I always say 'The Head on the Door' is the perfect place for casual or non-fans to start . It literally has every style of music they are good at - moody atmospheric songs, pure dance pop, quirky synth stuff, a few pretty hard rocking songs, and this classic jangle pop single - and every single one of the songs are perfect.
I so totally agree. THOTHD was also my first Cure album. I was 10 when this song came out in 1985. When I saw the video, I told myself, "I wanna be just like them."
This is probably my all time favorite song from The Cure. They have so many great songs though. Love that you mentioned Gene Loves Jezabel they'd make for some cool reactions. Back to The Cure though I think Plainsong is probably their most epic song.
You got the coolest dad in the world kid .... I say that cause we basically have the same taste of music... Gene love's Jezebel is one of my favorite band also. Cheers from Philippines!
The darker stuff IMO would be A Forest, Never Enough, Lullaby. The Cure is never stale and always satisfying! Thank you for these reactions. For more edgy, dark alternative from the '80s please try Psychedelic Furs: Sister Europe, Sleep Comes Down, All of This And Nothing, All That Money Wants. Siouxsie and the Banshees: Cities in Dust, Peekaboo, Happy House, etc.
all of this and nothing, beautifull song, and my time(same band) too, please try too, the chamaleons: as high as you can go, monkeyland and second skin, great and obscure songs
Also I love the fact that when the Cure were introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame none other then Trent Reznor Inducted him and it's amazing!
Oh, you know they have tons of dark stuff, whether it be from Seventeen Seconds, Pornography, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Disintegration, etc.... I would suggest The Figurehead, All Cats are Grey, Faith, One Hundred Years, Sinking, The Kiss, If Only Tonight We Could Sleep, Plainsong, Lullaby, Fascination Street, Prayers for Rain, The Edge of the Deep Green Sea... I could go on forever :)
I think "alternative" is a bit of a broad term for bands like New Order and The Cure. I mean, sure, they were alternative. But more so they were New Wave, Post Punk and Gothic Rock. At least that's how I would categorize them. That being said, The Cure kind of escapes all labels. Which is one of the things I love about them most. I'd recommend for you to show Ty some of their darker stuff next: A Forest, Disintegration (maybe later), Pictures of You, Lullaby, A Letter to Elise, etc.
Your right 🇬🇧 the Cure are in their own category. Yes can’t wait to go darker with some Cure stuff. “Primary” “fascination street” “picture of you” or maybe even “The Kiss” (87)
@@reactionextraction Oh yeah, Primary is still very groovy. Dark, but groovy. Faith is one of my favorite albums of theirs tbh. The Kiss is probably the darkest one out of the ones you've mentioned. So twisted, but also kinda hot in a way? Love it.
This is one of theirs that makes me both weepy at how pretty it is while also bopping around dancing to it…. Ooooo, going darker next time. I’m gonna be curious to see what you pick!
We are going darker next time, much more to come from them for sure & so many great songs to chose , but I though “ the kiss” would be a cool 😎 edgier vibe to show Ty 👍🏼
"Cure" моя любимая группа, да их и немного! Слушаю все их альбомы с юности, напеваю, помню наизусть 😌❗(но не пишу Вам на английском, не решаюсь🤭..) Прекрасно, что его голос, пение прекрасено сохранились, ищу и смотрю с удовольствием их концерты !
I once loved this song 100's of years ago(feels like it) 😁Still sounds great 😁 since dad mentioned Gene loves Jezebel ill suggest "The Motion of love" by them ☺
Alternative in the UK really meant 'Indie' = cure, Jesus and Marychain, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cocteau Twins. Try the Cocteau Twins 'Carolyn's fingers'. You'll be surprised.
Jesus & Mary Chain, Echo & Bunnymen were suprisingly popular amongst my friends here in America ... we spent a lot of time dubbing each others copies of their albums on cassette back in the 80's for sure ! 😎😎
I only remember “Fridays I’m in love” (don’t even know if that’s the title) and “Lullaby” from MTV back in the day, but I don’t like spiders so I listened and didn’t watch 🤣 I liked their style but never bought an album.
“Pictures of You” is a little darker and “Lullaby” is much darker & the video is down right creepy. 😁 Robert Smith wrote it based on a nightmare he had.

