We've never visited Johnson City; the closest my wife and I came was driving I-40 between Knoxville and Asheville. We were struck by the landscape and the similarity to where we live on the north face of the Olympic National Park in WA state. In fact, I remember that stretch of I-40 being every bit as "sporty" as the mountain passes through the Cascades and just as beautiful. At the time we talked about that area as a refuge if ever the crazies escape confinement to Seattle. Funny how prescient that conversation was 10 years ago.
Generally speaking how is safety? All those online city/neighborhood stats aggregator sites have me worried making it seem like one of the most dangerous cities... that and Kingsport. Would love to get your take on general safety. Me and my wife have a two year old and are planning to move from upstate New York.
I have to be careful with this question because as a licensed agent, I'm not allowed to steer anyone to or away from a place. In general, I feel safe here. I would not live here if I didn't feel my family was safe. I know things happen here sometimes, just like they do in all places. And I've also looked at those websites that show crime numbers for cities...I definitely question those websites and wonder how reliable they are.
@@justsayin6795 Listening to more Republican propaganda, are you? Canada is a fundamentally capitalist country that uses a small part of the wealth generated via its capitalist economy to fund universal healthcare and admittedly more social programs than the USA (but certainly not more than most of Europe!). It's the kind of socioeconomic planning that helps its society to be immunized from the outrageous levels of social unrest found throughout the 'wonderful' USA.
My wife and I drove down from upstate NY to check out North East Tennessee. Compared to NY and Penn, your roads were great! Back roads were a little narrow, no shoulders-or guardrails 😳, but in great shape. We loved it!

@@tiffanywattsrealestateagent I understand, thank you so much for the information.
Did I ever tell you that there are cities and towns in Canada that enjoy much milder winters than Johnson City, Tennessee?
Yes, you have. 🙂
