Been using it for years. I feel like a missionary when I try to get other people to try use it too. I live in the tropics with a rough rainy season, and people always ask "How is your windshield doing that!?" I forward them videos like yours. Rain repellant is oddly a somewhat niche product category, but RainX deserves all the praise it gets. It always blows my mind when rainy season comes around and I re-apply.
It looks like you were driving under 40 MPH. That is almost the exact speed at which Rain-X really beads up and you can essentially turn off your wipers. Then it actually gets better as you go faster.
I use RainX as you did a long with RainX windshield wiper fluid. I hardly ever use my wipers. And , never need to on the highway. I've tried many products for the rain/snow/ice and , RainX seem to work best for me. I've used it for years now.
@@TightWadDIY very likely when using certain waxes. Always best to use polishing wax, then wax, then a sealer. Chemical Guys have some extraordinary products. But, Maguire's Ultimate compound, ultimate polishing wax, ultimate liquid wax can be used as well. Both will give you no streaks.
How is it when u use ur windshield wipers with it will it still help the rain removal cus i did this once and if was odd it would smear the rain and would make it harder to see when i did try to hse the windshield wipers on it
If it smeared, you didn’t apply it properly. You really have to buff off all of the excess or it will smear. You should be able to use your wipers with no issues.
I saw a video of a person applying a potato on the outside of the windshield and it looks like it works just like the rain-x. It's a Mexican video and I am trying to find someone in the US who has tried it. 😊
@@fraps3200 good question. You are right, I should do it myself. When I saw it, instead of trying it myself, I decided to check before if anyone in the US had tried it and then I just forgot all about it. You're right, I'll try it myself 😊
Has anyone tried using crept shoe protect spray.... I sprayed my new shoes one the titles outside my house and when it rains you can see exactly where I sprayed it. 😂
Any kind of high quality spray wax works just the same, only difference is you can use it on the whole car. Just make sure to wipe it off good. Water beads.
Absolutely DREADFUL stuff to put on the glass. I have had to reject a car because it was causing serious wiper judder and it couldn't be removed. I'm on my second car with it on and I'm close to getting the windscreen replaced. Don't use it!

It’s crazy that more people don’t use it!

I was going around 45 probably. I does work really well at interstate speeds though!
I agree Aaron, the faster you drive the less wiper strokes.
Perfect example of a great product! Nice job!
Thanks!
The One I Use Is Call Sheen Dash Spray It Cleans The Windows Super Clean And Water Runs Right Off. It Also Can Get Rid Of Slight Scratches

Agreed!
If you just dampen the cloth on your second buff, it will remove the haze
Wax.... Wax that you would use to wax and buff your paint job. Works really well.
Wax works too but I’ve had issues with streaking or hazing.

RainX has a product that you can add to the windshield washer fluid. That's what I use.
Matt DuBois I need to check that out!
@@TightWadDIY I got it through Amazon
Washer Fluid Additive
Seems like that would get used up and need refilled quicker than just applying it to the windshield.
It sucks. I used it already
Perfect video
Glad you enjoyed it.
Intresting ! but would you recommend wiping the windshield off with a little bit of water after applying the Rain-X layer instead of wipinig it dry ?
I wouldn’t. The rain-x instructions say to buff it off.
I worked for Home Depot a spell and when someone asked me about a product, I would just read to them the instructions.
Hi, can you use this type of method for your side windows?
Yes! I use it on all of my vehicle windows.

😂😂 It might work but would likely be very temporary.
@@TightWadDIY may be temporary, may be worth trying...
Temporary as in 10 minutes
Reading through these comments I fell upon yours. I wondered to myself, since it is just a potato, why not try it yourself or did you?

Do I need to use a blue paper towel?
Not required but they hold up really well when damp.

That stuff is too expensive to use on a windshield! Haha.
Can you try Baseus Waterproof Agent

I disagree that it works the same. It doesn’t last nearly as long.
Can you use windex to clean the windshield? Great video
Yes.
This product works in light to moderate rain, but in heavy rain and tropical summer downpours, it is not very effective, at least for me.
I actually love it in all types of rain. I use the wipers along with it in heavy rain.
Wow
Good stuff.
I used auto agent . It did nothing I'm sorry but it was no different.....
good result and rain X is a wordwide product, but I always did this ruclips.net/video/GdsgffDfnMY/видео.html on my windsheild.

Use a bike you seem to be a possible road hazard
Really?
100%
Not to happy with it
