    Ordered mine after I saw Mr SG’s review. I can’t get it to click unless I swing properly, just went out in the garage to double check, (but if I whip the shit out of my wrists it will click on any plane) anyway, practiced with it, timed the click up with the ball strike, and was blasting perfect shots. Translated directly to my club afterwards. 🤷🏻‍♂️ mine works great. (6.1 HCP)

      Glad you are finding success with it! From everyone that has commented with their experience... my overall take is still that the "click" really has no significance outside of getting speed down through the impact area and it does nothing for path which is the claim. The messaging is just as muddy too... Rocco says just get the click and then hit it, Eric says the click should happen after the ball, Mr. SG says it should happen at impact... So it goes from make it click, to actually don't make it click, to make it click in just one circumstance only. You being a 6.1 (grats btw) I'm sure you can groove any club and I would probably surmise you are benefiting more from the grip and tempo checks. Appreciate the comment, cheers!

      Exactly what I put in my comment to the suggestion it’s a “scam” - it’s not even close to a scam - what are they claiming it doesn’t do - it clicks at perfect contact and gives priceless feedback to contact and energy transfer, weather you don’t like it is your opinion but for the word Scam to be associated isn’t only false it’s completely opposite

    The two training aids that worked for me were the Speed Whoosh and the Matzie Swing Perfecter. I used those two exclusively and had some great gains while fixing my over the top, steep club path. I also picked up a Matzie swing trainer but I don't use that as much as my Swing Perfecter. Great video. Just found your channel from searching after watching Mr SG. I like a honest channel for once , not like how a lot are getting like now where they review a club , say how awesome it is and edit shots where they are actually hitting 15 shots later from their last shot on screen but edited as though it was their next shot . Also how the chipper was the best thing since slice bread but they scull it across the green and say " you have to practice with this club . Well der, if you practice with any club , you will get better.

    I have to say, I watched your first video and had already ordered the straight stick. After watching your video I cancelled my order, but the owner Brixton called me personally as I pointed him to your video. He was totally professional and did not disparage you for your review. He convinced me to try the club and the club arrived the day after we spoke. I cant say I agree at all with your review or the person who “hit the worst irons of his life after using this training aid”. I am a 16 handicap who struggles with iron striking lately. After hitting 5 balls with this club and some practice swings with the club I played the best golf of my life in my league that night, AND had a hole in one. Since that day I have used the aid 3 times and am playing the best golf I have ever played with 90% of my irons going straight as an arrow. My experience with this club has been the best ever. I own every training aid ever made and I have to say this is the best and nothing comes close, it literally fixed me in a few days. I feel like you are dead wrong on this. If it didnt work for you I am sure you are the .000001% of people it may not work for, but for the vast majority of golfers I cant see how this cant fix their games after my experience. Anyway, just had to say this.

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  Год назад +3

      Super stoked you saw results! The primary purpose for me purchasing this club was to get better not a clickbait dunk on PG. I do not tend to struggle with ball striking (compression) so to speak with my irons... I struggle with the path, which leads to my big misses. They specifically market it as a tool to help address path. I watched all the videos, did the training, specifically used it as an aid as directed since the day it has arrived, and as a warm-up device before playing multiple rounds (even though I only mention 1 in the video). It does not work for ME and the stated "technology" of the club IS misleading. I hope others see your side and results because ultimately we just want to play better and I wish that success on everyone that plays this silly game. Cheers!

      Seems to me like you got hit with a huge placebo my dude 😂. I can almost guarantee you just by the looks of that thing that there is 0 technology in that that is going to accurately release the “clicker” based on swing plane and swing speed. What are they using for that? A gyroscope? Sensors? Nope. Literally nothing. It’s just a piece of plastic that makes a clicks noise. No chance that is going to affect your swing plane, contact, or tempo at all. Glad your “sugar pill” worked for you though!

    • @icanduo
      @icanduo 11 месяцев назад

      @user-pi8jk4tv6g Different type of swing trainers do work specially at the beginning. In my personal case, I don't stay practicing with same trainer over and over after I got my habit "fixed" and overly confident myself would drop it move on to the next without keep using that trainer anymore and fell back to the old habit. There is no placebo in golf. He must have done something right. It's even possible that he will pick up his old habit AGAIN, ignoring the proper clicks anymore because after all he's the one that has to reinforce the movement not this tool. He just gotta keep it going which is the hardest part for every golfer.

