Roy Orbison recorded the song in 1987, but his version wasn't released to radio or as a single to purchase until after his death in 1992. Most of us first heard this song on the radio when Cyndi Lauper recorded and released her hit version in 1989. (And then Celine had a dance cover version in 2003.)

I do not think it is humanly possible to not instantly adore this song.
Yes, it's the original. He did not write this song, but, the people who did write it said they specifically wanted Roy Orbison to sing it.

Roy has so many great songs
Great song great vocals got to up there with the best of all time . Class singer.
Could hold his own if placed with opera singers
I have a 3 CD set of Roy's songs but this one is not included, I love the song
