Vareo sailing in no wind

  • I like sailing performance boats (my RS Vareo in this case), because they are just so much fun to sail and I enjoy the ease with which they move in almost no wind. It's incredible that a boat can move at all when there's not even a ripple on the surface. Never mind sail faster than I could row!
    Sorry for the jerky video. It's tricky hand holding a camera when also steering and holding both mainsheet and spinnaker sheets.
    Of course it doesn't have to be a fibreglass monohull dinghy, a home built plywood trimaran can also sail fast in calm conditions. Here is my 14ft Zeta trimaran

    I'd say it is sailing in limited wind, rather than No wind. There's often a little bit of something to power you with, if you are patient!
