Oatmeal Scotchies were always in my grandmother’s cookie jar. I haven’t had these in years. Thank you for the wonderful recipe and the sweet memories!❣️
I DO use the extra fine salt! So happy you included that in this video. Though sometimes I just eliminate the salt measurement and use salted butter instead. I know, I know about controlling the amount of salt in recipes. It's just that I love the flavor of salted butter! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your lovely family. 💖 Hi Brian! 👋
I made these cookies once every other week for literally years for my three sons and husband - it was always their favorite cookie. At the end of the cooking process, my cookies that had been on cookie sheets cooling were half gone. I knew this would happen when I began baking , so I had to think of a way to expand the number without having to make another full batch. I did make smaller cookies and I did spread out each cookie dough with the bottom of a glass. Not too much - as they become "lacey". I also added some chopped pecans. My note to self: I mixed the butterscotch into the dough by hand. Happy to find your channel !
One of my all time favorite cookies. I make them every year. If you want to make them extra special for the Christmas season add the zest of one orange to the batter. It takes them to a new level of a delish festive cookie.
I made these last night. No matter what I did (chill, freeze, etc), they spread more than I like. They were not pretty. I thought they were too sweet but today they seemed to meld to a better flavor and the recipient loved them. So success-but I’d sure like a better appearance.
What a beautiful recipe. I made them this evening and everyone devoured them 😆 always fantastic recipes from you and easy to follow. Thankyou so much. From my home to yours 🤗💛🙏
OK, I've made these cookies so many times after reading the recipe for them on the back of a bag of butterscotch chips a few years ago. I sometimes make bars instead of cookies.
Thank you for this fantastic recipe! I just made them today and my family loves them. This is now my favorite cookie recipe to make. Please continue with your amazing videos. Watching you makes me smile with your heart warming, happy personality. 😉
Happy Thanksgiving! Wow, are these ever a throwback to my childhood, when my mom baked around 10 different kinds of cookies. These are a forgotten favorite & I will def be making them. Might add raisins just to see if the 2 oatmeal classics can play nice together! ❤
Oh my gosh. Butterscotch is a wonderful childhood memory for me. And the cinnamon is a must, right along with the vanilla! What a beautiful cookie recipe. Thank You! ~Sharon
Yes! i finally have an excuse to use my stand mixer. I made a mistake though while making the cookies. Instead of baking soda I put baking powder in. My baking soda comes in a box, the baking powder comes in a can and I saw your can of baking soda and got confused >.< they turned out flat but still delicious
I’ve only just discovered Preppy Kitchen, and so pleased to see easy and tasty recipes without all the fuss! Can’t wait to try these recipes out on my family. And thank you for giving us the weights of the ingredients, very much appreciated in the UK 👍🏻💖
You took the words right out of my mouth about the weighing of ingredients. People dont realize cup sizes arent universal but weights are. I dont even bother with recipes by the likes of Martha Stewart because of her measuring.
Hi John I've been making at least 13 recipes from you already and we loved them, my husband is finnish and love hispanic foods. PLEASE could you make Chocoflan? I tried already two recipes and didn't came out good. By the way Oliver loved the flan I make from your recipe.
Preppy kitchen your video are amazing I love it I going to tred it congratulations and I just love when you upload for everybody and we appreciate you coking I don't even know what to say preppy kitchen and hapoy thanks giving
Just finished your pizza recipe and have batches of these beauties coming out of the oven. They are to die for! I think I’ve put on 10lbs in weight today 🤣 Edit to add: I’ve made this around 6 times. I think I’m addicted. We don’t have butterscotch chips where I live so I crush worthers originals butterscotch sweets in a pestle and mortar, works great. I use nutmeg with the cinnamon. This recipe also makes a FANTASTIC crumble for rhubarb crumble etc
I would really love if you did a cookie recipe for people (like me) who can't eat butter because of high cholesterol 😕 I'm having a hard time finding something sweet but that has no fat in it, speacially butter, and I love cookies so that's something that I would be happy to find 😊🍪
Marta, I’m with you, I have high cholesterol as well, and I’m supposed to not eat over 7 saturated fats a day. Well butter is full of clogging artery fat. But it does taste so good. And I can’t just eat 1 cookie 🤪❤️christy
In Austria we don‘t have butterscotch chips. Is there any good substitute for them? Maybe something like chopped up soft toffees? Thanks for your recommendations☺️
Heyy I have a question, whats the name of your oven? Ive been looking for it quite a while but I cant seem to find it HELP ME PLSSS is so gorgeous I would love to have it in my new home. (sorry for my english this is not my first lenguage)
Mmmmm i wish I could get butter scotch chips in my country! I'm looking for a cookie recipe that involves spending some quality time with loved ones rolling out dough and using cookie cutters. Ideally for Christmas but not ginger or spicy cookies. I have a great recipe for ginger cookies but unfortunately one of the person's dislikes ginger so maybe some kind of butter cookie? Do you have any cookie recipes that fit this description? Keep up the good work! Happy holidays! 😊 💕 😘
I dont think so. I notice other American recipes where the dark brown sugar is more light a light brown sold in NZ. I would also use the Muscovado instead. I use Billingtons brand.
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!! Hope you are all enjoying a wonderful day. 🦃✨
You too!!
HI PLEASE TAKE MY NAME. DIVYAM

