over the years i have accumulated so many golf training aids, orange whip, swing setter, lasers, inside approach, medicus, momentum, the tally, GRF training system, swing fan, and most recently the GEM….none of these changed my handicap! maybe for a complete beginner but if your a 15 HCP only practicing your short game and keeping it in the fairway is gonna produce better rounds. Your honest review is great bcz our not giving false hope like all the others.

@@GolfOnTap You are exactly right on that. I have wasted so much money on some of these local coach/instructors only to find out they are not that great of an instructor. Last guy I used had a special for 4 lessons and basically realized it was a waste of my time after the first lesson. He basically watched me swing said not too bad and mostly talked the entire lesson. Worthless. Wish I had access to some of these RUclips instructors like Steve Johnson, Danny Maude, and I would say Eric Cogorno but now after seeing him promote this stick I dunno anymore! I guess they all take the money in the end.

Ive been using my DIY version for a few months now. I have really seen an improvement. I shoot in the 80's (12hc) now where before I was a low/mid 90's (18hc)player all last year and prior to making the DIY version.

Dude, you made me laugh so hard...I couldn't stop for minutes!!!! I am saying this with the admission that I also bought this thing and I do use it sometimes for warm up before a round , mainly for the grip. I think it's a smart tool for its grip-feature and I never really swing it for the click (because then all my attention goes toward hearing the click and swing paths and angles go out the window). I think the whole magnet - clicking thing is gimmicky, but the rest of the club is good for gripping purposes. Your video definitely watch - worthy and I appreciate your sense of humor!!! PS. the way you made the endorsers wrong (about the clicking ) was just genius! Funny as hell . 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

I love this and the first video! Definitely keep it going! I didn’t, for 1 second, think you were trying to “debunk” or put down the straight stick, like you had a bias or pre-conceived notion. If it had performed like they say, you would have said that. So I appreciate the honest review. The internet is full of naysayers who would love nothing more than to criticize others no matter what. The other thing is, golf is a hard game. There is no one tool that fixes all the problems. And there is no quick fix that turns a 20 handicapper into a five handicapper in a month. I’m pretty much like you I’m a 14 handicap. I hit some good iron shots, but for the most part, I hit it off the toe. I leave it short, or I’m off-line. It’s taken me a long time to get to where I’m at, with lessons and practice. I will get better and there are some very good tools that give me feedback so I know what to work on and improve. You’re doing a great job, keep up the good work and thanks!

Thanks for the comment, I think I knew this at heart also but really it just struck a chord when I felt that PG was being misleading with the product. My swing has improved with a few lessons and swing thoughts I found to work for me, not a clicking noise. Cheers!

What I liked most about this video is that you represent the average mid or high-handicap golfer. This is the target population for this golf aid. If it isn't working for you after you went and bought the Straight Stick, why would I expect it to work for me? You clearly demonstrated that this club does not fulfill the claims being made by a lot of the pros. The sad part is that so many of the folks we follow on YT are recommending this, and it makes me wonder if they are more in it for themselves rather than those trying to learn the game and improve. I appreciate your honesty, and your demo of the club was hilarious. Great job!

Thanks for comment, I try to just get it real with my perspective. I am sure there are others that will have success or whatever. The fact that Performance Golf has also never even reached out to me regarding these videos is pretty telling also in my opinion. Cheers!

Yeah, you have to tell the truth. Appreciate that. I am a small youtuber as well (fishing channel) and recently started on the quest of learing golf at 55. For me that chuck dude 10 shot sequence or what ever ... I found a 10 minute video and copied his approach from that. What I liked about it was that it gave me a good feel of where I am supposed to be "as a whole" in the backswing...wrist, hands, head etc. and that gave me a "feel" to look for and re-create. Instant improvement. From there I just had to sort out timing and rotation and for that just watch Nelly Korda for 8 hours straigt. Its the golf swing I was watching I swear! :-). In one month I have increased distance and accuracy by like 40-50%. Thanks for the video

Thanks, even with timing the click I'm very skeptical. The "speed settings" are all one inch apart from 60 - 100 mph... like did they crunch the numbers or have some type of data backing up that that is the exact distance needed to have proper "timing or compression" in the golf swing. It seems odd that it would just be lines one inch apart across all ranges of swing speeds.... I don't know... I'm just some idiot on RUclips. Cheers!

