    Sweet. I never took mine apart yet. I sold the HG to you after I got the XG.

    I love how you said your no expert but you love taking apart things. I was always that way. If i took it apart i could put it back together. I did reels, pistols, im a small engine mech. And up to 1990 i was a auto mech. After that i went into auto parts. Sold parts for 25 years. Lol to much info.

    Great video man 💪🏻. one question, is the gearside sideplate made of magnesium or Ci4+? tqvm 🙏🏻😁

    What oil do you use on this reel. I have the xg and it came with no bfs oil. And I can’t seem to get my hands on a bottle without paying triple in shipping

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Год назад

      Hey Juan! Mine came with bfs oil. Shimano has stopped sending oil out with their reels altogether and I actually stopped using their bfs oil. I’ve since swapped to superlube iso 10 oil. Super thin very low viscosity. Another good option from what I’ve heard is tsi321. Hope that helps and cheers!

    Is the brake hub kinda loose on your reel. Like the part that goes in and out when you change the brake power. That whole assembly, is it’s kinda loose? Or no? Thanks

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  2 года назад

      The whole brake hub assembly(?) is tight on mine. The two individual shoes have a bit of play though. As in.. the spring doesnt fully extend in the little channel. I dunno I have my brake settings around 4 for my 5g minnow lure I like to cast. I still have to thumb the spool quite a bit, just at touch down, to not get blow ups.

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL do you have a Facebook or Instagram where I can send you a video to show you what I’m talking about. I see that you’ve already taken the braking system apart so you probably know what I need to tighten. But yes the whole magnetic hub (not just the arms) has some play in it I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be like that or not.

    thinking of getting this but my fishing spot has a drop off of 40 foot and ill be casting mostly 6 to 10 grams lures , so ill cast about maybe 40 to 60+ feet then if i fish bottom there goes another like 40 feet... now my question is can you put at least 125+ foot of 8 to 10 pound braid on the spool ? thanks

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  2 года назад +1

      I have about 50m of 0.6 goh braid on mine. 50m is probably way overkill for what I do. So… depending on the thickness of your braid yea I think you should be ok!

    How often should someone service their bfs reels? I read that aluminum/duraluminum gears can break down over time?

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  Год назад

      Hey jo! I think it’s more of a YMMV but I tend to service my reels more often than not. I’d suggest at least once a year testing down your reel and giving it a clean and re-lube. As far as your question about the durability of aluminum/duralumin main gears I think that’s also a YMMV type answer. There’s so many factors that might play into the longevity of a main gear. Is aluminum softer than brass? Yes. Does that mean it isn’t as durable? I don’t think that it’s a black/white response. Sorry it’s not such a straight forwards answer but I haven’t run into any issues with aluminum main gears. Hope that helps and cheers!

    Can u compare ur dw ultra brake pad vs aldebaran brake pad?

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  2 года назад

      Hi there! I’d love to do a comparison video. What specifically are you looking for? Just a physical comparison of the two braking systems? Casting performance of the reels? I appreciate the idea and look forward to your response and what you’d like to see. Cheers!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL hi...ty vm for ur reply.
      Physical comparison and mechanical work will be good. Cause some peoples say dwu wrong on make copy from ftb.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  2 года назад

      @@just4gamer hello again! I can say that the mechanics of both brake systems are identical. They both have brake shoes that swing outwards as the magnetic field increases from the rotating spool. Where they differ is that the 2022 Aldebaran brake system assembly retracts further away from the spool into the side plate. This reduces the minimum magnetic forces that the spool observes at the lowest brake setting. Maybe I’ll do a video explaining exactly how these brake systems work. Out of curiosity do you understand the mechanics of the magnetic brake system that these reels use? I think a video on that would be a good idea. Let me know what you think. Thank you and cheers!

      @@BFSFISHINGCHANNEL i have dwu. But i think dwu was wrong direction on the swing plate.
      I just observing from watching aldebaran video then compare to my dwu.
      But im not clear if that dwu have different swing direction. Will great if u can compare inside swing brake.

    • @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL
      @BFSFISHINGCHANNEL  2 года назад +1

      @@just4gamer I have no real way to prove that the direction of the brake system affects performance. Imho it does not. If it does I really doubt there is a significant effect on performance of the brakes. I think to test this I would need a left handed and right handed copy of the DWU and the Aldebaran which, unfortunately, isn’t going to happen…