    Every training aid out there could be analyzed / debated to highlight all the pros and the cons. Biggest thing I see with the Straight Stick is the following 1) Most golfers have poor grips. Heck Scottie Scheffler the number 1 ranked golfer in the world hits balls with a pre-molded grip. He recognizes the importance of what making your grip 1-2% better does. 98% of golfers on the planet could benefit a TON from a grip just 5-10% better. Or at the minimum a slightly stronger grip. The adjustable grip allows golfers with a weak grip to correct it and have more of a square face. If the face is open you have to come over the top. Improving the grip should help golfers shallow and square the face better. 2) The Straight Stick helps you have a more athletic downswing, build in more lag/release the club better through the feedback of the clicker. 3) Improving Plane - Some valid points this club won't PERFECT your plane, but if you swing under 100 MPH it is harder to click it if you are over the top. If you swing over 100 MPH (which most ppl don't) you can click it with your plane being off. I think we could all agree every training aid has pros and cons, but man #1 and #2 on this list are pretty solid wins for most golfers trying to get better. :)

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  Год назад +1

      Totally agree, my main issue is that it is not being presented that way. Grip trainer to help feel speed through impact… yes. No click if you aren’t in the “slot”, correct path, etc etc. (which they all plug)… no. I’m pretty confident that it wouldn’t sell as well if if was the former. I have another follow up coming Sunday, hopefully. Cheers!

      @@GolfOnTap If I were you I'd send the club back if you don't like it. Just might not be for you. :) Company honors a refund if people don't like it. Would be great to get some feedback on how well the company handles support. Don't see a lot of pros giving lessons and saying if you don't get better I'll give you ALL your money back. :) I just disagree a bit saying it's for beginners. When 99% of golfers could benefit from a better grip and more athletic release and some sort of feedback. The data shows the average golfer shoots a 100, and heck that's not counting the folks not keeping score. In that case the average player shoots 110. Also according to the USGA golfers get 1 shot worse after playing for 3 years. Is helping golfers improve their grip, swing more athletically hurting them or helping? I'd say 90% of golfers could benefit from this, and it's something that should be highlighted. Would be interested to see how you compare this to the LagShot, Orange Whip, etc.

    This video is gold……..excellent review. I play to a 6 hncp and when I tried a friend’s straight stick I could make it click with different swing types, but my friend (who is a beginning golfer) had to make a “better” swing to make it click. I could also make a swing where I would hold off and the mechanism wouldn’t click. My opinion, if you have an understanding of the golf swing you can release and make the mechanism click. On a positive note, I think for a beginning golfer the product has some merit. The adjustable grip reminder is good. I also think the click provides feedback for those working on a more delayed release. All in all it was a good review…….keep doing what you’re doing……liked and followed.

    • @askmelater7768
      @askmelater7768 Год назад +1

      You also can get it to click right at impact, at any swing speed or path, and with any type of contact with the ball (hitting it thin, fat, or perfectly flush) because the inertial force of a moving object hitting a stationary object is greater than the magnetic force holding the metal disc and thus dislodge it right at impact. So, even a sh*tty swing will give positive aural feedback. It's a complete scam!

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  Год назад +1

      I appreciate the comment and honestly I do see some value in this for a beginner golfer. Grip trainer and feeling that speed through the impact zone with the click. Which is the main reason I and probably others decided to purchase it. Cheers Dude!

      Wow at all the mixed reviews! Just have a question for the one's who cannot make it click, but yet still play decent golf. Could it possibly be your using more arm than wrist? Is it possible you have learned how to control your accuracy and striking even though your mechanics are not perfect? I am a scratch golfer before you ask. I also play this game at a high level for an amatuer and I could not make it click at first. My golf pro/coach/caddie swung it at 100mph and made it click the first time. That's when I knew I had work to do. Even though my stats showed I was a good player, my release was late and I was not nearly compressing the ball at impact. This swing trainer not only helped my swing, which I thought was great, and now that my release is on point I have picked up an average of 10 yards per club. This took some getting used to on the links, because I had to almost drop a club to stay at my previous distance. So to say this is only for begginers is not true IMO. However, it is your game and your money. Play it how ever you like as long as you enjoy the game.