Was around a 7 handicap back in high school then stopped for almost 2 decades.. came back and took a bunch of golf tec lessons.. the only tools they recommended and which seemed to help me get my swing back were basically free tools that you can buy fancier versions of - the hanger drill for the wrist (amazon version or just use a wire hanger), the punisher stick for takeaway (just hold an alignment rod in your grip with any stick), the lag shot for tempo (no cheap version), and a simple noodle setup to keep path alignment in check

I can tell you mine do not click as easily as you make it click. I’m looking for solid contact (ball first). My problem is early extension and chicken wing. If this helps me get rid of the chicken wing and make ball first contact on a consistent basis I’ll be happy. I can work on swing plane. Heck, if I was a 13 handicap I’d just play golf 😅. Maybe test it with a beginner or 20+ handicap? Anyway, appreciate the review!

I’m looking for a swing aid for release; your’s was first I watched on this product as I was going back and forth between this and the Lag Shot. Dam I’m glad I did!
I can see after I grabbed my friends how it does release regardless of the swing (and mine sucks). The issue with this aid isn’t that I won’t work, it is that the swing is too fast (anyones swing) to actually SEE the release point. Hence there can be no learning without a slow mo camera. What good is that?! I need this to practice on my own and get visual cues….not set up AV equipment.
Tried the Lag Shot as well and realized that tempo it can help with, but release it cannot either.
Don’t defend your video. I’d rather an HONEST, UNVARNISHED review to save my money for a lesson. Golf is expensive enough. Thanks for the help. This video is why I subscribed to you.

Thanks for this great video! You kept me (a lifelong slicer) from wasting my money on another phony aid!
I’ve purchased ridiculous amounts of money on training aids including the Medicus, weighted clubs, “The Sam 2,000” (although the “Sam 2,000” did dramatically improve my swing.
I just couldn’t devote the time and space to use it. I wound up giving it away.

It is! It does what is claims to do by giving you tactile feedback on your swing plane and body turn. It takes a little getting used to and figuring out what you need to do to stop the "wobble," but when you do, it is so gratifying and rewarding. Daily practices with the GEM will most definitely improve my iron play. I plan to construct the homemade version and use it with several clubs since I prefer attaching it to an old club and not having to remove it every ten swings or so to hit a ball. The homemade version by Migmatis Golf ruclips.net/video/K6ypAS820lw/видео.html can be made for under 15 dollars, and except for looks, will do the job just as well, I think.

I know! I think when I saw them "demonstrating" the club it was just so blatant and why I kind of took issue with it. It would seem to me that the CONCEPT is solid. When done properly, every persons swing has a maximum speed. If that speed is selected using slider adjustment as the break point (not the gauge, that's just a decal), when the speed of the "top magnet stop" reaches a predetermined speed, the weight of the washer exceeds the ability of the magnet to hold it and it clicks. When the magnet is closer to your hands, the magnet itself is moving slower. As a user moves the magnet further from the grip, the magnet is moving faster and magnet lose the fight at a slower hand speed. Makes perfect sense.
My question to you is; "is your swing speed identical when too far inside, on plane and over the top? From a physics perspective, I would think that the max speed will always be higher when there aren't other forces preying on speed (like pushing the club from the inside or flipping it from the top to come outside in) and that the issue with the recorded portion of your test might be a reliance on the gauge over the physics. My sense is (I don't have one of these but I ordered one because now I want to know), that the goal would be to create a control. A magnet placement at which you have to swing REALLY HARD to get the washer to release and then back it down the shaft in small adjustments until you get to a spot where it only releases if the club is on plane at a speed you are comfortable swinging.
Thank you for making me think.
