I wonder how good the instruments are that were made a few years after the Selmer takeover. I have a Buescher aristocrat made in 1968 or possibly 1969 (based on the serial number). It looks very similar to yours (including the valve block style), except mine is nickel plated and it is not a side scroller, and the water keys are slightly different. Is it possible that the quality of the instruments in 1968-1969 date range might have still been good, i.e. before the major quality slippage took place? Also, you have wonderful tone.
I think the quality didn't drop immediately but rather over a longer period, after all probabaly all workers and factories remained the same. I would think that instruments like mine and yours that were made few years after the take over are still quite good.
