I got a toy poodle when I was 6 years old and she saved my and my friends and families life. They are the most friendly loving and intelligent animals ❤️
Best way to fix separation anxiety is own more than 1 dog. I own 3, a Shihtzu, Papillon & Toy Poodle. My Shihtzu suffered separation anxiety when I was at work each night so I got her a friend. No more anxiety. I purchased my 3rd dog (Toy Poodle) so there would be no situation that would have any of my babies home alone. They are all super happy all the time. This breed combination I was told would not work due to jealousy issues from my female Shihtzu having another female dog (Toy Poodle) around and Papillon Dogs being a little aggressive when playing, but, those people were very wrong as these 3 breeds get along perfectly. My Shihtzu quickly got used to my Toy Poodle with no problems and my Papillon will only play to an aggressive level that keeps up with the other 2. I could not ask for better, more loyal or more loving dogs!
@@roysimmons7586 I get it. Charlie was supposed to have a simple pre-molar (tooth) removal and it turned out to be oral cancer and I had to put him down while he was already under. He had a clean bill of health less than two months earlier. I was in absolute shock having to see him laying there and making the decision to do the right thing. And that was only six months after our other toy died of brain cancer. I'm still sad about it, but I'm grateful to have as many years as I did with him. He was the sweetest, kindest, bravest, most loyal and loving dog I could have ever asked for. I will eventually get another dog, but he set the bar very, very high.
I don't know if i will ever get another dog or not, that pain and sadness is really hard to shake, but like you i do appreciate all the years we had with her.i might think about an outside dog because it seems like you don't get quite as close to them.but toy poodles can attach them selves to your soul believe it or not it's been about 10 months and i still put her water bowl down on the floor because i can't stand to see that spot empty...

You need to take the dog to doggie daycare, or, at minimum, have a dog walker that will come in and take the dog for a good walk in the middle of the day. You cannot leave the dog alone for more than 4 hours. I would also suggest taking time off, a week or two, if possible to bond and train your puppy, when you first get the dog. I ju
@@nishhx_x Yes. Toy poodles are very social and cannot be left more than 4 hours a day. Otherwise they will get depressed and destructive, or have other behavior problems. My first poodle I got a year before I got separated and divorced, which I was not expecting. My ex was retired and took her on the days I was working. This was for the dog and I swallowed my pride, because I couldn’t stand him, at the time. Currently, I am applying for disability and, then, retirement and my live in boyfriend is semi retired. We just got a puppy after my Coco, had to be euthanized after 17 years together. If we need to board her, we will do so at the pet hospital where she gets her care. They also have pet hotels at Petsmart, ect. There are many breeds that are more independent, like miniature schnauzers,Lhasa Apsos, Boston Terriers or Peekapoo, Akitas, The toy poodle is not one of them.
@@lubazak636 oh I see! Thanks for all that info. I was concerned cos daycares near my place are pretty expensive and I had no idea petsmart also has them. I wanted a smaller dog so I can take it with me on trips and since my apartment is pretty small. I’ll do some more research then!
I know that the video was regarding Toy Poodles, and I'm on my second Miniature Poodle, I must disagree that they are high maintenance regarding their coats. The natural curl of the poodle is what makes them low maintenance. A good haircut every 6-8 weeks and shampooing once a week is all of the maintenance they'll need. You can always brush them, but it's not necessary in my experience. Neither our poodle that we had for 15 years, nor our present poodle has ever suffered separation anxiety, with both of us going to work daily. We have always loved them and let them know that we missed them when we get home, and their love in return is priceless!
I needed to see this comment thank you! I will be working reg 8 hours and was wondering if I should still get a puppy due to me not being home for 8 hours.
@@samanthatrapps9506 I wish you the best as you acquire your new love. Poodles are very smart and adaptable, just love them and you will get the same in return. And don’t forget that they love to go for walks, fetch, and playing in water.

