Nice and superprofessional job! I have a 1946 big B which is now under the same overhaling process. I am so keen to hear how it will sound after the job.
Every day is a school day... I just learnt that Big B is the engraving, I thought it was the large bell on some Bueschers (Top Hat & Cane, Super 400), which also have an external strengthening ring around the bell. Interesting to see these procedures that I have read about, but not seen in practice (swaging, shellac, snap in resonators). You make it look easy, bet it took some hard work to get all the pads seated, corks/felt pads fitted and action adjusted 👍.
Great video! Thanks for sharing! You mentioned applying black oxide for an even patina... may i ask what kind og black oxide you used? And could you perhaps explain a little moor about how you applied it? Thank you
Thanks! I bought it here in Finland (link below) but I think you can easily find it anywhere. I applied it with a sponge and then washed surface with soap. webshop.sar-machine.fi/verkkokauppa/en/home/1878-sar-blitz-black-oxide.htm

How much it cost you to get it overhauled??
I enjoyed the whole video, particularly because I just received an alto like that which needs pads and other adjustments. Love your accent, too.
Thanks!
