Strong user privacy in Gmail is not Google's priority. But there are reliable free and paid email providers offering security and privacy with strong encryption and anonymous usage. This video features Mailbox.org, Protonmail, Posteo and Tutanota. Most offer OpenPGP encryption for emails and some encrypted contacts and calendars. Besides standard payment methods like credit cards and PayPal, Bitcoin and cash-by-mail is sometimes offered for true anonymity. Even a .onion service for connecting through the Tor network, custom domains, two-factor-authentication, catch-all addresses and subaddressing might be available.

"More Private than Gmail"
I mean that's not a huge mountain to climb.
I was thinking it would 99% of other email providers lol
I would say 100% but I do not know the situation in China. 99% sounds about right.
Gmail is free because you are not the customer, you're the product. Real customers have to pay something for a service that requires money to run.
YES EXACTLY. You're either the produce or the consumer..... or both in some cases.....
That's the best way I've ever heard it put. 👍
unless it's open source software
At the end gmail will cost your wallet more money then secured email account that you have to pay for.
it is basically all of google's services. Including RUclips.
Google's formal Code of Conduct "Don't Be Evil" has been abandoned. In other words, it is no longer a thing - if it ever was.
Now their Code of Misconduct is "Don't Get Caught". And if you do "Deny, Deny, Deny".
Need more of this great content on privacy and security.
Privacy should be the default in everything humans do, everywhere.
Liked. Subbed. Smashed the notification bell! More please!!! Keep it coming!!!
Thanks, I appreciate it a lot!
Privacy should be the default in everything where humans are the customers of a service. If you're getting something for free on the Internet, you are 'paying' for it with your privacy. Most humans are not remotely interested in or have a concept of what privacy is, at least as far as the Internet is concerned. They scream 'privacy' then post every mindless thought that comes to their head and what they're doing, where they're going, what they're eating on all these social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter. If folks really wanted privacy, they would be private people. It's a little naïve to expect privacy using products that can only exist if users willingly give up their privacy.
@@censiCLICK ok u ......
Paying 4 services is a pleasant shock. it says they mean business.
sahi baat
Protonmail for me. I would never pay for an email service. The funny thing is that if paying is so secure how come protonmail is able to do the same thing as these paid services, if not better?
@@gravityfallscanada thanks to premium plan
@@gravityfallscanada yeah, I was about to point it out too. Premium users fund your account. I use the free version too though, so guilty as well.
Wdym so Protonmail is for buissnis?
For me, the barrier to paid internet services is not money, but being able to pay online. My family has never touched online payments of any kind.
I realized that I can buy a "prepaid credit card" that you can use to pay for anything, and can be reloaded anonymously at a convenience store.
An actually convenient private technology.
Internet as a network is beautiful because of its decentralization. As long as you have a public IP address, you can just hook up a server and set up your own service. I run my own e-mail server, talking standards and not reinventing the wheel ;)
how do you do this step by step?
There is a lot of manuals on-line, just pick one and follow it 😉
If your contact list and calendar is not encrypted then they know with who you are talking and what you are doing. This can be "safe" only for family members.
2:24 Always remember that when something is free, YOU are the product.
@Matthew Jester Signal, for example.
You've got to try Mailfence.com. I've had it for a year now, and I love it. It's out of a country in Europe (forgot which) and their laws are so strict that NO ONE can see your mail without a court order by a judge, and they NEVER keep it. And, it's free. I still have my Yahoo account for my junk mail (filing out on line email addresses to people whom I don't want to have my real address).
Mailfence comes under the jurisdiction of Belgium. Unfortunately that mean they are also under fourteen eyes. Shame.
I have a paid protonmail account, and it's awesome!
This was very helpful. Thanks for the detailed and guided explanation. The flow of the video was also very nicely done!
Tried using ProtonMail. Result: Emails occasionally, completely randomly, failed to arrive. Could not explain it. Didn't go in the spam folder or anything either, they were just... Gone.
You should make a video about ReviOS. Its basically a custom version of windows 10 that is optimized for privacy and stability/compatibility.
Thanks for the tip, I'll look into it!
@@censiCLICK Can't wait for the review!
same.. review that please
Just found this channel , very good!
Not worried about emails, if I wanted to send a secure email I'd encrypt it myself, either use an encryption key the receiver already knows or send another through a secure channel. Problem is received emails but with the amount of spam email we get I doubt it draws any clear pictures.
This video about email privacy was produced on Windows 10.
what OS is most safe
@@RatchetRorschach Linux, Tails, and Qubes
Do they have stupid storage limitations?
i personally just host my own email server.
How can I do it?
Is it easy or tough for newbie
@@xxxzz8413 It's fairly complicated, it requires a website and stuff, and a dedicated server. I recommend a service called Contabo, buy one of their VPS's with a plesk subscription, buy a domain, then set up the domain in plesk, it'll give you the web server, and a email server alongside that.
Bluehost
If you're not paying for the product, then you are the product.
Wow mailbox is so cheap compared to protonmail you just saved quite a few bucks for me cheers
Proton mail require you to pay for using imap thunderbird as I remember
Yes. Using ProtonMail Bridge
Never used Gmail, I've always used Hotmail/Outlook. Also not exactly private but at least I like Microsoft.
I use mail.de, because of the name. Easy to remember and easy to type.
No mention of Canadian Hushmail?
It’s part of the 5 Eyes.
