This episode was true to original Babish form in more ways than you might imagine: I filmed it Sunday during the second big snowstorm here in NYC, and was originally going for Clemenza’s sauce from The Godfather. When I realized I had no red wine, and couldn’t get any due to the storm, I decided to breeze through the sauce recipe and pivot to Pizza in a Cup when I found I had the ingredients on hand. Yesterday morning, when I went downstairs to start editing the project, I discovered the heat was broken (again). I waited as long as I could for my two space heaters to bring up the temperature above 50F, and worked late to finish everything at the last minute. It was just like the good ole days, and despite it being occasionally frustrating/challenging/uncomfortable, I loved every minute of it. Thanks for celebrating my anniversary with me!

My mom used to make slow cooker pizza (which for those of you who don't know is essentially pasta that's made in a slow cooker and tastes like pizza). There's not really anything that'd qualify as dough in the recipe, but since it's a pasta it'd work much better in a cup than just shoving a pizza in a cup.

RUclips's been around for more than 15 years.
One option would be to cut out a cup-diameter section of that focaccia, put it in the cup, and then top with the meatball marinara and cheese.(then possibly bake to melt the cheese). Congrats on 5 years!

Oh here's an idea how it could be made, make it more like a Calzone.
Make the dough and line the "cup" with it, fill that with the toppings, fold over the top and sprinkle some cheese on top of that, then "bake" it until done.
A dough that bakes a bit fluffier would likely work well for that as it puffs up a bit and also doesn't give you just a flood of toppings.
EDIT: Another idea for it, make the dough pre-baked but still a bit soft, then layer it in a cup dough-toppings-dough-topping until full, then bake it a little more until done
Y'know. coming back to this and thinking about pizza in a cup. That middle one for the thumbnail did give me an idea of like. layering it in the mug like a lasagna. layer of 'dough', layer of sauce and cheese, rinse and repeat. That or like.. lining the cup with dough, filling with sauce, cheese, pepperoni etc. and folding over top like a thin dome of pizza crust to break into and mix with the rest as you eat it.

Something we did that was a little like this was we would take little dough balls put it in a cupcake tray and let them rise, afterwards we would shape it into a cup where we would put sauce, cheese and pepperoni before cooking
