    Just picked up a 2022 Jetta GLI and I really do love it. I came from a 2014 BMW X6 in search of better gas mileage and maintenance and I’m super impressed. The only gripe I have is not having a heated steering wheel due to chip shortages. Looking forward to the years and mods to come!

    • @Sleepygarage
      @Sleepygarage  2 года назад +3

      Congrats on the car! It’s such a killer package for sub 30k you’ll forget about the heated wheel lol

    • @marck4330

      2022 are currently available only in Autobahn configuration. Buying a new GLI in 2022 set me back $34k plus TTL which was a good deal in the current car market. Still happy with my experience. No sub $30k deals unless you buy used.

      Congrats on the new car. I got 27k on mine and the only issue I had with the car was that the stock tires need improvement but that’s nothing :-)

      I got my GLI in 2020 before covid. They told me it doesn't have a heated steering wheel because its the GLI steering wheel. The regular jetta came with a heated wheel.

      I got my 2022 vw jetta gli in July and I love it. Previously I owned a BMW and it is because I could not get a new BMW I switched to VW. The BMW dealers are out of new vehicles and had only demos.

    Fun fact...the OEM brake pads on the GLI are actually the ones used on the Golf R, which are both larger than the pads that are found on the 7.5 GTI. It's only on the Perf. Pack GTI that you get the same size pads. Just thought I'd throw that in there....and now you know.

    • @Sleepygarage
      @Sleepygarage  2 года назад +3

      And that is 100% factual. The only difference is that the rear rotors are the same as the non performance pack GTIs which had me very confused when I did my brakes in the past.

    The reason(s) this vehicle appeals to me.
    1. Price isn't atrocious
    2. I prefer sedans to crossovers and SUV's

    I've had my 2020 GLI S for over a year and highway I've gotten 42.5 MPG in eco mode doing 70-75 on cruise control. Everything is completely stock. Even if I had the money I don't think stage 2 is for me. I cannot stand obnoxious exhaust systems. That said, from what your mic picks up, yours isn't annoying like a honda trying to emulate a lawn mower.

    Great video. Total VAG noob here. I am a Subaru guy and currently have a 2020 wrx. But looking for a bit better interior and tech and I realized 2022 GLI looks a great deal considering the price. I like Elantra N but I feel like I am a bit old for it 😃 GLI is more mature while still having fun factor. Do you know what is new in 2022 GLI? Is it a significant refresh? If I get one, it would be manual. Can manual transmission and stock clutch handle increased power too? Thanks.

    • @Sleepygarage
      @Sleepygarage  2 года назад +1

      Haha yeah the N is a really good car but different league and less mature for sure! The 22 GLI is just a refresh, some mild changes to the looks, steering wheel, seat color, slightly louder exhaust, but everything else is pretty much the same but they may have rounded out a lot of issues in the new facelift like the rattles. Manual GLI with stock clutch you can definitely still push like a stage 2 but After that you might need a better clutch but the trans itself should be more than enough.

    • @TheMlvswoll
      @TheMlvswoll 2 года назад +2

      @@Sleepygarage as stated the 2022 is a mild refresh. Over the earlier 18,20 model they have gone to USBC ports and added wireless CarPlay and android auto. I would caution against aggressive tunes with the oem clutch on a manual. It will likely need an upgrade after a short while. I have a 2020 as my Mk7.5 GTI was totaled and the mk8 wasn’t out yet. I am currently EQT stage 1 with full bolt ons and I will say I enjoy the GLI more than I thought I would.

      I had a 2011 wrx hatch, a 2015 accord v6 coupe, 2016 wrx, 2005 acura tl, 2006 Jetta GLI and now a 2020 GLI - all in the last 6 years. I’ve got to say that the GLI (MK7) is my favorite. You have to go DSG, it’s honestly the better option, it’s faster and just as fun and you don’t have to upgrade the clutch. If you go manual you have to upgrade the clutch just like the si if you mod it. If you haven’t made the jump yet, jump in!

    I bought the 2019 model and i will never forgive vw for leaving dynamic chasis control out until 2020... the car is sooo uncomfortable driving any longer then 20 minutes. As much as i love the car that alone combined with the rattles that get worse over time just ruin it.

    • @Sleepygarage
      @Sleepygarage  Год назад +1

      Haha yeah without dcc I heard it’s on the stiffer side and the rattles is what bothered me most, poor build quality for the 2019 model

      @@dailydrivensedans4875 yeah I’m in a GLI group in Toronto and it’s consistent that all the 19 GLIs have a shit ton of rattles form the trunk to he sunroof to the passenger door, 2020 they fixed most of the rattles and now the newer 7.5 GLI it’s way more solid, they really just rushed the 19 GLI out with no quality control and fixed it later on

    Great video! I’m considering getting a GLI. Can you please the exact model and part numbers of the turbo/intercooler, as well as the sway bar and dog-bone upgrades. I’m not going anywhere near stage 2, but I do want a little more engagement in my daily driver. Any issues with carbon deposits and other reliability concerns with the stock car and then after the upgrades?
    Thank you!
