Tracey Thorn has one of the most beautiful voices that I've heard. Thanks Steve for playing Everything But the Girl at Graphique de France in Boston in the late 80's. I have fallen in love with thar voice. She's sp amazing!!!!!!!!!
The most popular song of EBTG here in our country (Philippines) is Cross my heart, covered by several local artists. Though it doesn't have an official video, hoping you'll post a live performance of it. It's also a prom anthem of our generation.
Absolutely true, Still don't understand why their fans accusing them as sellout during "Idlewild" and "Language of Life" and then we gonna see comment like "we miss these sound, they don't make music like this anymoreeeeeeeeeeeeee" 😑 At least sound like this still alive and well, Rapallo "Merger" was a very good choice.
More years ago than I will admit in public, I remember listening to this album over and over because I couldn't sleep, and the love/infatuation was well and truly done. This, and "Apron Strings," and plenty of Bonnie Raitt "I Can't Make You Love Me."
I'd recognize Tracey Thorne's voice anywhere. She has that unique timbre in her voice that is both soothing and soulful. I'd put her up there with Nina Simone, Karen Carpenter, Tina Turner, Ann Wilson and Kim Carnes in terms of my list of singers with uniquely recognizable voice.
I always wonder why Everything but the Girl could write the lyrics that described the truth of love and life at such young age. My guess is that maybe Tracy and Ben met each other and came to know what true love was all about...how about that ? No, maybe some people know everything from the very beginning.
I also agree that it is amazing that such a young couple could write about love so movingly. It is wonderful that they are still together. Brilliant comment KBK.
On the last part. It would be funnier if this lines was loop around 1 hour Ben: That's not the way love is Tracy: Love is here where I live Ben: That's not the way love is Tracy: Love is here where I live Ben: That's not the way love is Tracy: Love is here where I live (Repeat 1 Hour) Ben: Ok Ok. Tracy, I give up 😂
Therefore you have good taste. Swing Out, EBTG, Style Council, Hue and Cry, Matt Bianco, Curiousity Killed the Cat. Great 80s pop/jazz.I've never seen this video before, but I did see them live back then. Exceptional.
Oh man, yes. So welcome was their sound, pulling us out of the plastic 80's drum machine synthesizer doldrums.... Let there be congas and percussion, let there be horns!!!!
Sorry you feel that way pal because it sure touches me deeply as does the whole album. Perhaps it will grow on you. I hope this little message finds you well.
This song takes me to a very happy place. It's like a hug on a sunday morning.
Her voice is soo freaking beautiful and calming. I keep coming back to this song. I can't hit the thumbs up button enough.
This is a song that only they can make. Perfect, mad respect.
"It won't last". First heard this on the car radio in Florida. Late for a date. I've loved this ever since.
"That's not the way love is
love is here where I live" ❤️
EBTG ALWAYS

The Black & White taping is excellent and it is so good to see Ben before his health crisis

Very very much cool and classy From Detroit with Love
A gift from our Heavenly Father, surely. Loop.
My guardian angels are the most treasured ones in my world . Three . I love them so.
I wish they would do an album like this again!!!
they wont, wouldn't be fashionable and it wouldn't sell, be to much of a risk
@@MephProductionI'd buy it.

Love your music guys since I've heard EBTG for the first time in 1991 in a student hostel in Pyatigorsk, Russia ;)
I just heard this song yesterday. Guess it was not a single in the USA. Loooooooove it!
Wow! I've loved this song for a long time. Never seen the video until now. Very good! I love Everything But The Girl!

Over & over again...listening: Lovely.

Both TracyThorne and Morrissey have classic class III occlusion.
I wonder if this is what makes their vocals so good.
Had class 3 occusion, my voice is nowhere near these legends 😅
Absolutely gorgeous.
y like the back up vocal with full of jazz blended to a smooth music
Grandísima canción !!!!
i love how she went from indie pop in Marine Girls, to Jangle pop with EBTG to straight up rnb yessss
don't forget about trip hop/downtempo/dnb/deep house of Walking Wounded and Temperamental!
@@ezojanek trueeee
and then onto folkpop, mellow indie and then straight up triphop/house. Her later solo stuff is great too, as is Ben's.

Agreed, I've always been struck by how a couple in their early 20s could compose lyrics so pointed and so mature. I'm just glad they did.
I also agree that it is amazing that such a young couple could write about love so movingly. It is wonderful that they are still together. Brilliant comment KBK.
♥️♥️♥️
EBTG🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤❤❤

This song and Cross my Heart. Had huge crush with Tracey Thorn and that other girl Aimee Mann.
They are like an old version of The XX

They kinda remind me of Swing Out Sister. Therefore I love this music.

@@jmichtate It had a term - Sophisti-pop, and yeah it was a great movement.
@@jmichtate Don't forget Sade!
Or Swing Out Sister reminds you of EBTG - who were putting out tunes like this for many years before... :)
Nice voice very similar to corrine drewery.
That is not mercenary. All right.
Not one of their best, this song doesn’t really go anywhere.
It goes home, where love is
