I have an question unrelated to stair landings, but I cannot find any information online, anywhere as a starting point. How would you go about installing a 1/8th thick, cotton rug runner that's stretchy and far more flexible than a thicker, or backed carpet? Specifically, what type of padding can you use for such thin material and would you still try to secure it with staples? I know tack strips are out and I'm afraid even staples may punch right through, or the material pull through with use.

That’s a really good question / I’m not a fan of the super stretchy rugs / but I would think as long as you stretch it tight you should be able to use normal installation methods

@@KeithShannonDirectCarpet Thank you for the reply. In the end, I chose not to use it for safety reasons and the number of unknowns that may come w/ installation. I'm going w/ a backed carpet.
I'm also wondering what your thoughts are on staples vs. tackless carpet strips and tape on the pads. Seems that staples would be easier and perhaps even necessary when installing on old, uneven stairs? In one of your other vids, I noticed you placed a few random staples into the face of one of the risers w/out comment, I assume to perhaps flatten a slight imperfection? Thank you for all of these excellent videos and your help!
