@@Windband1 i understand that but that said the more difficult a piece the more difficult it is to make it sound good, this etude is easy which allows musicans to have pretty high control on how they want to play it
Finesse, Control, Attacks and that Sound! And what a Sound!!! Hakan perfectly combines all the necessary elements to show us what a Great Trumpet Player should sound like. Bravo Hakan! 🎺👍
Thank you very much mr Håkan. A trumpet student like me can only kneel down and hope that I'll play some of these in a decent way sooner or later... Thanks for sharing your talent
This is ONE of the greatest gifts!! Given to humanity! Thank u HAKAN! I wish more people gave of their personal process so we could all benefit into posterity. DW
Thanks so much for this wonderful performance, and your other videos, including the other Charlier etudes! This is what the trumpet was created for, and your sound and technique are marvelous.
Bravo, quite beautiful ! This is truly the piece where there are as many interpretations as trumpet players. I remember the first recording I heard of this by Eric Aubier which was also masterful.
I had to stop playing the trumpet due to complications during a wisdom tooth surgery long ago at the peak of my career. If miraculously I would be able to play again, this would be the first thing to perform. :-(
As of right now I have tears in my eyes and I have butterflies in my stomach... I have only read the title of the video and have not heard him play yet. Get you an artist that can do that to his audience!
thank you so much for uploading this charliers series!!! They are all amazing. Now I gotta try these ones myself,, seriously. thank you so so so so much!
Funny story. Mr Herseth made me work on this etude for two weeks. I kept playing the first breath phrase somewhat as Mr Hardenberger's recording. Mr Herseth kept quizzing me about what note is the goal of the phrase, and I kept replying that it was the last note. Only years later did I learn that Herseth had a vocal text in mind: "This is the song I LOVE to sing." I was supposed to discover this. Finally he said, "It's not the way I would play it, but it's okay."
Trumpet players have Maurice Andre to thank for these very difficult exercise books. Many were written expressly for him and except for a handful of exceptional players like Hardenberger, the rest of us just struggle along. And this one, the first in that book, is the easy one.😱
Amazing! Probably my favourite étude across the board. And what a gorgeous interpretation! One would hope the virus stays around long enough to finish the book ;-)
Sublime - my practise sorted for many nights ahead. Has a picture in my head of the young wunderkind Hakan on the pic. Guess I must have also got a lot older :).
Mind. Blown. Thank you Håkan!
These recordings are going to go down in history as an icon for trumpet players everywhere!
I can play these etudes in my sleep.
It doesn't help, though, that when I wake up I can't play them anymore.🥴
So true :)
LMAO!!!!!!!! Good one mate, you had me there for a minute. ; )
this etude is really not that difficult
@@maggoteater2290 Hmm... There is a big difference between being able to play the notes, and making it music!
@@Windband1 i understand that but that said the more difficult a piece the more difficult it is to make it sound good, this etude is easy which allows musicans to have pretty high control on how they want to play it
Wonderful! Your sound and what you do with it is a gift to us all -- so appreciated, especially in these times. Thank you, Håkan.
Bob Malone Totally agree Bob. Truly inspiring!
Yamaha?
What’s with all these fake accounts lol!
Finesse, Control, Attacks and that Sound! And what a Sound!!! Hakan perfectly combines all the necessary elements to show us what a Great Trumpet Player should sound like. Bravo Hakan! 🎺👍
What a valuable gift and legacy Maestro Hardenberger has recorded for us! Required listening for every trumpeter? What an understatement!
Okay, that is the finest most musical version ever. Shivers down my spine for 4 min.!
Beautiful, elegant style and gorgeous sound. Impeccable performance.
What an inspiration.
Thank you.
Thank you so so much!
I am in tears. My soul needed that!
Thank you dear Håkan-you are a gentleman. Bless you.
Exquisite playing! Inspiration for all us trumpet-players, a true virtuoso showing the very highest level of “musicianship” at its artistic finest.
Wow, that was crazy good...I wore out your CDs in college. I have always loved your approach to the instrument. Thank you!
Exquisite. Thank you for this series!
This is so inspiring to a comeback player who has struggled with just the first ten or so of these etudes!Thank you!
Stunningly beautiful. Thank you for your artistry, Maestro.
Master Hakan! One of the greatest trumpet player ever. Thanks
One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. Beyond spectacular. Thank you. 🙏💛🎺🌟
Beautiful playing. Just gorgeous. And I even like your choice of sweater!
Thank you Håkan! It was very moving, I never thought those etude studies could even sound like that. So much passion and full of emotion. I loved it.
Thank you very much mr Håkan.

Such a clean sound on every note. Musical moments are not overlooked.
Une leçon de trompette, une leçon de musique, une leçon de vie. J'applaudis des deux mains👏. C'est pour ça qu'on vit. Juste un mot wow🤯
It does not surprise me if he was invited to play one of the seven final trumpets described in the book of revelation.
This is ONE of the greatest gifts!! Given to humanity! Thank u HAKAN! I wish more people gave of their personal process so we could all benefit into posterity. DW
Bravo! What an interpretation - incredible.

I play Euphonium and I love this. I have kept a hand written copy of this since I was 14, I just didn't know the name or composer until today
This is a hell of a resource.
Absolutely beautiful playing! Thank you for this!
It doesn't get any more musical than this. Bravo !!
Du Style indeed!
Love the space you give it.

Yea Herseth would use third etude as a warmup in the orchestra hall. The most romantic thing ever, could make a grown man cry.
I'll never play these etudes the same way, ever again. So much musicality. So far beyond the notes and rhythms.
I forgot what I was going to say: I am still hearing the music.
Beautiful!
VERY NICE HÄKAN ! WEITER SO !
Bravo and thank you for doing this.
Playing on a C trumpet I notice when attempting a play along :)
Beautiful.
I would love to practice in this room
