TALKING HEADS’ CLASSIC 1984 concert film Stop Making Sense - Number Four on Rolling Stone’s List of the Best Music Documentaries - will return to theaters later this year with a new 4K restoration courtesy of A24. The 1984 concert film's soundtrack will also be released in its complete form for the first time in August . When I first saw this in the theaters EVERY Body was dancing their asses off in the isles. More energy on the screen than far too many live shows I've witnessed...
Saw the original at Castro Theater in San Francisco. Totally sold out. The band was there on stage doing a Q&A with Jonathan Demme, then the film played. Everybody dancing in the aisles just freaking out. I will never forget it! Live in Mexico now and I don’t think the new film has played anywhere here. I’d LOVE to see it.
Just unbelievably awesome energy I'm so precise. I always dance and jump around when I hear this song... It creates pure energy. And that was long before I saw this performance.
Saw this show in Melbourne (Australia) in the early eighties. It was as good as it gets, great songs, huge energy, just everything was beyond fantastic. Definitely worth watching the Stop Making Sense movie. It was a great week of concerts in Melbourne, Simply Red and Eurythmics two nights and Talking Heads and The Pretenders on the other two nights. So we warmed up with The Pretenders! And they were amazing, Then Talking Heads. Wow.
I saw all of them at the Narara festival outside of Sydney. I remember Byrne coming on stage on his own to play Psycho Killer, and he said the rest of the band had been held up and he'd have to do the show on his own, with a backing tape. The crowd were like what? Anyway, one by one they came on as seen in the film. Unfortunately, I wasn't in peak physical condition, because they came on after 11pm, and I remember very little of the performance. I had to see the movie when it came out to see what I'd missed. Only the best live performance that could ever be imagined.
This movie Stop Making Sense, the entire movie, is one of my feel-good movies of all time. I can't help but be full of joy when I watch it.

That lead guitar player is Alex Weir. Man was/is awesome. A man for his playing time. Set the tone for those who came after.
The 80's were the best time to be alive! I went to both High School and College in the 80's! Loved this time! MISS this time!
I have never watched this video. I so enjoy this group. David is special.!!!!! A little cardio in the middle of the show, why not!
One dislike was guy who's house actually burned down
Well now we'll never know how many more houses burned down thanks to 1984Tube.
Arsonist is one letter from arborist…nothing shows who your real friends are better than blasting this - wherever you are.
Well- psycho killer…and life during wartime…and burning down your friends house…that really brings it home
It was an Alpha Beta from Revenge of the Nerds. Perhaps Stan, or Ogre.
Whose, actually.
Don't be mean. I do have a dear friend whose house was burned down by an arsonist. Horrible experience. Generations of memories lost. Fortunately, no lives were lost. But a family was fractured and broken. [It's still a great song.]
I have no idea why I like this band but I have loved them since they came out.
Saw them mid 80s from beginning to end nonstop dancing !!! Great memories !! ❤
The rhythm section rules!
watch out
You might get what you're after
Cool babies
Strange but not a stranger
I'm an ordinary guy
Burning down the house
Hold tight
Wait 'til the party's over
Hold tight
We're in for nasty weather
There has got to be a way
Burning down the house
Here's your ticket, pack your bags
Time for jumpin' overboard
Transportation is here
Close enough but not too far
Maybe you know where you are
Fightin' fire with fire
Ah, all wet
Hey, you might need a raincoat
Shakedown
Dreams walking in broad daylight
365 degrees
Burning down the house
It was once upon a place
Sometimes I listen to myself
Gonna come in first place
People on their way to work
Said baby what do you expect?
Gonna burst into flames, ah
Burning down the house
My house
Is out of the ordinary
That's right
Don't wannna hurt nobody
Some things sure can sweep me off my feet
Burning down the house
No visible means of support
And you have not seen nothin' yet
Everything's stuck together
And I don't know what you expect
Staring into the TV set
Fightin' fire with fire, ah
This had to be one hell of a show
i dont think ive seen a band have this much fun on stage
energy on another level.
When this song became popular, I was an electrician working in a very conservatively run factory. They had an outbuilding, where they ran tests on products that were made there. They had their own PA system in that building and the younger guys would play this song over the PA. It drove the old-timers nuts! Being young, I enjoyed the music! Memories...

Carrying on the torch from James Brown as the hardest working man in showbusiness.
Maybe my all time favorite live album. I still listen to it when I'm driving.
Incredible, just as I remembered it. This song and performance has incredible energy.
Many kids missed real music 🎵🎶 growing up in the 80s The era of great music 🎵🎶❤️🎧🎤🎸
An AMAZING show, and amazing movie.