Hey Jess! Thank you for the info! Love love love these fluffy friends. I am considering getting a toy poodle or a mini goldendoddle but I'm worried that my long hours away from home will create separation anxiety. I work 4 10hour shifts scattered throughout the week. The toy poodle that I'm considering to get is a 3 year old male. If i take off a week & half at my job do you think it would give him enough time to get used to me and be okay with being home alone? Or should I consider getting his sibling to keep them both company with each other?
Hey Tiffany! Sorry I'm not the right person to ask about this. Each dog is different. With Zuko, he stays by himself when we go out etc for a few hours, however apart from going out, we all work from home - even before COVID, so he never really needed to spend time alone 😅Guess Zuko's been lucky someone is usually always around! I can't really give you an answer based on experience.
You need a dog walker, at minimum, to take the dog for a long walk in the middle of your workday. Otherwise, day care. Toy poodles are very social and cannot be left alone for more than 4 hours, no matter how much you bond with them. There are dog breeds that are more independent. Toy poodles are not one of them. I just got a new puppy and am retired. My partner is semi retired. We are home a lot. When I had my former toy poodle, for 17 years, I chose to share him with my ex husband, who was retired, for the dog’s sake, for this reason, even though it was difficult, at first. They are very lovable, but needy, emotionally. I guess two would be better, although that’s a lot of grooming. 10+ hours, in a playpen, even with two, is a lot. You would still need a dog walker to split up their day.
What would be a long period of time for them to develop separation anxiety? I’m a college student so I would be gone for a few hours a day for class is that okay?
I know im late but i have a question about the seperation anxiety im off school till september the 7th im at school for about six hours if. I Get my toy poodle tomorrow she is 8 weeks old is it okay to leave her when im at school or should i organise someone to come and see her ? thank you also great video
September is only 1 month away, she will be way too young to be left alone for 6 hours. You'll definately need someone! She can probably be left alone 2 hours max. Hope this helps! You can leave them longer when they become adults 🐶
Heyy, im getting a toy poodle in 2 days and im having school soon. Are toy poodles okay with staying with another person at home besides their “main owner”? for example: if i leave my dog with my dad at home while being at school. Btw you’re really pretty and i wish nothing but the best for you 🥺🥺
I want a Toy Poodle, but with the separation anxiety thing, I don't know. I have school and weekends I see my dad. I don't know if I'll get enough time with it :((
They can hold their pee on hour for each month of age, but they should not be left alone for more than 4 hours, max. They need to be crate trained. You need to set up dog boarding, day care, or, at minimum, get a dog walker that will take them on a long walk in the middle of your being gone all day. They are very social and loving dogs, but needy. That’s part of their charm.
@@Yesindeedgod for one thing we don't want our dogs to be over weight. The second reason is because they listen better than if they have eaten a lot of food. 🐩
Jacquelyn, yes, start training and keep training. Always keep reinforcing. Keep training and you will have a very well behaved little dog. Other people will love your well behaved dog too. 🌷

What do you mean by "left alone for a long time", is that 4 hours, 8hours, or is it 12 hours?
Surprised my son with a toy poodle today :)

On my way to beg my parents to buy me one.

They dont shed?! My asthma is thanking u
I definitely shed more than him 😂
This is a dumb question but what’s the color of Zuko’s fur? She seems darker than cream but lighter than brown. She looks like a teddy bear. 😍
zuko might be light brown or red
I know im late but i have a question about the seperation anxiety im off school till september the 7th im at school for about six hours if. I Get my toy poodle tomorrow she is 8 weeks old is it okay to leave her when im at school or should i organise someone to come and see her ? thank you also great video
September is only 1 month away, she will be way too young to be left alone for 6 hours. You'll definately need someone! She can probably be left alone 2 hours max. Hope this helps! You can leave them longer when they become adults 🐶
Ok thanks
I got a black toy poodle when i was 7 years old in 2017 on my birthday , after that i do not regret getting one
Heyy, im getting a toy poodle in 2 days and im having school soon. Are toy poodles okay with staying with another person at home besides their “main owner”? for example: if i leave my dog with my dad at home while being at school. Btw you’re really pretty and i wish nothing but the best for you 🥺🥺
Hey, thank you! Yeah, they'll be fine as long as someone is looking after them while they're still puppies 😊
lex, poodles love being with people. Your poodle will be fine staying with your dad when your not home. 🌷
Thanks for sharing. We are trying to figure out what kind of puppy to get as a first time dog owner
You’re welcome!
We are the cutest!!!!
Already following!
I want a Toy Poodle, but with the separation anxiety thing, I don't know. I have school and weekends I see my dad. I don't know if I'll get enough time with it :((
OMG........................ SO CUTE😊😊😊😊😊😊
Hey Jess! I have a question about toy poodles, do you recommend a toy poodle for a first time dog owner? And any tips for your first dog?
I just bought one yesterday! :)
Just got one and she is beautiful...
Hi! How long is a ‘long time’ if you have to leave them at home? 2 hours? Less than one? Thank you for the information!
That’s part of their charm.
thanks for the tip cause i might be getting one and its much more harder then having my type of dog
You're welcome!
本当可愛いです💓パピーの頃が懐かしいです😆
OMG it's so cute and I'm getting one tomorrow 8:00

I have had two toy poodles there amazing
ahhh i have two golden doodles and one toy poodle, and we’re getting another one haha. they’re my favorite breed ❤️
Wow lucky! They are the cutest 🙊🐶
I have a toy poodle and her name is Coco she is really hyper but extremely cute. If you get one I recommend you not feed it to much food
I totally agree to not over feed your dog.
Why
@@Yesindeedgod for one thing we don't want our dogs to be over weight. The second reason is because they listen better than if they have eaten a lot of food. 🐩
Not me chilling with my full grown toy poodle
Hi i am New, Thanks for the Video ❤️ Keep it Going❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi! So I’m getting a mini poodle and i was wondering do you have to wait until you start to train your dog?
You can train them straight away! Cause you need to toilet train them too
Alright thank you!
Jacquelyn, yes, start training and keep training. Always keep reinforcing. Keep training and you will have a very well behaved little dog. Other people will love your well behaved dog too. 🌷
