This song has a interesting history in the war agaisnt the soviet union, not gonna go into too much detail but basically they played it for 3 months non stop to jam the soviet mines so that finnish soldiers could advance more safely without having to worry about the mines.

As mentioned, Säkkijärvi was municipality/parish in the areas ceded to the Soviet Union after the Continuation War in 1944. It was near the modern border, and small parts of the municipality were actually left on the Finnish side. Literally translated, the name means 'sack lake' (but I don't know whether that is the origin of the name). Its central village has currently the Russian name Kondratyevo.

It's a song about drinking! The finns used this song to actually Jam russian radar systems as the beat matched the radio waves of their instruments making them completely blind in the "Winter War" 1938-1941

actually it was used to jam radio waves to block soviet union to blow mines, if lots of frequency were used they couldn't use it so it was sent in any frequency possible from anywhere to everywhere.

This polkka signs about a foll song that originated in Säkkijärvi in Karelia that was lost to the soviets this is what they ment when they said Säkkijärvi meiltä on pois ,mutta jäi sentään polkka.
And yes that is real footage from the continuation war and the winter war
