Thing is, it won't get driven, it'll be 'moth balled' in storage.
There is only something like just over 5k miles on it now, so it's not been driven or enjoyed so far.
Those are 'test miles' it has accumulated, the engine has probably not even been properly run in yet!

Hopefully it will be fully prepared into a weightless type storage chassis and then enveloped into a dry air conditioned bubble for the next decade. Then and only then will it be removed for its next auction, with a view to it reaching a million pounds…

WOW WOW WOW back in the late 80s i had a Sierra Cosworth 3 door not the RS500 but I loved mine beyond belief. I was 19 and blew best part of 20k and my first insurance premium was 672 UK pounds which back then was a fortune. Had to sell it it 89 as the insurance went crazy and it wasn't worth it. Best three years driving i ever had, more people looked at me as it was gorgeous. I got an invite to Skelmersdale Ford who were launching a Capri tickford and i parked next to it. bahahahhahahaha i couldn't get out the car as people were looking at my car not the Capri, then the manager asked me to park it round the back out the way so people would look at the Capri instead. Lets say my head was MASSIVE. I've always been a Ford man and always will be. For me, the 70's 80's and 90's were Fords days and they made some incredible cars. Ford need to bring back the Sierra Cosworth even as a special edition and Escort RS and Capri Brooklands and a few others and show the world that not everyone wants to be the same and standing out in the crowd is what Ford drivers want. I do any way. Long live Ford...

I know that inflation in the UK is just going bonkers but really, £530,000 (close to £600k Inc fees) for what is basically a sporty Ford Sierra that cost less than £20k new!
The last Sierra I bought at auction I paid £180 for but in the boot it came with a set of spare pepper pot alloys with good tyres, which I sold on for £150, so the car cost me just £30....😲😳😁

    • @stuartlambie5206

You forgot to mention you had to drive the sierra threw the holes on the floor with your feet like the flint stones

    • @pdtech4524
      @pdtech4524 Год назад +1

@@stuartlambie5206 It wasn't that bad, I seem to remember it was an early one, a 'y' reg so it would have been a 1983 year model car, I suspect it was more cortina than Sierra as the engine and gearbox looked much older, certainly the gearbox shifter was not stock Sierra.
I bought it around early 1990s, it was a step up from a Cortina for sure, bog standard family car, nothing special or note worthy, not as refined as my current daily driver, a 2006 Ford Focus estate 2.0 duratec in ghia trim that I paid £550 in 2017.
The Sierra was basically pants, it leaked around the rear hatch so the boot was persistently wet.
The cossie was basically just a sporty 3 door version, when I was an apprentice, many years ago, my manager bought a Sierra Cossie 2nd hand, had nothing but problems with it and eventually sold it on because it was awful and lumpy to drive around town, with no rear view due to the huge whale tail rear spoiler, he paid something like just £3.5k for it back then.
They're definitely not worth £600k, just think of all the exotic cars that could be had for much less.
I think the buyers bidding against each other got whipped up into a frenzy by the auctioneer, the sense of occasion and the 'I've got more money than you' show boating effect an auction of this calibre brings.
Definitely over paid by a huge margin what it's actually worth...the phrase 'more money than sense...', rings a bell. 😁
I remember when you could pick up such models as a mk1 and mk2 escorts for £150, I turned down a lovely xr3i for £500.....⚠️😳😲😁

I bought my beloved Alfasud Ti from a guy who worked for Reliant. I have no reason to disbelieve what he told me. First, they couldn’t shift them, so at Reliant they put Sierra dashboards in. Second, each one had to be exactly 200 miles. So it was his job to take them out on the Midlands motorway network late at night. Where apparently Traffic Police would give him a wave, and suggest he floor it! But third…he swore blind one hundred were shown in Essex, and then transported to the Midlands, for the same cars to be shown again. Legend has it there were not two hundred. So if someone did have a cosseted 5000 mile example, in theory, it’s worth more than the Sierra 😳

😂 yes it’s ridiculous but it’s nothing for wealthy people so no big deal. Is a Ferrari worth 25 million? Is a Van Gogh worth 20 million? Rich people like to have the best and show off and get richer. It’s all pointless really - it’s meaningless - but that’s life. Ford are cool though when you look at their racing and rallying history / heritage. I remember the Soper and Rouse cars and the lads in our town having them back in the day when they were cheap. It’s weird now seeing the values but nothing surprises me anymore. Yes I’d love one but I’d also love a woman who doesn’t lie and cheat. Fat chance

Oh come on, he did the seller the best he could which is his job. Extract the maximum out the punter why you can. Also, they work on commission so they will earn a good few quid. Imagine if it was your car, you'd go mental if he put the hammer down at 180k when he could have got more.
