This is just a painful reminder of how awesome it would have been to have the real Captain Mar-Vell in the MCU
Right? I hate how I've powered she was. The fight wasn't even fair because if this woke shit. The fight would have been more even and exciting rather then the crap we saw.

Captain Marvel would of been ten times better if they followed the comics and had Marvell as himself instead of an old lady
They should have just gender-swapped Mar-Vell and made her the protagonist. They did it anyhow except they made her a supporting character. (This is just me speaking as someone who has never been a big Carol Danvers fan, I'm Mar-Vell all the way.)
I couldn't agree more. This was my favorite story arc. I was deeply disappointed when the MCU decided to go with Danvers.
The Real Captain Mar-vell. He’s a badass and a interesting character. Eon gave him the nega bands. Cosmic powers with the likes of green lantern. The most underrated character but also one of Marvel’s greatest heroes. From Kree soldier to the protector of the universe. A true avenger.
One of the best Bronze Age runs ever. This was a nice summary and showcased some great Jim Starlin artwork
This tale would have been complete had you included Mar-Vell's encounter with Eon and his upgrade that included cosmic awareness as well as going from gray to blonde.

This was one the high points of post Kirby Marvel, and it's followed-up in the Avengers/Marvel Two-in-One Annuals back in 1977, which laid the foundation of the entire Infinity saga.
Basically, the MCU was born here.

Somebody tell me this: "Why" did Mar-vell have to die (and with all the Kree technology CANCER?!?!?) and stay gone? I mean, of all the people that have been allowed to come back to life...why not him? Why replace him with Carol Danvers? The choice, i can say with confidence, was a poor one at best.

To be fair, the cancer came from an experimental gas Mar-Vell was exposed to while battling Nitro. Yes, *that* Nitro. Also, Carol Danvers wasn't the first to take on the Captain Marvel name. There were others before her: Monica Rambeau, Genis-Vell and Phyla-Vell to name a few.
Blame Mar-Vell's Nega bands,they prevented any treatment from any technically to be effective
I'm with you, Mar-vell was a cool character with a cool costume and powers. Yet , one of the biggest Cosmic Dongs in the MU , Thanos keeps going on and on.
So glad to see there were so many other fans of the 1968-1979 Captain Marvel series. I always felt like I was in the minority. Was never really into the super hero genre, but this series always felt more sci fi than costumed hero. btw - not to nit -pick (because you have done such a great job), but it was actually Marvel Feature #12, not #23. In case anyone is looking to read the stories included in your recap. Also, I agree with C.S.'s comment below. MCU passed over a lot of good source material when they did the Captain Marvel movie. Thanos died and was resurrected by mistress death in order to help her by killing everyone because she felt there was a imbalance in the universe between life and death. Thanos used the infinity well to learn about the gems and thus began his quest to obtain them.
