Roy was in the five member band known as the Traveling Wilburys. Orbison, Harrison, Petty, Dylan and Lynn. Check out the Orbison lead vocal on the song "Not Alone" from that album. Pure vocal gold!
This song was produced by Jeff Lynne of ELO in 1987 but released after Roy's untimely death. In 1987, Jeff Lynne also produced the album Cloud 9 by George Harrison. Now you know how the Traveling Wilburys came together.

Just outstanding (as is this channel). Forget Spotify, I'll just listen to this! This song showcases Roy's incredible range. There are few who could surpass him (except Freddy of course). It's my second favourite Roy Orbison song (if you exclude the Traveling Wilburys "Handle With Care") - my favourite has to be "Everything You Want (You Got It)". I didn't know Jeff Lynne produced this song but it makes perfect sense. Tom Petty, George Harrison and Roy Orbison - such outstanding talents and sorely missed. As for ELO - come on Jay and Amber - review "Hold on Tight" (ruclips.net/video/UkekqVPIc2M/видео.html ) please!

Roy Orbison was considered to be one of the best singers who ever lived. There are so many Tunes that you need to hear. He was the master of expressing what it's like to have your heart broken. Only the Lonely, crying, it's over, Running Scared just too many to list. You can never go wrong with Roy orbison. Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to him on the first song of the Born to Run album, Thunder road, when he sang, "Roy Orbison sings for the lonely, hey that's me and I want you only." Later in his career, Bruce got to play with Roy which I can't even imagine what it was like for him. You can see it on the video of the concert film a black and white night, where so many of the great artists of the day joined him for a tribute concert.
Roy recorded this first but wasn't signed to a label at the time so it went unreleased until after his death, this song by Roy is one of the greatest songs ever

Love Roy Orbison!!! ❤ When there was a Tribute concert after his death, his widow requested KD Lang to sing "Crying". I would suggest you listen to this solo performance.
Roy was nearsighted, and used to just wear regular horn rim glasses like Buddy Holly, but as he was heading to a concert somewhere, and he was about to go on stage he realized he left his actual glasses on the bus, all he had was a pair of prescription sunglasses. He put those on, and it just so happened a newspaper photographer was there and took a couple of pictures, and when they appeared in the paper Roy's signature look was established!!

Ironically, this song was written for Roy, which he recorded the year before he died. It wasn't released until 1992, three years after the song was recorded and became a hit for Cyndi Lauper. Her version rocks too.

Elvis famously said that Roy Orbison was the most beautiful voice he ever heard. But much less known, Roys next door neighbor as a teenager made the same statement. His neighbor and child hood playmate was Johnny Cash. Let that sink in.
I wish that I can hit the like button on this more than once. As other people have stated, Roy recorded this first, but didn't immediately release it. Cyndi Lauper did a cover of it which he released and it was phenomenal. I remember when I first heard her version of it thinking that this sounded like something. I absolutely give her version my highest recommendation. She goes a different direction with it, and her vocals are kind of smokyy and ethereal. But she also hits those soaring notes that Roy did. You won't be disappointed.

