These numbers would be surpassed if WW3 was to break out. There's no need for tens of thousands of tanks nowadays and there won't be enough people to men them without mandatory conscription anyways.

There were no Germans in America while it took 5 years to finally engage the Germans...
Germans were really very good, the allies needed several tanks for each german tank, in equal numbers the germans would win with one hand behind their back.

The figures are not based on third-generation tanks. In the case of North Korea, for example, the number of tanks produced in the 1970s is also included. In other words, it is not based only on current usable power.
You could google croatian war for independence before posting such a commentar, see how many tanks did croatia have and how many opposing JNA army. The last time we lost 3 or more tanks we destroyed 100+ and won war against one of worlds strongest armys in that time, mr funnyguy
Russia has borders with many possible adversaries which might necessitate those numbers while the US has only Canada and Mexico, neither of which poses a significant threat to our nation. We are built to carry out hostilities on the oceans, in the air and on foreign shores.

Types of added armors , FC system, ammunition, maneuvering ability and etc are still not competitive enough against 4th gen tanks. They became just little less easier for 4th gen tanks to destroy.
Tank corps size in relation to land area seems like a measure of one or more things: 1. Industrial prowess in machine production. 2. Recent/future wars within the boundaries. 3. A compensation for certain deficiencies in the leadership. Why would you own six tanks at all? Aside from parades I guess. Some of these numbers seem imaginative and have to include all kinds of stuff that other nations wouldn't classify as MBTs at all. One guy's armoured car is another ones "tank" I guess. Then there's the matter of counting derelict hulls that are not being maintained in a ready state.
I expect that the large majority of these putative tanks are non-operational. Many of them are obsolete rust buckets. Of those that are operational, most are manned by crews with very little actual training in their use. Furthermore most countries don't have the logistics in place to actually use the tanks they have in any sort of sustained operations. Finally very few militaries have the command/control/communications/intelligence, and the operational doctrine for combined arms necessary to actually employ tanks in any function other than mobile field artilery. TLDR: Numbers mean little.

Makes me think about how back in World War II the US ended up building over 50,000 Shermans and Russia ended up building over 57,000 T-34’s.

These numbers would be surpassed if WW3 was to break out. There's no need for tens of thousands of tanks nowadays and there won't be enough people to men them without mandatory conscription anyways.
But the Russians ( Soviets) built their tanks, fighters ( 60,000 IL2) , Katyushas , YAK 3/9 (45000) , artillery, Bombers , submarines, ships ,small arms and moved 2000 heavy industries by railcars over the Urals, all while fighting the world's most powerful army that had just defeated Europe and the English E.F. at its peak. There were no Germans in America while it took 5 years to finally engage the Germans...
Germans were really very good, the allies needed several tanks for each german tank, in equal numbers the germans would win with one hand behind their back.

Even before D-day we were fighting the Germans, Italians as well as fighting the Japanese. То же слышал про 20000 танков. Но вряд ли все они боеспособны. Нормальных танков 3000. На хранении много Т-80, их можно быстро в строй поставить. Но танкам нужны экипажи.

Everybody's talking smack about the variability in tank technology, and while that's extremely relevant I'd like to point out that even a old Cold War or even WW2 tank can still wreck light infinity and irregular forces the same as it used to (until they go up against anti-tank stuff, but that used to be the case too).

Just like the old saying goes....it's not the size of your tank that matters but how you use what tank you have.
Tank corps size in relation to land area seems like a measure of one or more things:
1. Industrial prowess in machine production.
2. Recent/future wars within the boundaries.
3. A compensation for certain deficiencies in the leadership.
Why would you own six tanks at all? Aside from parades I guess.
Some of these numbers seem imaginative and have to include all kinds of stuff that other nations wouldn't classify as MBTs at all. One guy's armoured car is another ones "tank" I guess. Then there's the matter of counting derelict hulls that are not being maintained in a ready state.
The number of tanks owned is futile if you don't have air superiority anyway.

I expect that the large majority of these putative tanks are non-operational. Many of them are obsolete rust buckets. Of those that are operational, most are manned by crews with very little actual training in their use. Furthermore most countries don't have the logistics in place to actually use the tanks they have in any sort of sustained operations. Finally very few militaries have the command/control/communications/intelligence, and the operational doctrine for combined arms necessary to actually employ tanks in any function other than mobile field artilery.
TLDR: Numbers mean little.
