- The Zinc might be a challenge to get just right, but it might be one of the coolest competition sidearms I've ever seen. It's truly a marvel of 3D Printed design.

I do want to offer one redaction, there are upon further inspection, at least two custom pieces of hardware in the kit. Hats off to Autosidearm as theyre so cleanly indexed I didn't notice they were custom at first!

i can hear all the people going akimbo at all the wars with their custom extended mags and slowmo screams
Id go with the nexus mk 2 or the aeon with half lengths
The fact that people are debating if we should even call the hobby "Nerf" or "Nerfing" kind of is a giant red flag to Hasbro....It kind of shows how much they screwed themselves over recently.
That aside, that's a pretty cool sidearm!
I finished building my Zinc yesterday, nightmare is the right word. Yes it is very cool. No, I would not like to build another one.
Oh yeah, that really does look like a future 45 ACP.
@ICan SmellYou yes definitely looks like a P-2016
Looks a little like a high point
This is what I want! Yeah don’t care about hyper, we need innovation for what we have instead of just restarting.
To be fair, nerf makes a lot of new things, although they are gimmicky.
@@EvanX109 What have the made unique lately? Ultra was just a screwed up half dart and elite 2.0 was errrr unique, Dino squad is reshells, curveshot was just a nozzle out of darts already did and hyper is smol rival.
I do wish nerf made half darts and spent less time making sucky new lines, but hyper does seem like it will be good tho and possibly worth starting over.
@@Itz_Chorizo hyper looks mad ugly though
I just finished my Zinc yesterday, My biggest issue was the catch. It was beyond touchy. Overall it was fun to build and it hits really hard!
Glad to see the ZINC in the signature Drac colors! - Perry
P.S. Good use of the Elite barrel.
YESSS finally a pistol with a magazine
...I could see hyper ammo being used in this with a few tweeks if the hyper ammo is similar in size to half-length darts.
Gosh I love seeing your dog when you do videos.
The Zinc is basically the toy version of the Laugo Alien handgun chambered in 9mm parabellum
I got a Spring Thunder and had to dismantle and reassemble it several times
What i can do when i see this? My eyes...It’s zinc...as Drac said
-Hotel Transylvania-
I usually go with lime green and black for my builds cuz it reminds me of the og Xbox colours
I agree, Blaster Tag is unfortunately the absolute best name.
Dang that gravity mag drop is satisfying.
When will you be doing integration mods again, perhaps like an integration between a rapid strike with a stampede stock and longshot barrel and front gun.
The "It doesn't take Talon" argument is dumb. The real steel world, airsoft, and paintball almost always have proprietary magazines per each system. Foam dart blaster designers have been pretty generous to the community by utilizing existing magazines (or lazy, I don't know any of the designers personally). This blaster design is solid.
Tight tolerances are a pain to deal with but sometimes necessary. I do mechanical design for a living and I can tell you sometimes there is nothing you can do about it. However we also have to keep in mind, this is designed for 3D printing. 3D printers aren't the most precise machines out there (depending on the one you get that is, but hobby machines definitely wouldn't be considered precision machines). I really think, and this is the professional in me speaking, that if you're going to design a blaster with even marginally tight tolerances you need to make a print for it. Drawings of precision fit parts are crucial if you want the person making and/or assembling these parts to do the job right the first time.
I'll get off my soapbox now lol Nice vid Drac. Glad that you cover so much that comes out in this community.
I get both sides, if everyone agrees to use a type of magazine and one person decides to make a proprietary one its a bit annoying having to make a whole new magazine for just one thing, im not that experienced with design related things (even though that's what im studying haha) but im guessing a proprietary magazine makes for a more compact and/or better design as you arent limited by the talon mags (correct me if im wrong)
@@wat5133 I think he mostly did it for the grip size , I'm working on a Gecko right now and its grip is massive.
@@PointBlank65 that makes alot of sense
The magazine argument is spot on, it doesn't make too much of a difference having to use a different mag for the sidearm as just about every other comparable sport as well as real steel operation has that same issue to varying degrees. I will say however, as the guy that built Drac's and followed the given instructions as best I could, there is room for refinement and improvement. I have build other blasters that have tight tolerance requirements and none were as egregious as this one. He does include 3 different tolerance options as well as a tolerance gauge, but even after beginning with that process it was still a bear to get it to fit. I can go into the details of why that is the case, but in the end all it means is that it requires just a little more tuning before it is truly a sidearm for the masses.
Most people don't know the M240B can run from belts or STANAG/GI mags. Cross compatibility isn't expected, but it is the future.
I should be getting my blaster design to Drac sometime this month, if Lynx is a 1 on 3D print complexity, mine should be a 0!
I can't wait to see how far 3d printed blasters go once crabon printers become more mainstream
Finally, a grip mag fed pistol
Finally
Shame you can't buy them completed
Pigeon? Woozi?
@@alexmarin8727 flywheel is good, but spring doesn't need to rev
Pidgeon, woozi, flypoint:
Am I a joke to you?
I really like this blaster! It looks super compact and practical and I really like the aesthetics. Thanks for showing it off! 💜🧡💛
