  • - Is Johnson City Tennessee a good place to live? People from out of state are beginning to move to northeast TN, partly due to the runup in prices in the Nashville and surrounding areas that make them less attractive. Johnson City, Kingsport, and our hometown of Bristol make up the "Tri-cities" and are becoming a better alternative to some people.

    Thanks for the video on the tri-cities. This will help us decide where the best place is for when we move, which hopefully will be next month.
    Thank you,

    Depends on if you remember Johnson City of the past or if you are from Chicago or NYC. It's too crowded now and getting worse by the day.

    Are there any gun clubs and ranges in the tri-city area? I like to do everything from rifle, pistol, to sporting clays and skeet with shotguns.

      I'm sure you've Googled this. The only one I've been to personally is Kettlefoot Rod & Gun Club, which is in Bristol, VA. I'm betting there are others around but I just don't know them.

    Would it surprise you to learn that there are cities and towns in Canada that enjoy much milder winters than Johnson City, Tennessee?

    • @TNVAHomeTeam
      @TNVAHomeTeam  2 года назад +2

      100%

    • @mathematicaleconomist4943
      @mathematicaleconomist4943 2 года назад

      @@TNVAHomeTeam Google Search the following (and compare). Take note especially how much warmer the nights are during the winter months (January and February!). The averages will directly "pop up" on the very top of the first page of Google...
      1. Johnson City, Tennessee average January temperatures.
      2. Port Renfrew, Canada average January temperatures.
      3. Victoria, Canada average January temperatures.

    • @mathematicaleconomist4943
      @mathematicaleconomist4943 2 года назад

      @@TNVAHomeTeam It would be easiest to simply copy/paste all 3 searches into the Google search engine (one at a time, of course!).

    • @thomassmith7214
      @thomassmith7214 2 года назад +1

      @@mathematicaleconomist4943 I looked it up and Port Renfrew is actually colder than Johnson City during the afternoons in winter. Only at night is it warmer.

    • @mathematicaleconomist4943
      @mathematicaleconomist4943 2 года назад

      @@thomassmith7214 Dec, Jan, and Feb. Add up all 6 night and day temperatures. Divide by 6. Port Renfrew averages a few degrees warmer (the meteorological definition of a warmer winter). The reason it is defined that way is because it stays milder for longer (many more hours each winter day). So it will be warmer throughout the morning and evening hours (and, of course, overnight). Johnson City peaks slightly higher during a brief period at the peak of the day. So, you will actually feel the sensation of a milder winter (overall) in Port Renfrew. The overall average winter temperature in Johnson City is something like 40 degrees (in Port Renfrew, it's something like mid-40s).

      I'm not sure. I know there's a Korean church in Bristol but I don't know about Johnson City. There's a very good Korean restaurant in Elizabethton & I know the owner is Korean. You might give her a call & see what she says about the area. The name of the restaurant is Red Chili. Hope this helps!

    I just looked up home prices and they some of the most expensive I have seen. New average size homes at over $270 a sq ft. I can live cheaper in Colorado lol Did prices just sky rocket or what?

    • @TNVAHomeTeam
      @TNVAHomeTeam  Год назад

      They're up maybe 30% in places over the last 2 years. But the median sales price in parts of town is $170k while others are $279k. Very location specific. Jonesboro is the most expensive area, most of the sales are new construction which is running sometimes $270/sq. ft like you mention.
      I just pulled all of the Johnson City active listings b/t $200k and $400k, median list price/sq. ft is $172. For new construction this jumps to $205/sq. ft. Some of the new construction not yet in the MLS though has jumped to the mid to upper $200's/ sq ft.