I only found preppy kitchen about two months ago. I am loving all John’s recipes and have made quite a few of them already. His videos are the best
Happy Thanksgiving 🦃. My family loves when I make these during the Christmas season. I put them into a pan, bake, then cut into brownies. So good!
Cinnamon is a must in oatmeal cookies for me as well🍪
One of my all time favorite cookies. I make them every year. If you want to make them extra special for the Christmas season add the zest of one orange to the batter. It takes them to a new level of a delish festive cookie.
And yes, you need cinnamon!
I’m so glad there are no raisins. I love oatmeal cookies and so many oatmeal cookie recipes have them. I do like raisins but not in my cookies!
I’d put cinnamon in EVERYTHING if I could! ….love the smell of it cooking around Christmas time xxxxxxx
Agreed..🤗
Cinnamon in the winter and cilantro in the summer.
I have learned so much from watching your video You don't hold anything back thank you ❤

Your family is so fortunate to have you, with your Wonderful baking skills!
I made these and used orange extract. They were fabulous ❤️
My favorite kind of cookies... oatmeal and butterscotch chips 😋😋😋
OK, I've made these cookies so many times after reading the recipe for them on the back of a bag of butterscotch chips a few years ago. I sometimes make bars instead of cookies.
It’s lovely watching you, you make it all so easy, from UK X
Thank you for this fantastic recipe! I just made them today and my family loves them. This is now my favorite cookie recipe to make. Please continue with your amazing videos. Watching you makes me smile with your heart warming, happy personality. 😉
I love your teaching, I learn a lot

Something tells me this is going to become a favorite recipe for my family. I love your kitchen John!! Happy thanksgiving from🇨🇦🦃🇺🇸
Your cookies and biscuits are so good and easy to make, Thank you .
Oh my gosh. Butterscotch is a wonderful childhood memory for me. And the cinnamon is a must, right along with the vanilla! What a beautiful cookie recipe. Thank You! ~Sharon
I make these but I do them as a bar and they are awesome. They are my son’s favorite
These look great thanks for sharing this
I love oatmeal scotchies! ❤️
I really wanna say that your channel is the reason I got back into baking. Keep up the good luck!
Thankful for your dedication to this channel!!!
I love it. Thanks sir for the video. I'm a vivid fan now.
Oooh, those sound yummy!! I love oatmeal cookies, and putting butterscotch in them, sounds even better.

My FAVORITE cookie! My momma always makes these when she's able to visit. Can't wait to try your recipe!
Making these for Christmas
These are one of my favorites. Even though I have a recipe it's cool to look at others and adjust if need to. Side note I add chopped pecans as well
A new favorite for me (to make) and the family ( to eat). Absolutely delicious.
I've learnt something new: I've always mixed the white n brown in together with the butter. Never knew the granulated fluff more than brown
looks delicious and yummm, love from UAE
Just made some tonight, the cookies are perfect just like the ones in the bakeries 😋
One of my family's favorites! And perfect timing too. I had just added them to my Christmas cookie baking list.

You can replace the butter with earth balance lower cholesterol butter substitutes and it still tastes great.
In Austria we don‘t have butterscotch chips. Is there any good substitute for them? Maybe something like chopped up soft toffees? Thanks for your recommendations☺️
Honestly for me not having them doesn't really make a difference flavor wise.
@@mikaylababjac9585 thank you! 🤗
Even if it's not the right substitution, you are not going to go wrong using toffee in an oatmeal cookie.
@@NotContinuum 😄👍🏻 thank you!
I was thinking something like Wethers Originals, which is a hard toffee, and crush them
Yum. So good. Haven't had these in years. Thanks for the share
I’m trying this with half butterscotch and half bittersweet chocolate chips.
I love you and your recipes . I can trust the recipe with closed eyes it always works perfectly and is delicious! Good food good life ❤️ thanks buddy!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all from here in the UK…..hope you’re all doing well and keeping safe …..thanks for another fab recipe John xxxxxx

we don't have butterscotch chips here in Australia. What could I use as an alternative please?
What good scale do you use? Love oatmeal scotches!
love the energy!
This looks so delicious.

These look interesting John! Happy Thanksgiving! I wish you and your family a wonderful and safe holiday! 🦃 🥧 🍽 😋 😇
These cookies don’t get the recognition they deserve because they aren’t the prettiest cookie, but they are one of the best tasting.
Can’t miss any of your cookies recipes John
Would baking powder works? Instead of baking soda?
Thank you for the receipt
So yummy recipe, are you from UK?
Yes . Yummy yummy 🤤
Happy thanksgiving to you and your family, love you video, the recipe perfect 👍, happy thanksgiving 🦃🍁❤️
I can’t wait for all of johns Christmas recipes!!

How long do you bake for? Please
Could you show us how to make packed brown sugar? We cannot buy this in a regular shop in Germany.
Happy Thanksgiving, John!

Looks so yummy. In my next life, I want to come back as your kid.

Amazing 👍👍👍👍
You could say anything I would agree with u 👍🥰

I love cinnamon ❤️
Can u add choc chips instead ?
Cinnamon rules!!!!
John!! It seems you read my mind !!!! Happy thanks giving day !!!
a must try chef
Hey John! I absolutely love all of your recipes! Do you think you could show us how to make a gingerbread house? ❤️
Maybe it's the lighting? I think I'm going to use Marks and Spencers Muscovado sugar. It's insanely dark and chewy
I dont think so. I notice other American recipes where the dark brown sugar is more light a light brown sold in NZ. I would also use the Muscovado instead. I use Billingtons brand.
Can you post a link for the scale you are using?
What kind of stove and oven is that?
Happy thanksgiving John! ❤️