My personal favourite of Roy's (and the Traveling Wilburys) was "Not Alone Anymore" which IMO never got the recognition it deserved. David Lynch made great use of Roy's "In Dreams" in "Blue Velvet" and Roy's "Black and White Night" film of a concert with a stellar group of performers not long before his untimely death is always a great watch.
You MUST watch/listen to the Cyndi Lauper version, to be honest I think it’s the best. Celine Dion covered it later as well. Roy wrote this song right before his death, and it was released posthumously around the same time the Cyndi Lauper version was, in the early 90s. Btw, that’s actor Jason Priestley (of Beverly Hills 90210) in the video.
Roy didn't write the song. "I Drove All Night" is a song written and composed by American songwriters Billy Steinberg and Tom Kelly and originally intended for Roy Orbison. Orbison recorded the song in 1987, the year before his death, but his version was not released until 1992. John Waite recorded the song in 1987 as well but decided not to release it. I know you love Cyndi Lauper. She did a kick butt cover of "I Drove All Night". You'll love the song & the video! He has a Traveling Wilbury's song with just him on vocals: "Not Alone Anymore", great song.
Roy was my radio preteen love...long long ago...then many years later I learned of his tragic life...but he continued to sing of love and longing through his whole life... So... How about a little Motown...the Temptations... 💥...I can't get next to you... Yep !...👍😉...🌿🌿🌿
OMG!!!!!!! I had no idea he was the original singer of this song. I was shocked to learn that Celine Dion wasn’t the original singer, learning that it was a Cyndi Lauper song, but had no clue Roy did it first. Apparently he recorded it in 1987 but it wasn’t released until 1992 and Cyndi released her version in 1989.
At the time of his death, Roy Orbison had just started working on a new album with Rick Rubin, the producer responsible for Johnny Cash's last albums that gave us Johnny's song "The Man Comes Around" and his cover of "Hurt." Those albums sparked a resurgence of interest and appreciation for Johnny Cash in the last years of his life, and Rubin most likely would have done the same for Roy Orbison. Tragically, Roy passed away before work on the album really began, leaving us all wondering what magic Rubin might have worked for Roy at the twilight of his life.
You really can't go wrong with Roy Orbison. Even Elvis Presley said Roy had the most perfect voice and was the greatest singer in the world. Jay and Amber, you will love "Crying", "Only the lonely" and "Blue Bayou" There are plenty of others but those are a good place to start. Amber, you are right in saying it was The Travelling Wilbury's.
It is Travelling Wilburys! Cyndi Lauper and K.D. Lang made this song popular with their covers, which are also very good. Please please check out more of Roy's songs: "Crying", "Only the Lonely", "Blue Bayou" (which Linda Ronstadt did an amazing cover of both in English and Spanish [Lago Azul], you should listen to that too), "Running Scared", "In Dreams", "You Got It".... That's Jason Priestley in the music video.
Roy Hamilton had some great songs in the early 60’s you can have her I don’t want her, cracking up over you .they called him golden voice back in the day .
Great story how Roy was on tour with the Stones in New Zealand. They were all around the pool sunbathing and Keith Richards said to Roy... 'Hey Roy, aren't you due on stage in 10 minutes?' Roy replied, 'I think you are right. He slowly got up and sauntered away. 10 minutes later he was suited and booted and on stage. In Richards Autobiography he said that Roy did that a lot and Keith couldn't figure out how.
Roy Orbison born 1936 wink Texas and died 1988 age of 52, normal person voice is at octave 1 Roy's at 3 like a opera singer and he wrote over 500 songs, he is in the Singer and songwriter Hall of Fame Rock and roll and country too!!
His greatest hits are permanently on my music mix. One of my favorite artists. Guy in the video is Jason Priestly. The girl is Jennifer Connolly. Both famous actors. He was indeed in the Traveling Wilburys.
Amber, good catch on the soaring voice over the driving beat. When he had his incredible run of early 60s hits, you will notice that his voice soars over a backbeat. It’s his sound.
I've said this before on other reaction videos to this song. The chemistry between Jason Priestley and Jennifer Connelly is absolutely ASTOUNDING in this video! If they didn't feel it themselves, this is some next-level acting going on here!
I enjoy your reactions. I'm 70years old and remember every song you've done. It does my heart good to see young'uns bopping to the oldies. I wish you would do some reactions to the band " The Warning". They are three sisters from Mexico who mostly sing in English. They have over 40 songs out and not one is bad . They do harg rock but like you've never heard it before. You will be amazed. Give them a try please. Any song.

Agreed. These two songs are must listen. Crying is his best, I think.

Agree, but also In Dreams
yes Crying for sure
Running scared and it's over both classics
Love this song, especially Roy’s version. If you read about Roy, you’ll learn he faced more than his share of tragedy. And was always a true gentleman

Kicking it old school. Alright! This guy was as smooth as silk no matter what he did.
'In Dreams' is one of his other greats! Although a certain scene in a David Lynch movie creeps into my mind once in a while!
Wild Hearts Run Out Of Time is my favorite Roy Robison song. Worth a listen!
Celine Dion does a great cover of this too. I love anything by Roy Orbison. Thank you!
My favourite Orbison songs are "Only The Lonely", "Blue Angel", and "In Dreams". Other great ones: "Crying", "It's Over", "Dream Baby".
Back in the early 60s a reporter asked Elvis how it felt to have one of the greatest voices. He replied "Ask Roy"
Good to know the new generations are hearing this kind of music by their own will and not by tendency
Now you need to hear Cindy lauper's cover... you can finally hear her range also... to sing this song properly you have to have incredible range
Great song and there is something special about these older songs which that were about love and told a story.❤👍
Crying is a must, and the incredible cover by K D Lang as well.
My favorite Roy O song. My dad always played this growing up so it reminds me of my childhood. Fantastic song
Crying and/or It's Over - You will love him even more!
Any song.
I love Roy Orbison!! Especially this song! Thank you guys for reacting to it!
If you haven't already, you should check out:
Only the Lonely

She's a mystery to me
Ooby Dooby

The pace and tone here (and HEAR!) I think this is his best!!
Great song great singer. Thanks jay and amber for you positivity
Crying..The vocals are incredible
Roy is one of my favorite voices! ❤❤
Only The Lonely, Crying, Blue Bayou, It's Over, Leah... Do yourselves (& us!) a BIG favor and start down the Roy O rabbit hole with these! They didn't call him The Voice in his day without reason. 💙💙💙