Still, unless your swing speed is super consistent, can't count on this to identify early release. A slightly faster swing will release the magnet early even if you're not "early releasing".

      I’m calling shenanigans on that. There’s nothing in the promo material or training videos that says as such. And honestly it refutes their whole “just swing and click it” pitch. The affiliated reviews also never truly demonstrate a proper "poor" swing much less hit balls with a poor swing. Because if they did it would click and contradict the whole thing. My wife (who has never golfed) gets it to click by hitting 5 inches behind the ball. Just saying, that's my experience. I feel its misleading, I hope other find success and lower their scores with it, but its not for me. Cheers!

    I don’t see many women golfers commenting on the Straight Stick.
    Although I had different results, I liked your review. Because it’s a men’s 7i, it’s heavier than just about all of my clubs. For that reason, it’s changed my warm-up routine.
    For me, what I found was that my grip and wrists impacted the click more than the speed. If my grip was too loose or tight, I often couldn’t get it to click when swinging no matter what I did.
    Lastly, I don’t have the mobility I wished I did, and I’ve noticed that warming up with the straight stick has helped me increase my range of motion - likely because it’s heavier than even my Orange Whip.
    So, I agree that the claims are Uber-hyped. However, there may be a small case to use the straight stick as a conditioning aid. And at least for me, it’s the mobility & conditioning that’s made the difference in my game.
    Thanks for your review!

Older folks (like me) or anyone with hip/knee injuries have found it useful as a conditioning aid. Maybe a secondary (and more accurate) market focused on these types of benefits might draw better reviews. Ultimately, folks looking for magic fairy dust to fix their golf game will be disappointed by this device: it takes work, effort, and persistence to improve. UPDATE:
    I looked at the club and I could see the small roundish magnet where the clicking ring sits when magnetized. I thought maybe if I rotated the magnet housing part to a different position that it might make a difference swinging without hitting a ball .. didn't make any difference, still couldn't get it to click with practice swings. Thinking that the magnet is too strong (stronger than yours .. maybe a fix to initial early shipments, I received mine in mid-June), I decided to add two small pieces of masking tape over the magnet to see if it would 'weaken' the magnet. Lo and behold, it started clicking as advertised. I'm still experimenting with this, but at least, it doesn't take '250mph' swing for me to get it to click with practice swings. This kinda verifies that the magnets in these are not consistent and that the early issues had weak magnets, while later ones had overly strong magnets.
    PREVIOUS:
    I've been having contact issues along with the dreaded shanks, so was hoping this would help with that.
    My experience has been the opposite regarding the 'clicking'.
    I found it very difficult to consistently ‘click’ even at the lowest speed, without hitting a ball. I have to really swing much harder than normal, even at the lowest speed setting, which does not work for me (or maybe it does indirectly by building up my swing speed .. IDK). Maybe the magnet is much stronger than yours .. I'm 69 with swing speed about the same as my age (geesus) .. 17 hcp.
    For me, it would consistently click only when I hit a ball; however, it clicks regardless of my swing path, in-to-out or out-to-in and even at higher speed settings (not my swing normal speeds). I just don’t find that it helps me hit straight shots since it clicks regardless of swing path. I could still get it to click and shank the ball.
    I will give it another few weeks or so of practice before requesting a refund .. not optimistic, but still open-minded about it. Thanks for your honest review.

It’s hard for me to imagine this company, Rocco, and Eric Corgorno all risking their reputation on a scam product. Eric puts out good information and has a huge RUclips following. Just seems odd he would risk ruining that to make a few quick bucks on a worthless product. Mine is supposed to be here tomorrow. The truth is, you never see Rocco or Eric actually SWING the club with PURPOSE or hit a ball when demonstrating a poor club path. There's a RUclips instructor who's recommending this thing. I can see how it might help with full extension thru the hitting area & getting your speed after impact but how could it help with swing plane? Plane is a relatively easy fix & you don't need to spend $140 to correct it. As for releasing lag at the proper time, you can make 1 of these for next to nothing & you already have the main part of it which is the club of your choice. You can use anything that will slide easily down the shaft & you don't need to use a full swing. Even a toilet paper roll will do. You can start the swing from hip high parallel to the ground as if you're hitting pitch shots. Just swing as you normally would, if the roll hits the clubhead before or at the ball, you know you've released too early. If it hits it after impact when your arms are extended, you're releasing properly thru the ball. It's only training for a proper release point & full extension after impact & nothing else. Again, if your wrists are set properly at waist high, that can be your swing starting point.