To me it’s a perfect album, especially for an alternative band in 1985, took them to the next level 😎
I so totally agree. THOTHD was also my first Cure album. I was 10 when this song came out in 1985. When I saw the video, I told myself, "I wanna be just like them."
Great song, great band. So many great songs. My favourite has always been Close to Me from the same album.
I had to choose between the 2 songs & “in-between days” won the coin flip, ha. So much more to cover from the Cure 🇬🇧. Long long long career!
After watching the video for Close to Me, I always found myself playing in the closet pretending to be Robert Smith.
Love The Cure and this song. You should play one of the darker ones next like The Forest.
Yes We will get darker with the Cure, time to show Ty some alternative variety 👍🏼
This is probably my all time favorite song from The Cure. They have so many great songs though. Love that you mentioned Gene Loves Jezabel they'd make for some cool reactions. Back to The Cure though I think Plainsong is probably their most epic song.
It’s hard to pick songs for the cure 🇬🇧. Such a long long career !! Thinking about covering “Desire” from Gene Loves Jezebel soon 👍🏼

Darker Cure on the way, I think “ the kiss” will catch Ty’s attention 4 sure. Psych Furs are on the list ! 😎
@@reactionextraction the live performance of The Kiss from Trilogy was pretty epic.
all of this and nothing, beautifull song, and my time(same band) too, please try too, the chamaleons: as high as you can go, monkeyland and second skin, great and obscure songs
I went to one of their concerts and they were fantastic.
Yes, darker music! The Figurehead, The Cure 🙌🏽
I loved that song!! That song is my jam & my favorite!!
My other favorite cure songs -
* Just Like Heaven.
* Friday I'm In Love.
Love this song and the Cure! Always great!
Also I love the fact that when the Cure were introduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame none other then Trent Reznor Inducted him and it's amazing!
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great reaction, I am enjoying the the journey your bringing Ty on. Pictures of You from the Disintegration album would be a great one to try!
You ever have a song or a piece of art speak to you, and what was once hard to see becomes crystal clear?!..
Yeah..
The Cure really was The Cure for me, they save me by a suicide..!
Oh, you know they have tons of dark stuff, whether it be from Seventeen Seconds, Pornography, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Disintegration, etc.... Thx cool suggestions 😎 Such a long career & lots of darker 🇬🇧Cure for us to cover! I always liked “I Dig You” (1980).

@@reactionextraction Oh that'd be an interesting one, for sure!
I liked, a Forest from the Cure in Orange.
Great song live great concert upfront and center when first started
Niiice 💯
Niiice 💯
I actually saw them on the tour for this album in 1985. Great and unique band!
Now that's Rad, getting to see a band in their prime 😎😎
The Cure are one of those bands where their videos are just as iconic as the music. Robert Smith's collaboration with Tim Pope was perfect!
The Cure sure did have amazing visuals for the time period 💯
Totally 1st time you ever heard it
"Cure" моя любимая группа, да их и немного!

Sounds like you are a really big 🇬🇧Cure fan! We will do much more from them on the show. Robert Smith is one of my all time favorite singers !!
Very underrated record. Maybe the 2nd best imho. Sinking!!
I always go back to The Cure...I've got Shake Dog Shake on repeat at the mo.
True Dat, the cure never get old……legends 💯
Shake Dog Shake, live version… its just the TOP 😂 of all songs, pun intended
I once loved this song 100's of years ago(feels like it) 😁Still sounds great 😁 since dad mentioned Gene loves Jezebel ill suggest "The Motion of love" by them ☺
Probably the best song of the 80s
You should react to “Close to Me” if you have not already. The best The Cure song in my opinion.
Try Lullaby! Its one of their most famous songs!
Alternative in the UK really meant 'Indie' = cure, Jesus and Marychain, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Cocteau Twins.
Try the Cocteau Twins 'Carolyn's fingers'. You'll be surprised.

fantastische musik

Lullaby is one of their best vids.....OK, it's a bit terrifying LOL!
Give the band a try, long long career & the very definition of “alternative”
dang, I forgot how good this song was.
It's a testament to the band that this famous pop song of theirs, like many of their "hits", is like not really their best work.
Agreed 😎
“Pictures of You” is a little darker and “Lullaby” is much darker & the video is down right creepy. 😁 Robert Smith wrote it based on a nightmare he had.
Killing An Arab is an amazing track by The Cure
Anything off the Pornography album would be darker. But that rocking intro to The Kiss would probably get him going.
“The kiss” is gonna be next. See what Ty thinks 😎🤩
The next one must be The Smiths …. Darker and darker
“How soon is now?” 🇬🇧👍🏼
You guys should try to do some Greta Van Fleet! If you like more classic rock I would recommend a song from their from the fires album
Great suggestion for sure……
Please react to Tom Waits - Clap Hands
A Forest
Old school tune 😎