Absolutely love this design, I'd probably have to get better at building printed blasters. I've said this previously when talking about this blaster, but I think a longer barreled variant could do some good to fix a few things. This primarily comes from the fact the spring appears to be a little over compressed, it would also allow for there to be more of your non black primary color. That of course would require people to not print the primary as not black, but It would certainly be a step in the right direction. As far as what It may be based on... if I had to guess I'd guess it's something from the H&K family. This is mostly coming from the mag release/grip design language. Off the top of my head I may assume it was modeled after the H&K USP .45 tactical variant. However that's just my first guess. It realistically could draw from any number of firearms, or be an entirely unique design. All in all I'm very excited to see what the future does for the platform as a whole.
That see through slide looks awesome. Well done.
5:50 welp, this was going to be my first nerf build ever (including mods)
It's a cool looking blaster but definitely not beginner friendly. You should try modifying a Stryfe or Retaliator for your first build!
Glad Jinx is feeling better!
Im wondering, it's obvious that you cant just run around with something like the DZP mk2 or the Zinc bc they look like firearms. But this type of design is just the optimal/proven design for ergonomics, carrying, etc. So what would a very well designed, compact and ergonomic sidearm look like
I run around with a real Walther PPQm2 in .45. Nothing illegal about that, especially when you have a CCW.
However, this blaster is imitation, not tried and true engineering. The iconic 1911 silhouette was based around a propellant based cartridge, not air-plungers. As such, I suspect there are much more ergonomic, compact and functional designs that wouldn't look like a real firearm.
I'm all for teaching the public that open carry is not something to be afraid of, but I do agree if I run around a corner with a real looking gun high and ready to fire, I can't blame a cop for popping me in the head. :p
This or the DZP MK2 in bright colors. We’ve long had blasters like the Retaliator or the Sidestrike without issues; the fear of these new blasters is overhyped.
@@DaikaijuProductions I say just give it a big dumb suppressor or make it all bright bright orange. I agree that the concern is a little overblown
Hey Jinx, glad to hear you are doing better. Drac, thanks for the honest review, its just one of the reasons I come to your channel.
I remember the very first video of LordDradical he never showed his face but hey the new videos we get to see how really a nice guy he is 👍
I super love all the new springer sidearms we’re getting right now. We got the zinc, the gecko, and slug just teased a new mag fed sidearm. Makes me happy :)
Oooo. Any vids of the slug blaster being teased?
I'd take a DZP MK2 over this any day. It's cool but when you bear in mind that with so much as a spacer the MK2 hits 180 consistently, how much the DZP comes with and with the build quality, not to mention the ridiculous trigger pull and priming effort with a heavier spring in the zinc.
I'm diggin it. i think they should offer a transparent orange plunger tube standard, as to allow for custom colors but to keep people safe.
Not sure why you'd be against its use in HvZ or similar, provided you actually print it in a bright color (since there is only really one 'main' color). The entire top is also completely clear.
Overall, what its really missing is the same T-handle everyone mods into other smaller blasters. So far the other major complaint is the prime, which seems like it could've been solved with something to actually grab onto. Guess he didn't want to hurt the aesthetic.
Great video, I'm glad that Jinx is feeling better
so basically, an actual firearm?
mom buy me more filament
I just modded my first blaster yesterday (firestrike air restricter) and now I’m so exited to get into the hobby 😁😁😁
Sweet ! Now go over to Captain Xavier's channel and check out his video about how to brass a firestrike ! ;)
@@Steampuke I watched part of that to take the air restricter out lol now I just need some brass
You could mod the slide to move forward by adding a slide spring and a lock and taking inspiration from real steel
I prototype in Health and Safety yellow, the irony is not lost on me.
my cat peaches is happy for jinx is feeling better
This got to be the very best springer pistoly out there
Looks like a hand held foam blasting pinball plunger.
Great video. I like it but I’m not so much into blasters that look like firearms, I totally understand that that’s pretty much the most efficient form factor for a sidearm though so it’s still sweet. Keep up the great work.
I think you could get pretty small with a direct rubber band drive. Rubber bands are capable of 200 fps+
Remember blaster tag not dart tag that would give Nerf to much credit
A slide release would be sick, I am also thinking it has a simular feel to some type of Destiny 2 sidearm.
Informative review as always! Would you review the Zinc 2.0?
Also, mention again, for a pistol type magazine, this is the best, and it has the magazine catch on the front, makes ir a wold easier to make an ergonomic mag release for a pistol, and it’s angled... this should be the standard for nerf pistol mags going forward. And I’ll kid you not, talons I consider an SMG type magazine. Also, the magazine is surprisingly slimer then talons by the look of this video, which is great!!
I think it’s a sweet blaster. I would like it in yellow and black as you suggested. My talon claw and FDL are printed in those colors and soon my Payara.
I wanted to join MI6 but alas I am only a piece of bread
the 90s are alive in the Zinc
I like this but I think I might pick up the gecko instead
What are you talking about drac? I just woke up
I wonder if the pistol being built tonight is the Gecko.
Tonight ? When ?
@@Steampuke He said it at the end of the video . 10 EST