If you focus on swing with speed and clicks past impact your arms straight past impact with extension. The setting for swing speed nerds to be correct otherwise you can swing on any path. If you hear the click before hitting the ball than club is releasing to early and if hearing after, club is releasing too late. Maybe the too inside or too outside path has something to do with that?

    What's your handicap? The reason I ask: It seems like you already have a good swing, which implies a pretty low handicap. If that's the case, you may not be the target audience for this club. If you already have a swing that is reliable and strikes the ball pretty well and consistently, this may not be for you and, in fact, might actually screw up your swing.
    I'm a 20 handicap, mostly because of poor, inconsistent ball striking. I ordered this a few days ago, still waiting to get it. But I hope that I'm the target demographic: a golfer looking to improve ball striking. Also, the promotional videos mention it's not just about getting the magnet to release: it's about getting the magnet to "click" at the exact moment of impact. Finally, I view these as tools for the driving range, warm-up kind of things, like a heavy stick or something similar. And if nothing else, they're supposed to have a 365 days, no questions asked refund policy.

Although this is never stated in any of the promo/training videos, they directly reference your swing speed in relation to getting it to release. However, I think people are missing the main point. The clicker will release almost in ANY circumstance once that speed it reached NOT only when you are "in the slot". So what exactly are you timing then? Nothing... you can still have any number of path and club face issues. The only the you are achieving is making a click that does not really signify anything at all. Thanks for the thought process, I hadn't considered it in that way. Cheers!

      Oh I agree with you after seeing your video. It seems ridiculous that you were able to get it to click with all those different swings and slow swings etc. About the only positive I see in this club as a highschool coach would is the grip feature of being able to switch from neutral to strong etc, and give the kids a consistent grip to work with. I have other similar clubs, just not the grip adjustability.

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  Год назад +1

      That's basically where I landed with this thing. If I wanted to teach my better half how to grip and swing with speed through the impact area, it is a decent tool. The click is satisfying, I'll give it that credit. Best to you and your students, cheers!

    • @DB377AVIA

      Yea that’s exactly how it works, it’s not harder to get the magnet to release, it just takes longer click at impact. You want them to match.

      I contacted the PG folks. Long story short. They told me to move that washer up and down a few times. Secondly, I did not know my swing speed. Their swing speeds are relative to using a driver. With that being said, I moved my swing speed to between 65 and 70. Remember to move the washer up on the shaft. I have been practicing Ben Hogan’s right elbow actually attached pretty darn close to the right hip. As I made the proper turn to the inside and not just to the ball, but threw the ball and finish high, which is actually somewhat outside. PG folks are easy to work with and if you look online about some demonstrations with the straight stick u tubes… there are some nay Sayers, and there are some yay, Sayers. I am a yeah sayer!

    I am a 4 handicap and have swung the straight stick several times that a buddy has. it has helped him and to get a more consistent swing and be a better ball striker. I agree the click won't fix a bad swing plane but I believe for high handicappers the combination of the grip trainer and the click can help get a better grip and a more rhythmic swing. Having said that, personally I still think the best swing aid is weighted club with aq grip trainer grip just used to warm up before playing (assuming you can't have a nice 45 minute range session) and use some swing path aids on the ground (balls/shafts/plastic range buckets, whatever). Then again I always come back to Lee Trevino's favorite tip for amateur golfers; He gives the tip and then said, "oh and hitting 200 or 300 balls daily at the range doesn't hurt either"

      I really appreciate the input Steve and ultimately that is where I also landed on the use of this product. I'm actually editing a follow up video right now (got to ride that RUclips wave) basically saying that. It's great for a beginner golfer to help groove a swing and simulate speed through impact. However, it is not marketed that way and it is misleading by PG and its affiliates. Cheers!

