I think because of Jimmy's so-called references to the Devil, in the music, he's saying that if you believe in one extreme, literal interpretation of Heaven, then you need to account for the opposite on the circle. Not believe in it, necessarily. They're not saying they believe or support the Devil. Or that they, themselves, believe in Heaven or Hell in the literal sense. But many do.

I'd much rather play & listen to 1 or 2 Soulful musical notes, than someone just a super fast player playing scales without a tempo, grooves or any musical constructed rhythms/ beats...shredding isn't music...to me as a player of 55 years.

@nigelthethomas589 Jimmy Page really was not a very good live guitarist. Some of the songs on Led Zeppelin studio albums are magical. Eddie Van Halen had a bigger influence than Hendrix and Page both playing style and industry standards guitars, amps, pickups and pedals. Hendrix Band of Gypsies is a terrible album. Some of the songs Jimmy Hendrix 3 studio excluding Smash Hits are pretty fucking good, but his career doing his own thing was pretty short.

How about all genres of guitar 🎸? I'm not a big country fan but I have heard some of the GOAT guitarist influenced by Chet Atkins and Roy Clark. If you haven't heard these guys. Check em out. Roy Clark's performance on the TV show "The odd couple". Check out a documentary on Chet. That cat plays the bass notes on the 4th,5th and 6th strings, the melody on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th and lead 1st, 2nd and 3rd simultaneously. His use of hammer ons', pull offs, vibrato, and fingering on the neck with both hands were not know to most at that time and his accuracy is unparalleled. Something to do while on lockdown thanks to covid 19. We need to come together as a people regardless of our political beliefs. Whether you may or may not like that orange headed clown in the White House. I sure wouldn't want to be in his shows or ANY other Presidents shoes through this pandemic. Just as we as a country were enjoying the lowest unemployment rates in many years, the increased income for poc in businesses, highest earnings ever, prison reform, trade deals that DIDN'T start a trade war as the MSM predicted etc. The saddest part is while the onslaught by the left on Trump to get him out of office wasted multimillions of tax payer money. He's not presidential nor an articulate spokesman but he's a business man. Living in a free market economy, that's Exactly what we need. Maybe just maybe this insidious virus will have some lasting effect on us as a people in a positive way. 🙏✌️💜😀 Hope and music!

The lyrics from the first album onward suggest that he came in on a spaceship for a little visit to the Third Stone from the Sun, looked around (Up From the Skies), and saw a world that had burned. "Well maybe it's just a change of climate". "I had been been here before, in the days of ice". Maybe he really was from another universe. His guitar playing sure was, and remember, nobody had heard anything like this before. He was WAY ahead of his time. I still listen to, and miss him.

His art is, he improvises at high speed and almost flawlessly and combines musicality with aggressiveness in a spectacular way. Thanks to RUclips and the live versions, many people (and me) only realized how good it is and how much fun it is to hear it and to continue to discover it. He's unique and so are other guitarists. In My Opinion The fact that you love them doesn't mean they're good. I know their works well and they are fine but probably not in the big Ten for a number of obvious reasons, but not even those on Mojang's list, but they are very iconic guitarists and so they are on the list .a very common mistake in people is to think that the fastest guitarists are better than the slower ones. Not in this case but still; they chose the most iconic ones which is wrong. There are a lot of small ,unknown guitarists that are twenty times better than jimi hendrix with all of the respect and there is a lot of it.
But in the end , after the Sound ,complexity and creativity it's all about personal taste so there are no "best". So don't get offended. this list is not really a list of "best, it's a list of most "iconic"

    9. Ritchie Blackmore - influence, and skill, his songs speak for himself

7.SRV - his influence can be the only factor for this list but his solos and riffs are insane
    6. BB King and Chuck Berry - these two are always on the 6th and 5th spot so im combing them as they both are as influential as eachother and as skillfull
    5. Randy Rhodes - Just listen to Blizzard of Oz and thats all the proof you need
    4. Eddie Van Halen - he needs no introduction, he is the creator of arguably the hardest guitar solo of all time and one of the greatest, his self made techniques are beaten by nobody,
    3. Eric Clapton - 3 words, influence, skill and overall baddassery (yes i made a new word up), his riffs and solos are some of the most instantly recognizable ones ever and his succsess with different genres and his guitar writing and sogwriting techniques are close to number 1
    2. Jimmy Page - the fact that if you play Kashmir, Stairway To Heaven, Whole Lotta Love and Rock and Roll to anyone and they'll know it instantly and the amount of guitarist hes influence is enough to put him on the number 2 spot alone without recognizing his skill speaks for itself.

Gilmour should be way WAY higher on the list. Guitar isn't always playing as fast as you possibly can, it's about creating an atmosphere using dynamics, shredding is cool and all but sometimes you need to slow it down and let a note ring out for a full semibreve. His style is the perfect combination of atmosphere, skill and melody.