@@YellowJell-OYou want terrorist to operate unchecked?
Love Fastmail. Great email
The window was closed!!!!!!👓😂
Tutanota and protonmail are not good for your privacy. They do expose a lot of metadata which compromise your identity. Remember, its not enough to encrypt your email, you also need to find the way to protect your metadata which is almost impossible to do for your average user.
Short of running your own mail server and requiring everyone you exchange email with to use an account on that server, there is no real way to protect your metadata for emails going between domains. Lot of ProtonMail fans, but now you are just another person identified as someone with something to hide. ruclips.net/video/8Ppl62Bl9RE/видео.html
Unfortunately there's no perfect email system for privacy. You have to choose the best one you can, and never send anything confidential.
Proton is amazin!
does it hide IP address?
But no google docs.
Privacy is always at risk, because most people got used to view convenience over their data.
Great, how about Lavabit?
It’s not that user friendly by any means but if you want hardcore encryption that even Edward Snowden used. Try lavabit
Mail and calendar option and sync with android phone?
No mention of Criptext?
G suite......Google works
Agree. Thats why I use google.
Thank you so much very good presentation and very informative
Proton is owned by Google
I've switched my primary email to Mail.com service. Their start page does have excessive politically 'left' leaning news stories, but it's far less offensive than Yahoo. Finally dumped Yahoo after it became apparent they will Never restore reader comments under the news/opinion stories on its website.
If you need to send a message in secret you can encrypt it yourself and give the recipient code to open via phone call or a secure message like iMessage. A bit of a hassle but unless you’re working with 007, how many secret emails do you need to send anyway?
iMessage is a no no!
You’re better off using ‘signal’
I thought iMessage was had to crack after the issues FBI had with the cell linked to the terror attack in Cali. But I will check out Signal, I've heard of them before on tech podcasts.
Google stinks under the surface.
I would love to have something that is free, secure and supports IMAP.
Advertisements could pay for it
Tutanota says security + IMAP is a contradiction.
More private? Gmail is not even a little bit private... anything is private compared to anything google makes
Love protonmail but no aliases that I can see.
is really worth it at this point try to have a private internet life? seriously because one or other, they find out some ways to know who you are..
I approve 100%
What do y’all recommend, Protonmail or Fastmail?
I use proton. They seem pretty safe about "using" users data.
Proton Seems Like they really would never give Any Data to anyone
@@DCGALAXY except they have. Protonmail is literally a honeypot
@@monkey6429 elaborate on the happened occasion with Protonmail please, and what better alternative you suggest?
I need Google docs thats why I use Google.
protonVPN, protonmaiL, protondrive, they're tracking you, reading your e-maiL, reading the digitaL data, sharing your data to 3rd party and governments.
Where'd you get that from?
What kind of email discussions require such security? I can’t think of anything I discuss via email that would require such privacy. I have used gmail for over 12 years and don’t see what harm it has done my life. I can think of lots of benefits, so other than some overactive libertarian idea that life should be all freedom and all private at the same time, I don’t get it.
Yes, I’ve always known the trade off. I’ve also known the pain of email before gmail and I’ll take the ease of gmail thanks. They scale the technology, they update the client, they engineer the collaboration tools, and I get to choose what I use them for.
Uhhhh what about cock.li ?!?!? How do u not know about that one , they litterly post all Court fillings on their site . Severice is up nd down here and there alot but that's off shore bullet proof hosting hosting
They are open about everything , and is free . Sure it's a little edgy , but that's not the focus , focus is security and privacy !!
And they are racist.
@@n-i-n-o Even better
You didn't even cover how many email accounts for each for the price.
how lazy can anyone be? just go to those mail service companies website and check the prices and packages yourself. Providing too much detailed pricing or service plan package info in a video is usually a bad idea because as the prices change or the subscription plans change, the video becomes inaccurate (not as easy to edit a video as it is to edit a blog/webpage).
@@repealsection230forbigtech4 If someone has a video review, it's the most important thing to me, so I believe it should have been included. Anyways, I pay $10 a year, for two accounts with all the aliases I want.
Does anyone has experience with Zoho mail?
Did i miss ctemplar? 🙄
Proton mail has been hacked
Anything is more private than Gmail.
Dude it's not necessary to have cryptocurrency for all email .... Few limited payment option is good to pay...
If you're not sending mails having passwords of million dollar bank accounts you're safe. Stop paying companies unnecessarily and stop promoting marketing videos as such.
But you need your own cellphone
Google owns android
There is Linux
The difference is that Android is open source, and it's not dependant on Google's servers (unless you want it to be). Since it's client-sided, you can always compile it yourself, meaning you don't have to trust anyone else for it.
hey buddies,, Anyone know alternative to Google maps?
I found all alternatives except Google maps and RUclips..
OsmAnd for Google maps. Newpipe for RUclips
Lbry/Odyssey for RUclips. Completely decentralized. Runs on blockchain.
Noice.
GMAIL IS GREAT, THE REST IS JUST BULL*HIT, I DON'T GIVE A *UCK! PAY FOR A DOMESTIC EMAIL, COME ON, GIVE ME A BREAK, WHO DOES SUCH A STUPIDITY NOWADAYS, THERE'S TOONS OF USEFUL THINGS TO USE YOUR MONEY IN.
@Matt Shaughnessy What?
I like Proton but I hate that they went to pay per year a flat fee would be better