I don't know what all the group things drac talks about are, pla, I just watch the video for the blaster
I like .45 acps I might have to get a zinc if it feels like a 45
I'm pretty sure there is a custom machined piece for the plunger head catch. I remember looking at these and being blow away by the guide rod going through the plunger head.
Yeah there is, Drac just forgot about it.
This is nice
You need to make a best compact pistol video
This thing gives me big beretta M9 vibes, and I really like the look of it
There's always a comment comparing 3D printed blasters to firearms that they don't really resemble.
Out of anything, the frame moreso resembles a HK P30 or HK45, but only a little. It definitely isn't close to one specific pistol.
its about time
Nice alternative to MK2, but does need bright tip.
I want this blaster so bad.
finally a mag fed pistol!
Can you please make a video to help us choose our first 3d printed blaster to make I just got a printer and dont know what to start with.
Hay Drac, Freeze here from the Texas rival league.
I don't think the blaster is the only issue of playing in public. I think the issue is how you dress, your load out. I wear almost all white, White Vest, white shorts, white paintball mask ect.. Whatever isn't white is blue. I don't dress like I'm on a SWAT team or heading into real world combat. Also I try to pay with bright blasters.
5 veiws 2 comments 20 likes? that doesnt chack out right
Please do a review on the worker cheetah with the short dart kit
I like to call blasters like this inverse plunger
If James Bond had a nerf blaster.
Nice looking blaster. I personally am just not ready to embrace half darts yet. If Hyper turns out to be bunk, then maybe, but otherwise I might just stick to Rival for anything 'performance' based
You can always try out the Aeon Pro if you just want to dabble with half-darts. Even though it's mag-fed, you can actually top-load it like a Kronos (Drac did this in his review video), so technically, extra mags aren't necessary. Also, it's fairly cheap.
@@user-dn4jd2rx2x How do you know what darts I run?
what do you mean drac on every poll Foam Flinging has won unless i missed a couple
I got a James Bond add before this video
The design reminds me of the Belgium FN 1900 0.32cal.
I believe there is a machined part, but i'm too lazy to check
Does the magazine drop free/able to be removed when the bolt is forward without bending any plastic?
Unfortunately it doesn't, and the magazines and pusher are designed in such a way that would prevent an easy version of this feature
@@nickvencill7752 thank you
Mk2 on steroids??
Not really still has similar performance. But ergo is better most likely. Luke from Out of Darts talks a little bit about mk 2 vs zinc
@@ancilmarcantel6060 I will watch it right now
look cool, but you have to pump every time you need to fire.
Wait there's a discord, does anyone have the link?

Do they sell a assembled one? I don’t have a 3D printer but I need one in my life
Need a zinc in my life
Als a german post apocalyptic harper I just started salivating.
Nerf and other blasters company should have more ready made blasters that looks like this!
Nerf probably will never do that, because Big Gun = Excuse to charge more money.
Dart Zone tried to do it with the Mk2, but they just weren't as clever as the person who created this Zinc pistol. Even within the Nerf modding community, this is the first time anybody managed to make a mag-fed pistol this compact.

I saw this on Reddit!
I was considering getting the Zinc hardware kit but there is no way I'd be able to print one within tolerance in PETG. How high would you rate the foam knight in terms of print difficulty?
You can always ask around and try a weaker spring if you want to print with something else other than PETG. Not a 3D printing expert, but it should work.
