The mysterious Don Del Oro ("Lord of Gold"), an idol of the Yaqui, emerges and attacks the gold trade of the Republic of Mexico, intent on becoming Emperor. A man named Francisco is put in charge of a fighting legion to combat the Yaqui tribe and protect the gold; he is attacked by men working for Don Del Oro. Francisco's partner recognizes Zorro as the hidalgo Don Diego Vega. Francisco asks Diego, as Zorro, to take over the fighting legion and defeat Don Del Oro.

Back in the 70's, our local PBS station had this on as a filler after a show I really liked. I watched for 11 weeks in a row, wanting to know what happened... then I realized that our family vacation was starting and I would never see chapter 12. Finally, after all these years, I am going to see the ending of this serial. Thank you for posting this.. a childhood mystery solved!

What I liked best about this outstanding Serial was the superb music score by William Lava.
The Legion not only sword fights and shoots, they sing as they ride into battle! From Fairbanks to Banderas, Zorro always works on the screen.
I've been a Zorro fan since a kid in the late 50's. This is new to me also. Thanks!
More Zorro to come, including the female Zorro.

Zorro on a white horse? Thought it was "King", the legendary white horse of Zorro. This one is "Sheik", a very easily recognizable horse with its unique mottling on the face.
And Reed Hadley as Zorro is just epic
This is my all time favorite cliff hangers zorro fighting Legion it has the best theme song of all time it has action suspense and adventure

An excellent Serial and definitely my favourite. Brings happy memories for me when i used to show it on a Saturday Morning for the Kids in Oswestry.
The actor playing zorro is rock solid. He should have been a protagonist in more serials.
HE WAS REED HADLEY WHO WENT ON TO BE ON RACKET SQUAD FOR YEARS HE HAD A GREAT VOICE.
Robert is right! Reed Hadley had a GREAT voice. He also used to be a radio actor and he did a lot of films for the military as narrator

Ok, after binge watching serials for a month, I think this serial is my second favorite.

That's a pretty good list. Personal I would put Spy Smasher and The Masked Marvel at the top. I'm a suckered for the war time serials.

Unfortunately they are all still covered under copyright because they were edited into feature films for television in the 1960s.

Zorros' horse looks a lot like Silver of The Lone Ranger!!
And King! From close you will realize that this horse has a unique face. There's a "C" shaped spot right under it's left eye. This horse's name is Sheik, a gorgeous animal

At 3:23:40, Don Del Oro shoots the other two council members and proclaims "Now my identity will never be known". Did he forget that Zorro just exposed his identity to the entire council?
Back in the late Seventies, the local (Cleveland Ohio) ABC affiliate ran old Republic serials at one am, an episode at a time; this was one of my favorites.

@15:02 Diego's character is similar to Tyrone Power in 'Mark of Zorro' done a year later. He too was very fatigued. lol

this is a story of the pars that some want us to forget the government of Mexico then was not part of California this was a fight of the Spanish Government and Californios All over the TAXES

Hadley was the narrator for many of the atomic testing Government films of the 1950s, and even appears on camera on the deck of one of the ships for the first hydrogen bomb test. In fact he work so frequently, that he had to be given a top secret clearance.
This was a good serial - decent production values, good action, good stunt work and very little padding.

Yes I have the guy Williams Zorro series on DVD from the Disney archive. However of course that program is still copyrighted and I can't post it.

You should be aware that it is out of print so you'll have to find it used. Sometimes you can find it on eBay but it's usually pretty expensive.
