    I enjoy your videos as they are efficient and cover all the important info. The one thing you never talk about is the electrical requirements off the panel. It's always a factor for a hobbyist or a tradesmen working out of their own shop and off their home panel.

      The 255 can take a range of voltage. 208-480+. They recommend 240. Single phase only. So if u have a 3 phase hook up, it be A phase white, B phar black, green ground. I've run it on all voltages.

    What an amazing result with the pulse feature on aluminum, that would make any newbie welder look like they have been welding for a long time. I'm sure that expensive gun has a lot to do with it too.

    So at 2:35 you started welding at your almost far right end of the piece you supposedly welded. Yet at 2:55 you covered up what you just welded and pointed to a pre-existing weld over a foot to the left (almost in the center of the piece). Care to explain this?

      In actuality he isnt even "welding " at all, welding requires 2 seperate pieces of metal . What he is doing here is a newbie trick to make it look like he is welding . He is laying a bead over the inside corner of angle iron. He is from the marketing department of Bakers gas and really cant weld worth a shit . Just because someone puts on a lab coat on youtube doesn't make them a scientist .

    I have a new Millermatic 255 and need to set it up to mig weld a 6" x 6" x 3/8" square pipe to a piece of 1" thick plate; all mild steel. What manual settings would you use to do this job? How many passes would you weld? Should I use the pulse option? I appreciate the videos you use to help customers to successfully use Miller products. Thank you for your help.

    really loved the videos (this and the unboxing)very informative, bringing my 350 mpa in for service in the morning, all I have is some 250x's and a 252 for back up but this would be an awesome addition and like you said they really dont make any small pulse mig machines, I already have the 25' Xr alumapro so this wouldn't be a bad Investment at all, we are about to get another 350 mpa even though we dont use half of the capability but this might work out perfect, my miller rep has been giving me little teasers about the multimatic 255 for a year now

      @@BakersGas I got the 255 set up with an xr alumapro, for the money it is an awesome welding machine but not quit up to par with the 350 mpa, it has a lapping problem at higher wfs, I've dialed it down to the run in but it has to be changed for every heat leap( from 20 to 30), it would be superb to have a hot start, though the start is extremely smooth (even compared to 350 mpa) it lacks heat for clean starts. One more thing is that it is not compatible with the XR 30a push pull guns, which I was hoping it would be because I have two the I dont use. But all in all, it is light years away from the 250s and 252s as far as aluminum capabilities go and as soon as we get this one dialed in we will be purchasing more

    Turn your gas up to get rid of the black soot.. Looks like you practiced a lot before you showed us that last bead. That push pull gun is crazy expensive.
    My HTP pro pulse 300 does double pulse right from the mig gun. And double pulse in every syneric settings.

      Currently that 300 unit is 5500 USD. Miller is well below that for the basic kit.

    In the demonstration you had it set for 4000 series aluminum, can this unit also do 5000 & 6000 series as well?

      I'm imagining it's talking about the grade of filler metal being used and not the grade being welded. Push pull guns usually have a tension setting for 4xxx or 5xxx series filler. 4xxx wires are softer and more delicate than 5xxx wires but 4xxx are more ductile and less prone to cracking.

    Hey, can the 255 be powered by the lincoln mpx 330?

    • @BakersGas
      @BakersGas  3 года назад

      EH I would say not quite enough power would depend on what else you were running. The 255 is 220 power only.

    I am looking at getting the gun with the longer lines. I have heard horror stories about push/pull guns and the lines needing to be perfectly straight. I have been there before with bad linings in some of our older machines. But I can imagine with wheels at both ends if there was anything hanging the line up in between that it would cause problems. Any thoughts?
