People call BMC “cringey” because Jeremy has a lot of autistic traits, and other characters have other neurodivergent traits. Most of the hate on BMC is rooted in ableism. I’m cool with it if people just… don’t like it, like they don’t like the music or thought the plot was bad but it gets in my nerves so much when they say it’s cringey, or when they say it’s “trying too hard to be relatable” because it is so relatable to neurodivergent people (all my ND friends love it) and just because neurotypical people don’t relate to it as much they find it weird.
As an ND person I do think it's good but I have to say I'm not a fan of the writing and the way it feels too much like adults who don't remember being teens trying to sound like teens (the use of language especially in The Smartphone Hour) just made it really hard to listen to for me personally. It kind of reminded me of that "how do you do fellow kids" meme. That said the lead's voice is pretty great and the orchestration is too
@@terryt9833 I totally get that. Imo unless it’s absolutely filled with it I don’t mind stuff like that, and when you think abt when BMC was written it actually wasn’t anything super outdated yet. It’s more when people say the show is bad bc of the way the characters act, and then they just list off a bunch of neurodivergent traits, I have no gripes with people who have genuine criticisms or just dislike the plot, writing, etc