      Hey Freddie! I've commented a couple times that I think this would be helpful for just your straight up new golfer who has never really swung a club. Outside of that, I do not feel it does much. For your grip issues, I would just order a Lamkin Grip Trainer (Amazon - $11) and slap it on an old or 2nd hand club so you can actually swing and hit balls. Hope that helps, cheers!

    I am curious as to whether you watched the promotional material that came with the straight stick? I don't have the straight stick but was interested and watched the instructional material that comes with it and it's not as simple as it should click and that's it. The video state that the clicker should be clicking at the exact point of impact. When swinging too far from the inside or too far over the top most will have an early release or late release. In the video you could clearly hear your clicker clicking before you struck the ball. I'm curious as to whether you started training with the straight stick in that aspect and started trying to time up the click with your ball striking if it makes a difference and would hate to see somebody put off this product when in fact it could help if it was being used correctly. I may be wrong in it could be a gimmick like so many golf training aids are I would just like to see all the instructions being followed first before somebody writes it off as a gimmick.

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  Год назад

      This is a common comment thus far. I have watched all the promos and the training videos for this thing from PG and this too me just seems like grabbing at straws. The reality is the "compression clicker" will release with moderate speed in almost any circumstance despite their claims. Even Eric, Rocco, whoever also say it shouldn't click with an "early or late" extension, which is then contradicted in Mr. SG's video saying it released to early. Impact of the ball or ground will also make it click regardless of how the club was swung. Timing the click is irrelevant, it doesn't mean anything. It is literally only a measure that you swung the club fast enough to make a magnet release. Cheers!

    On the website, it tells you that you're not just looking to make it click, but it should click at the same time you hit the ball. It's not supposed to click if you cast the club, and I'm betting at lower swing speeds like most amateurs, that's probably the case. Even with an over the top swing, your demonstrator not only has a higher swing speed, but he probably still has good release, so it's going to click. Also, the speed setting is simply there because at higher speeds, the magnet is going to reach the end of the club faster, so you have to move the magnet farther from the end in order for the click to be timed correctly for the swing. I really don't think this was a good demonstration.

    • @GolfOnTap
      @GolfOnTap  6 месяцев назад +1

      This has been a common critique and they have totally updated their mile long web page since this video... but still the click doesn't matter. It will and can release and click for almost any swing once enough force is met. The club path and club face can be in any direction and it will click. Even their own affiliates gave conflicting information on how it works. Their scientific "speed scale" are just hashes 1 inch apart... even if this was for "timing" I seriously doubt the difference between 60 to 90+ is three inches perfectly space apart. The initial marketing for this NEVER implied it is to only click at impact, they said it was an automatic A.I. driven swing trainer that will only click when you are in the magical slot leading to penetrating pin seeking missiles right on top of the flag, "Just make it click!" or "One swing trainer to fix all swing problems!" The grip trainer is decent, but after so many swing it fails as well because it cannot hold up to impact. You would be better off just putting a grip trainer on an old 7-iron for maybe $15 and you'll have a way better training device. Cheers!

    I have the driver version of this and I cannot get it to click on a bad swing plane, I have tried on the slowest swing speed (when I can get it to click on a setting above the 100 line when swinging on plane). I think it may just be the magnet being looser on your iron straight stick because mine seems really strong compared to yours, like yours sseems like you give no effort and it clicks. So this comes down to for me quality which isn't a great sign for Performance Golf. Although their customer service is great and they will refund you up to a year, they should really make sure their product is built great.

    2) Voice Caddie 2 launch monitor, used $75
    3) Power Plane pro with alignment sticks. $50. This will helps you swing on plane, no hook, no slice. You can also use it to keep your head steady and stop a sway.
    4) magnetic directional thing. ($10) it helps with showing where you club is aligned.
    5) Enhua golf swing trainer, like the orange whip, with a grip trainer device $30 helps to warm up and get your tempo right.
    6) VLS golf system. $60 This is Todd Kolb’s Vertical Line Swing system this and other you tube videos have gotten me playing well. Driving dead straight over 100 mph and getting 265-275.
    All in all, we have different styles and ways to get to the pin. Not all things work for everyone. I now swing more vertical than I used to, but it works for me.
