically statues with guitars.
Cocaine was pure around the time of making this
The energy is soooo contagious!!! I'm literally sitting on my futon waking up and I'm still having a great time
It feels as though contagious is the only appropriate word to describe this song. Unless a person has a traumatic experience tied to it, I would bet they cant help but move around when listening to this song. It already had an upbeat tempo, but the band took that to its supreme point during this performance. Nothing was left in them when they finished playing that night, Im sure of it.
We get, you got enlightened by Japan
@@kensukefan47 condolences on the loss of your intellect
I absolutely loved seeing this in the theaters. It was the first time I actually saw the film and I was the only person in the theater too. So I had to sing along to this absolute masterpiece
That must have been incredible! The theater we saw it in was full.
The 2 singers/guitarists look like they can barely contain themselves. I wish everyone could have a career they're this excited about.
When somebody asks me what i love about new wave music or what i think is the best concert film, i show them this. I do think last waltz is a VERY close second.
I have a bias for stop making sense but I sat down and watched the last waltz and it's great but like halfway through I was like "this is completely out of order isn't it" and it is, and I've seen it several times since and there's still that little nagging thing where I wish I could have just seen the whole concert as a performance
I recall seeing this in a little cinema in London and we were all dancing in the aisles; it was just so good!!!
This mix is such a major improvement.
Cillian Murphy should play David Byrne in his biopic. 😂
Reddit moment
we gotta focus on making music biopics actually good first
Literally the first thing that came to my mind when David showed up on stage.
TOTALLY thought the same thing watching this again!
I don't know about any of this. I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was Cillian 'cause I read that he used to be in a band too (for fun I guess, haha...). Indeed, Cillian would play him really well
My childhood memories come flooding back when I hear this. Thank you. Straw Hat pizza, A&W root beer, pinball, donkey Kong.
2:17 I can feel the joy radiating off him
The backup singers ❤
what a band !!!! so many good songs out of this outfit !!!
Truly once in a lifetime experience
favourite track from this concert, favourite performance of this track
Your energy is ou t standing! I am so happy when watching you preform. My heart soars!
Stop Making Sense is such an amazing achievement in itself it's absolutely the best musical documentary of all time. Just incredible
Has anything, anytime, anywhere been performed with greater energy? Awesome.
you may not see another live engaging performance as good as this ever again 👌
What am I watching, it's so Talking Heads. So much going on love it.
I’m recently getting to know talking heads and I think the vibe and excitement that comes from the music, the atmosphere, the people and everything all together makes this music a blast and it’s truly entertainment on a level rarely seen by most musicians. Definitely a group that changes the genre to a new place and evolves the music world. Cheers 🍻 love to ya all 🫶
Play this at my funeral
hes getting cremated
I saw this tour. I’m not sure I actually saw a minute of what was happening on the stage. Everyone was dancing every which way, just completely lost in the groove. Then I missed this movie, and only just saw it. So so so good. Still good!
This is such a magical moment. Brings the entire audience out of their seats. It always gives me goosebumps
Great song and this live version is awesome I really want to watch the whole movie now
OH MY GOD!! Hell damn yeah!! Bring these days back!!
This cinematography for this song goes so crazy
Just listening much less being able to watch them is incredible. I feel happy inside!
You make me feel great! Your soul is beautiful.
LOVING THE ENERGY .
You can’t watch this film without dancing!! So good! 🎉
When this movie was released, it played for almost an entire year at the 8th Street Playhouse in NYC.
That truly is one the best stage performances ever. You never know what you're going to get with David Byrne.
Compelling is the word. I’m late to the party but have now downloaded every album they made and heading into a deep dive. Some of his looks are giving me Russell Crowe in LA Confidential.
Where is everyone today that was in this performance? It's awesome and timeless.
Amazing film. Just watched this in my documentary filmmaking class
Probably the only studio ever to actually love what they are doing as a collective . Im sure there are passionate people in the rest of the bug studios but at the end of the day they only make what is considered " correct " at any given time . Big studio with the indie studio mentality will abd has given us ( thank you A24) some of the best culturally rich experiences in recent cinema . ( GOD FUCKING DAMN The Green Knight 💚 was an outerworldy film )
Wow they still sound amazing
This is insanely good. Unreal.
… when you REALLY feel the music🎶🕺🕺🕺
New favourite music video! This is phenomenal. Love the visual storytelling.
Their fun is contagious. God wish I had seen this live
Audacious, relentless, thought provoking, cathartic. Undoubtedly Xiu Xiu. Can’t wait for the new record
everyone is having so much fun i love!!!!
Miss you guys.
Still have my autographed Tortelvis sweat towel from a 90’s Las Vegas show! 🤘
I'll never get tired of this.
Such great music & times we enjoyed in the 80's.
Thank you for posting this, A24.....proving yet again why A24 is the coolest studio in the game💯
This is so epic… “Does anyone have any questions?”
Crowd: “Nope, got it thank you!”
I can feel the energy
Love this song
Jerry Harrison’s work updating the soundtrack is amazing.
'Stop Making Sense' (1984) is often referred to as the greatest live concert movie of all time, and you can see why! The 2023 restored version is supposed to be excellent (played in IMAX which would be mind blowing). What a fantastic performance!
lo acabo de ver en guadalajara mexico ,,,, exelente !!!!!!!!!!! ahora entiendo por que se le considera de los mejores conciertos en vivo en la historia!
this is so badass
All of you have awakened my soul!!!
So easy listening... Great ❤
Please rerelease this in imax and have a 4K release in the uk
They had it in Imax screens last year.
Christopher Nolan + A24 + Cillian Murphy: BURNING DOWN THE HOUSE BIOPIC!!
Jonathan Demme is the director
I will be watch this documentary in my city this week, in Fortaleza (Brazil)!
timeless classic
saw this and loved it even though I'm not a huge Talking Heads fan
That looks like SO much fun to play
More please of this lovely 🥰
won't late so much please!!! i want it and want it asap!! :) 4k and dolby atmos! wow great work! :)
This concert could double as a live concert and 80's workout video.
I'm sad I missed the re-release in theaters, but I pre-ordered the Blu-ray and cannot wait to see the full movie!! This clip was so magnetic, I felt myself moving to it! 🤓
This movie/album inspired my passion for music
This version is superior to the album version imo, i remember being a kid in my parents car, my mum hating the song but my dad and I loved it
Kakav vokal❤i kakav bend jbt❤
It is impossible to have a bad time watching this movie!
Seen this movie back in the day didn't know the house was still on Fire
Please put out an affordable 4K
Affordable lol
It's out digitally in 4K for $20.
@@DJGamingSmash Digital sucks. We want physical

Astonishing ❤
imagine being there, so cool
I was at the Philly SMS tour show. Later I found out my friend was also there. Her group was a couple of years younger than ours.
A24 kills it
No, Talking Heads do
Stunning 👌👌
I just wish this video were louder. All of my components are @ top volume & I can barely hear it. Still a great song.
Goodness gracious
"Baby, what did you expect?
Youre gonna burst into flame...
Burning down the house!"
the energy is electric in this whole film and makes me get up and dance until i sweat
First time i heard was as a freshman in college...next day are classes but my older roommates decided to have a party!
i wish i played in a band like this...
This was a funk band, this is like maybe 15% new wave.
"Along with watching this as a concert film you can also watch this as an aerobics video. Do what I do for as long as I do it and as hard as I do it, you'll be in good shape by the end!" - David Byrne (commentary track)
I know full well, that David handing out his guitar without looking at the end is part of the routine and really nothing special, but it still looks cool as hell.
